Mmmm dyls tomorrow is image day. Supposedly to see what shapes and styles suits me. Slightly concerned by the 'body silhouette' section where I have to bring leotard/body/swimsuit - Trust me no one wants to have to see that. - Hope you are feeling better soon

Ruby wow at you doing all that baking - I'm rubbish unless its a just add an egg packet mix so when its DDs birthday she has to make do with a ready made, shop bought one

Been to my weigh-in - Put on a pound. not surprised really as not able to exercise last week due to throat infection and decided to give up my diet coke addition 2 weeks ago and have been craving sweet things (and occassionally giving in) ever since. Really need to get organised as at the moment I'm paying out for nothing

Updated list

  • Pick up parcel from post office - Done - expected 1 parcel and there was 3 - slightly confused as I can't think what one of them could be
  • Deliver birthday present to FIL - Done
  • Pick up DD's overnight things and toys that she left at GPs when she stayed on Sunday - Done
  • Go to local shopping centre for bits - Done
  • DD to nursery - done
  • Sign language revision notes that didn't finish yesterday
  • Whats for tea - Just me and DD as DH is out tonight. Not sure what to make - Done
  • Plan for next weeks volunteer sessions
  • Write two book reviews
  • Go to Meadowhall to pick up something - done
  • Pack a bag for tomorrow - I have the second part of the colour day that I had - tomorrow is the image day so I have to take a variety of clothes, smart, casual, like, don't like etc and its a full day - 8-6pm - Phew

Mmmm not made much progress this afternoon - Must put DD to bed and get moving

OverflowingMum · 11/05/2010 20:07

evening ladies.
Have spent the afternoon at the hospital with concussed dd2 Her and another child ran into each other in the playground and she has a HUGE bruise up the side of her cheek just under her eye. When I collected her she was pale and clamy, confused, and couldnt remember what had happened
She threw up in reception of A&E and we ended up admitted to children's ward for several hours observations. She was sick again....but perked up at about 5pm and was allowed home at 6.30
Needless to say all other plans out of the window. Not hugely helpful to have all dd's clothes stuffed in black bags when trying to pack an overnight bag in an emergency
Anyway..am now home...trying to recover...dd in bed exhausted bless her....

Will BBtomorrow

dylsmum1998 · 11/05/2010 20:17

Ruby- am now v. curious who you are!
thats a lot of baking you have planned

MC- must read more thoroughly, i thought i read it was today .

OFM- poor you and dd, hope she is much better tomorrow

OP posts:
TeaMonster · 11/05/2010 20:50

OFM OMG shouldnt they have rung an ambulance straight away? I am glad that she is OK and that you are home.

I am still trying to be a little better

OverflowingMum · 11/05/2010 20:56

TM it's even worse than that...initially they sent her back into class with an ice pack, then left her sitting outsdide the office as they knew I was coming up at 12.15 to drop dd4 to nursery and didnt want to ring me I cant believe they didnt seem to realise how unwell she was It happened at 11.15 and it was after 1.00 before I got her to A&E
Right now I'm still getting over the whole thing...but when I can get my round it I will be expressing my feelings to them in no uncertain terms....

scattyspice · 12/05/2010 07:39

Oh no OFM hope she is ok this morning.

MC enjoy your colours day (sounds like a long one), give us lots of advice when you get back.

Hello ladies. I name changed. I used to be littleboyblue.
I haven't been on the FLY thread for ages now, but am still going strong.
I'm going to try to keep track of youy now
Hope everyone is well

OverflowingMum · 12/05/2010 09:40

morning all
Welcome back silverymoon
morning scatty

well, dd seems ok this morning. Very sore though, and a bit sad and very self conscious about huge black eye, bless her.
Feeling even more at school after talking to her friend this morning discovered that she didnt bang herhead on anther child as I was told, but collided with another child, bounced off him, fell and whackedthe side of her head of the paving stones edging the concrete path
no wonder she was in such a bad way. Can't beleive the school didnt even bother to find out what had actually happened. Took me all of 20 seconds to find outthis morning -wouldnt have been hard
Now trying to decide between ranting phonecall, steaming letter or storming the office in person LOL Not forgetting I also have dd3's letter to finish expreesingmy concern that they haven't managed to teach a child with above average intelligence to read in 2 years
Am begining to remember why I used to home educate.....

anyway...not going to do much today. A LOT of snuggling on the sofa with dd2 is needed.
May try to sort through girls clothes....thats it!

dylsmum1998 · 12/05/2010 09:52

x posts OFM. and at the school not tellin you/ finding out what happened to dd. I think I would probably be storming the office. Then write a letter of complaint afterwards, so that there is a paper trail of the accident.

hope you get some rest today

I've started a new hobby. A friend of mine is teaching me to knit. So far i can cast-on, knit-stitch and have just learnt purl-stitch.
I'm practising for a few days and then she said we can start a little project. We are going to do a knit-along making little tank-tops for my ds's. I'm going to do ds2's and she's going to do ds1's (bigger, obviously) so we'll see how I get on with that.

What's everyone been up to?

scattyspice · 12/05/2010 16:42

Hi silvery I remember you . i taught myself to knit from a library book last year and knitted lots of scarfs and beanies! Have never managed to follow a pattern as keep getting distracted .

OFM hope she's ok.

DS has been in trouble at school for messing around in the library line (again).

Beavers/rainbows in a minute.

MyNeighbourTotoro · 12/05/2010 18:09

Evening.
Thanks for all the welcome backs

I managed to gvet all my jobs done so that was good.

I have nothing interesting to share, so will 'see' you all in the morning

wendyhappysmile · 12/05/2010 21:06

Hi all OFM I second the acronyms provided by Ruby - how shocking of the school! Hope DD is ok now?
Hi to all just surviving. Had an energy spurt today, cleaned the living and dining room, look sparkling now, but I paid for it later on! I'm nearly up to 12 weeks but no let up yet, and the Ribena cravings still going strong ... I try to drink plain water as I usually do, but the Ribena is winning! DH just arrived home from the shop with another bottle! LOL
Will try to be on tomorrow, thanks for bearing with me ...

swanriver · 12/05/2010 22:33

OFM Yes, you are right, they should have been much more on the ball about assessing head injuries. I suppose it is impossible to properly supervise a playground - that IS the problem with schools. I'm glad YOU were so prompt at taking her to A&E. Ds2 once hd the vomiting after a bump, it is scarey how they deterioate.

silvery you've done plenty
I love knitting, until I actually finish the shapeless [useless]garment and feel a bit foolish

Done
Mum's garden geraniums pinks diascia etc(back again on Friday)lugging of heavy sacks
Missed dentist appt don't ask major fkup
Piano lesson x 2
2 boys' haircuts
Beavers help

supper cleared

Wendy bitter lemon is lovely too, when you are feeling queasy and thirsty. My first midwife was pregnant too, we used to share Ribena on homevisits!

Makingchanges · 12/05/2010 23:00

Evening all

Just popping on before I go to bed. OFM hope DD is ok now, I would be going to the school office, definately sounded like they needed to do more.

Well been on my style day - learnt alot and was pleased to see that my clothes that I took weren't a complete disaster - some good tips on how to improve and what would suit me better. There was only myself and another lady (Another flier, can you believe) but I had to go straight from there to my evening sign language class so I'm exhausted now - Will catch up on all the gossip tomorrow when I'm guessing i'm gonna have a busy day for not being around to do anythig today.

Back bright, early and bushy tailed tomorrow (or more likely mid morning and a bit bleary eyed)

What's haoppening now? Is it a weekly thread instead of a daily one?

Makingchanges · 13/05/2010 09:42

Silverymoon yes weekly instead of daily - we weren't using it often enough to have one each day. Works well cos its easier to catch up when you miss a day.

Right I have done some online shopping after my image day yesterday - 3 tops in the sale and two pairs of linen trousers. I'm going to try and see if they work their magic

To Do today

  • Sort out two baskets of clean clothes - to fold and put away.
  • washing x3 loads
  • two book reviews for uni prep session tonight
  • tidy toy mountain in lounge - think I might black bag and see if DD notices
  • make tuna pasta for tea
  • bathroom clean and de-clutter
  • hoover through downstairs
  • sign language notes copied up and homework done from last night
  • sort out sock drawer - I have bought some drawer divider things as I can't find underwear in my drawer and they are just thrown in - I'm hoping this will make it easier that emptying the drawer everytime I want a pair of socks
  • DD to nursery
  • DD to ballet
