Morning all

Boys have had be up a while, they woke up cold, it is bitter, but then I guess it is everywhere, we have had no extra snow overnight, but we have lots of ice to go with the 12 inches ish we do have and more forcast for tonight.

I have just made hot chocolate for all and the boys are snuggled under a blanket on the sofa watching star wars

EVye · 10/01/2010 07:50

Morning All

Kids up at 6. sigh.

DH in bed (his turn).

Dw loaded with last nights tuff and kids now watching tv. Not sure what to do today. Getting v bored of being stuck at home.

TeaMonster · 10/01/2010 08:44

EV What is it with the little ones being up so early!!

We are slobbing about in PJ's still

Washer is on
TD is on
Boys have been fed

To Do's

Ironing
Make dinner and Lunch
Wake DH
Get all dressed
Sort stuff for Monday
Reading with DS1
Baking
take outside lights down
feed the birds and change their frozen water

swanriver · 10/01/2010 08:56

Dh is having a lie-in. Ds2 woke early, snuggled in with us, went down to watch telly by himself at 8.00, then we were woken by a cat who now for some reason has decided it doesn't want any food but to go and play in the snow - siberian snow tiger genes.
But tis nearly 9.00 I see

lunch is made (casserole)
twins are watching telly, ah dd has fed cat
ds1 is still asleep
kitchen is tidy

so I suppose I could wash the floor

TO DO
breakfast and clear
shower, dress moderately smartly
go to church leaving plenty of time
dress children

So far haven't kept my resolution of listening to Radio 4, and was back to reading newspapers last night. There is a a new book out called Smile or Die: How the Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking has Undermined America (Granta)

swanriver · 10/01/2010 09:13

Radio 4 now on

Wolfcub · 10/01/2010 10:59

morning all

ds was up a couple of times in the night but dp let me have a lie in again.

came downstairs ti discover that all the jobs I did yesterday need doing again - grrrrrrrrrrr

done
bed made
big pile of dry washing put away
dw loaded and ready to go on when dp gets out of the shower
quick tidy in the kitchen
glass bottles rinsed ready to go in the recycling box

really need to go to lidl today but I'm not sure I can get the car out of the street and the buses don't seem to be running

Swan the book sounds interesting, I wonder if the library will have it . I am reading the first book of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. There are another 11 to keep me occupied once I have finished this one.

Morning All Have spent the last hour trying to fix this PC, as you can see it's working now! I think its because I turn it on/off when I'm at home to mask/control my MN addiction. Will have to save money for a laptop so I don't permanently break this one as DH needs it for work.
Should have spent the last hour working on a presentation while boys are at church! I'll post this and crack on before they return.
TMCinema sounds like a great idea might do that next week.
Wolf Wait for the 'Why' stage to mix with the 'I know....' then snatching or just arguing that 'I know everything' planets, star how to make a cake. how to read' you name it my boy THINKS he knows
Made ice decorations with LB & friend will hang them up on a tree when he gets back and he's still nagging about polar bears.
Not enough snow here to play in the snow just very cold and grey!
Right back with a boring list then crack on.

dylsmum1998 · 10/01/2010 11:17

morning all

tm sitting snuggled under a blanket sounds nice and cosy

Swan interesting sounding book

Star i thought it was just my ds that KNOWS everything! we were talking the other week he asked i question his response when i answered was yeah i know that! so asked how he knew 'cos you just said mum' so err you didnt know then!. very annoying must admit it really tries my patience

must get on with something today i did no housework at all yesterday its a tip, i didnt even wash up at all . so going to make a boring list to try and get something done

hoover- have done even under sofas/cushions etc
wash up
try and sort out dd's piles of toys in living room
s&s bathroom
sort out dd's toys in the hall
make beds
sort dry washing
ironing
load washer
menu plan

hmm see how that lot goes

Starbear · 10/01/2010 11:17

Right Things done
Breakfast
shower, cream all over (will stop dry skin)themals on, dressed to lace up shoes as my feet will be warmer
D/W empty
beds made
a little tidy in bedrooms
To do
Presentation
tree decor
polar bear thingy
iron bits & pieces
lunch then, pop out for fresh air
dinner Roast chicken.
OFM I worry about everyone. Its in my genes (I really think Ive got Jewish bits in me) that why I could never do child protection I would have 6-7+ adopted kids.

Starbear · 10/01/2010 11:20

dyls Morning Yes, he does that too..

dylsmum1998 · 10/01/2010 11:25

star how old is your ds?

grouchyoscar · 10/01/2010 13:00

tea I've beaten you. I'm still in bed!

I'm hiding really. DH and Ed are having a battle o wills and I'm not playing. Ed has been very wrong but DH doesn't handle the parenting well

I made the bed and got back in it

TeaMonster · 10/01/2010 13:20

Groucy I dont blame you at all for getting back in bed!!

scattyspice · 10/01/2010 13:39

Hi all.

grouchy lie low for a while.
Tea was the chipmunk film ok?

we have had a bit of a thaw (I think). Have been to Tynemouth this morning, very windy huge waves, some upto the top of the lighthouse . Staggered along the beach to the cafe.

This aft:
Ironing
ds homework
pack bags for tomorrow.

OverflowingMum · 10/01/2010 14:05

afternoon all

woke up feeling rubbish
Have stonking cold, and my worst nightmare - toothache
I have a big dentist fear....also dont have a decent dentist - have possiblity of extremely rubbish NHS and therefore possibly affordable one , or slightly less rubbish butprivate and out of our current budget one whom I havent been to in years so may not even be registered withanymore Tooth is already filled (I have really bad teeth from my mother feeding us LOADS of sweets when we were little )so I fear we may be looking at root canal work, which I have had before and was so much worse than childbirth

Have also had big argument with DH - as now seems inevitable at the weekend

Anyway, he has taken DC out , and I have blitzed some of house chaos, and made chicken and mushroom pie for dinner.

I think that more planning and inspiration for getting older dc to help out/co-operate/behave more is needed.
To this end I have just put up 2 dry wipe white boards in hall....Not sure how this will help exactly but feel it should LOL
Dreaming of nice orderly little chore lists and DC happily complying and ticking off jobs with blissfully serene parents smiling in backgound LOL!! [flying-pig-emoticon]

Now going to have nap and hopefully wake restored and happy minus toothache....

BBL

OverflowingMum · 10/01/2010 14:07

swan was listening to radio 4 whilstmaking pie! thought of you! Also thought of you TM as programme was all about tea LOL

OverflowingMum · 10/01/2010 14:11

wendy exciting possibly about job for you - but yes, dilema too.Hard to weigh upbalance between financial /personal rewards of job V stress of childcare/less time at home etc....Hope you come to a good decision. Idea of Job Share souned good ...would this be a possibility do you think?

OverflowingMum · 10/01/2010 14:13

star dyls I have a DS who knows EVERYTHING too. Drives me mad LOL He reckons he knows more than everyone about everything. He is always right (according to him!) and its the restof the world thats wrong LOL ( only trouble is he does actually know a lot- and so is actually right a fair ammount of the time, but I dont tell him that!!)

dylsmum1998 · 10/01/2010 14:30

over flowing you could be describing my ds there! such hard work isn't it. I am proud of how much he knows, but just wish he woldn't argue with me so much. esp. on the occasion when he is wrong!

grouchy don't blame you for going back to bed. I hope they have sorted themselves out now

Scatty wow those were big waves!

have suprised myself by doing ALL of my list already. except the menu plan. am feeling very breathless and tired now so am rewarding myself with a little time sat on here/ facebook before i do that

Starbear · 10/01/2010 14:51

Back from a church party for the kids which means I haven't started my presentation except brought out the paperwork
dyls Little bear is 5 yrs I suspect it a male trait as his father is very much the same.
OFM &TM I also listen to the radio, love the news quiz with Sandi 'I can't spell her surname' Tog... yesterday. OFM What is winding up your DH then? Or you?
Scatty sounds dramatic. Hope you all stand well clear
Right off to download someone else's (with his permission) presentation (& steal bits for my own)
& some ironing maybe go out for a short walk Then cook dinner Have a nice Sunday everyone hope some feel better soon.

swanriver · 10/01/2010 14:58

OFM - it may just be referred sinus pain, not toothache, or just an infection which will settle down withantiobiotics. Eat lots of garlicky, chilliey, oniony, raw green things to fight the infection too.

Some dentists are just crap, good dentists mostly do not cause pain when they do root canals. (I have had several I think before they start they have to give you antiobiotics to get rid of any infection anyway, so don't be frightened to go on Mon.

I have defeated the Sunday blues! We have briskly walked to church and I haven't had more than a minor skirmish with dh yet!!!!!Must be healing power of Radio 4, and pre-prepared casserole.

On the way back I bought a large blackboard at poundshop to write weekly menus on

Children are obsessed by earning money, have realised that I can make them work by giving them 5p for chores. Dh thinks it is a mistake, as they now won't even get out of bed for less than 5p, but I hope in time good habits will be established

Wolfcub · 10/01/2010 15:50

afternoon all grouchy I sympathise , I feel like that a lot with ds and dp I get sick and fed up of living in a war zone sometimes when dp just goes straight to def con 4 without trying the inbetween stages

done

been to lidl and aldi
had the minestrone soup i made yesterday for lunch -very nice
wm unloaded reloaded and on
dry washing folded

ds is forgetting to ask for the potty/toilet which has resulted in numerous accidents and some frayed tempers. I don't think we'd mind so much if we could get the washing dry but with no tumble drier and no opportunity to hang outside I am struggling and every radiator is covered in drying clothes.

Need to make some bread buns in a while.

OP posts:
OverflowingMum · 10/01/2010 16:40

afternoon all

star yes I love that news quiz too. Very funny. Usually forget to listen to it though

swan LOL"wont get out of bed for less than 5p"!! Think we do need to re-establish chore/pocket money system actually...that did work well but sort of fell by the wayside.Tooth could well be infection/sinus actually. Have gargled lots with Corsadyl...has eased a bit...off to search for garlic...

dyls maybe your DS and mine should meet up LOL they could argue with each other as to who was the most right LOL

DH returned in fairly plaesent mood.
I think more structure to weekend/better planning could be key....as well as me andDHsitting down and formally agreeing some "Time off" for each of us on a weekly basis....will attempt to follow through later...

DC tasks witten on the boards now being ignored so back to nagging LOL

Off to consider pocket money...

BBL

OverflowingMum · 10/01/2010 16:41

wolf minestrone soup sounds yummy...best learn to make it...

Wolfcub · 10/01/2010 17:16

ofm it was easy and very cheap. I don't use my slow cooker as much as i should but this was a definite do again recipe

I have a horrid sicky headache so dp is tidying the kitchen for me. I have put dough for bread buns in the breadmaker

ds seems determined to either electrocute himself or break his legs/arms/neck. He is not listening to anything. I can feel myself going horse and I would bet any amount of money that my rapidly rising blood pressure is contributing to the headache

swan we ran into a similar problem with ds - If I do that I want a jelly baby/choc button etc etc.
