Wolfcub · 13/09/2009 08:12

good morning everyone

busy busy day yesterday so I didn't get chance to pop in and say hullo

ruby well done on the interview and good luck
grouchy you really are superwoman sometimes just don't overdo it
wendy sorry you're having such a tough time with your mum. I really sympathize. I have difficulties with mine and always have but in a slightly different way. But it does make for a difficult time and an awful lot of walking on eggshells and has led me to feel very depressed in the past.

Yesterday we bought Ikea storage for ds's toys and put it together last night. It doesn't really go with the rest of our living room furniture but at least everything has a home now rather than being dumped on the floor.

DP and DS managed to completely undo all of the cleaning and tidying I did on Friday in 4 hours yesterday morning I honestly get so fed up. It feels really disrespectful to me that they would do that (although I know there is bound to be mess I can't believe the sheer scale of it. Or the fact that dp put a used tea bag on the clean chopping board rather than in the bin which was only 2 feet away).

Anyway I'm going to have a cup of tea and then crack on with some jobs. I've sent dp back to bed so he's out from under my feet.

dylsmum1998 · 13/09/2009 08:35

EHM · 13/09/2009 09:00

Back from Dorset yesterday-Massive Ironing session last night.
We exchanged finally on Thursday-we nearly told our buyer to stick it where the sun doesn't shine-Due to their constant delaying we have missed out on a rental property yards from the school-brand new home. There is nothing else available within this area thats suitable at moment. except a house I went to see a few weeks a good, which stinks & really poorly maintainedHave to move out by 14th October so not long!
DH goes away on Tuesday-back next Sunday, then in Brussels every Monday/Tuesday until the end of the year

Back to PS for Ellie tomorrow-so I am hitting gym have put on many pounds due to holiday eating. Need to get swimming etc tome up. I won't diet just eat less crap

Have great day all.x

wendyhappysmile · 13/09/2009 09:36

Morning all EHM Yay! for house exchange! I'm sure you'll find a rental property soon, but I remember how stressful it all is from my own experience - keep calm!
wolf thanks for the sympathy and support. I can understand your frustration - if DH did that he knows I'd go ballistic!
dyls at Mister Maker - my DC are massive obsessive fans of his!

Right, need to:

make a cake
paint a wall
shower and get dressed
tidy up (mammoth task after yesterday's decorating!)

All this in about an hour and a half!! Guess paint a wall can go.

Starbear · 13/09/2009 10:10

Morning all The sun has disappeared, thank goodness, I couldn't be bothered to go shopping yesterday. So No BBQ but Shepherd pie that I partly made on Friday! Hoovered & dusted upstairs (tumble weed dust was beginning to develop) read a bit of the Saturday Times and played with DS in the garden instead.
Feeling a little neglected by DH at present but need a passive aggressive way of dealing with it, instead a full blown row
EHM Must be hard dealing with everything while DH is away & travelling so much. OR in my case at present I think it might be easier not sure!
Wendy Must join you in some exercise it might cheer me up AND DH might take more of an interest in my needs! (did that sound naff!)
Okay a lot to do friend will be here at 1pm.
Back in a mo with list.

Wolfcub · 13/09/2009 10:22

ehm good to see you, glad you finally got the house exchanged
dyls very jealous of mister maker, ds loves him
wendy and star good morning

Starbear · 13/09/2009 10:33

Hi Wolfmy obsession with cooking
I do this to myself WHY!
Okay need to get on with the day
Potatoes already cooked and mashed Done
Wash & dress (would be good)
Put DS clothes in bin bags to sort out during the week
Make beds
Shopping (shouldn't really be done on Sunday but Hey!)
Wash DS clothes for school
Cook dinner for guests
Iron clothes for work
Get DH to do some housework!
That will do for now

Starbear · 13/09/2009 10:37

Ruby Tutor are good. I wanted one when I was younger. BUT not the man that thought I would make good wife material that my Dad brought around, different culture, different world. Thank goodness I could say No. Still a good female tutor for me would have been fab!

Jas · 13/09/2009 10:42

Thankyou EHM
Glad you have finally exchanged....I hope the move all goes smoothly and you can put this stress behind you.

We are going out for the day today. No FLYing here!

grouchyoscar · 13/09/2009 15:00

Happy Birthday Jas Wendy I think I've mentioned my relationship with my mother is, well, non-exsistant we are estranged as she is well, strange TBH, classic NPD type and toxic with it. I found when I was pg with GOjr that I had to stay strong for my baby's sake and as she always managed to hurt/upset me I consciously distanced myself from her. The bush telegraph informed her of GOjr's exsistance when he was about 15mths old (he's 6 now) but I've always kept her hands off and away from my family. For me it is a survival thing for us all, DH who is so easy going he is pretty much horizontal told her mum that my mum would start a fight in an empty room . Thing is, my GM pretty much agreed .

Hang on, that was a personal councelling session if ever I saw one, sorry, What I'm trying to say is I truly empathise with you and what my mother has led me to do to keep vaguly sane.

swanriver · 13/09/2009 16:36

So far all well , as operation was cancelled as they wanted us to come in on Monday to see an even more specialist specialist So will be rebroken on Monday.
but thanks for thoughts TM and Dyls (hope got right people..)

EHM - victory!
Mums - lovely kind and inspiring (some of the time) but upsetting and distracting (a lot of the time). One could get so much done in the time one spends arguing with them . Once spent a hour shouting at my mother over why I hadn't put the kids' laundry away (me aged 38 and her 65) ridiculous really. All you can do is love the good things about them, and grind your teeth when they are up to their old tricks.

Did loads of tidying and sorting today as house is now catastrophic after wasted days at hosp, an old friend visiting for two nights, painter, sat music school, and four people to lunch yesterday who didn't GO HOME.

Went to mass this am - without a fight - tg
tidied our bedroom a bit
tidied kitchen a bit
recycling
laundry

now going to watch last bit of Groundhog Day wwith dh and dd. Too sophist for boys they are upstairs watching something childish and charming.

swanriver · 13/09/2009 16:40

ooh love that article Starbear.

SimplyIsGoingToLearnToFLY · 13/09/2009 16:55

Hello to all. I've read the posts from today but I won't do individual replies as I feel rough after a late night (not in bed until 1am.) Dh and I are both thankful that we each only had 1 alcoholic drink last night as otherwise we'd feel even worse! We're just not used to going out, talking to loads of people, eating late and getting to bed late. Wusses!

Done list for today:-
~ put d/w on about 7am so we'd have crockery (no-one did it yesterday evening clearly - teenagers!)
~ up and breakfasted and then back to bed until about 10am
~ lunch out in a local cafe
~ took stuff to the dump
~ took the dog to the beach
~ took ds to his music lesson
~ did food shopping to fill the time
~ fetched dd and friend from town

I feel like a nap and ds has just started his music practice!

Almost forgot to say, I looked nice last night, I think. I managed to get my hair cut in the afternoon and then dh helped me to dye it to tone the highlights down. The shoes fitted me fine and my hold it all in camisole was an almost exact match for the pink in the dress so looked like part of the dress (the tiny triangle of it that was visible.) One work colleague said I looked stunning but I'm not sure if he'd had one or more pints even though it was the start of the evening.

Right. Off for a nap. I'll feel more human then.

dylsmum1998 · 13/09/2009 17:15

TM poor ds1, think it may bea bit far for a day trip for him to have come to see mr maker

Leo Mr Maker is on the cbeebies channel, he does all sorts of arty crafty type things for the children and is a bit silly and amusing while he does it

dd and i had a fab time at the open day, she loved mister maker but wouldnt pose for a photo with him, so i took some of him and got dc a signed panto leaflet each. ds was very disappointed we went without him. but is a little consoled when i told him we will bew going to see the panto so he can see him then.
dd is now glued to the tv watching mr maker saying look mummy he's my friend you talked to him don't you mummy

Swan hope seeing the specialist spelialist means they'll fix ds very well!

ActingNormal · 13/09/2009 19:11

Wendy, that would drive me nuts if someone did what your mum did and didn't seem to care about the worry that it causes.

I haven't lived up to my expectations of myself this weekend. I haven't been the fun mum doing loads of children activities that I wanted to be. I've been really tired and really snappy. It is partly because PMT psycho week is beginning!

Things I have achieved are:

  • bought 2 proper laundry baskets (to use instead of bin bags)
  • bought a new iron as the old one seems to stop electricity sockets working and the flex is all knackered.
  • ironed school uniform for 2 children
  • ironed a shirt for DH
  • polished the children's school shoes (not because I'm so good that I would normally do this, but because they have only worn them for one week and they are already scuffed to hell! I've coloured in the white bits with permanent marker pen, then polished them - probably not 'normal practice'?)
  • took children to a party yesterday
  • done dishwasher (only once for the whole weekend!)
Wolfcub · 13/09/2009 19:56

SimplyIsGoingToLearnToFLY · 13/09/2009 20:56

Noswaith dda pawb. Good evening all.

Happy birthday Jas.

Hey, Wolfcub, your food sounds delicious! Where did you get the recipe for the apple and brandy sponge pud from?

Well, I had an hour long nap and felt like death warmed up for a while when I woke. I'm now trying to think of stuff to do as I need to spend a couple of hours doing something before going to bed again. I think I'll write a list ready for tomorrow and hem a pair of dd's trousers. If I still feel like doing stuff then I'll do some letter writing perhaps.

See you tomorrow!

galen · 13/09/2009 21:02

Very belated evening all !

Mixed weekend really. Yesterday peaceful, today grumpy LOL
DH in baaad mood, has another "cold" (will no doubt have progressed to 'flu by the morning...) and so has been too exhausted to do much except snap at kids randomly....
DD1 being very teenagerish (and shes only 9 ...sigh) made worse by DH being extremely intolerant and nagging...which made DD worse...which made Dh worse... you get the idea LOL

Other DD's all exhausted from first week back at school. DD3 doing usual failing to interact with the world the way others do...she is a worry...sigh...

Ds1 also tired, but actually greatly improved in mmod by many outdoor romps with
dog!

Man that was meant to come to check out defunct car on Sat morning didnt turn up - so car still hopelessly abandoned on drive, which means another week of multiple taxi duties for me ferrying everyone , including Dh all over....

Have completely fallen off the FLY wagon and am struggling to clamber back on board.....

BUT have resolved to try again tomorrow! House actually marginally improved this last week, so hopefully recovery will continue!

SO...tomorrow:

Restart Baby steps!! do steps 1 and 2!
Post properly on thread EARLY!
Laundry reboot
S&S ALL bathrooms
Clean washing away
Sweep all downstairs
Mop hall floor.
Make chick and mushroom pie for dinner

And that is all for my list as I'm going to start small and build up LOL

swan Good luck for Ds for tomorrow - hope all goes well.

everyone-else Hope there are peaceful weeks ahead for all!

WILL be back tomorrow am for encouragement (otherwise known as a swift boot up the bum!)
