Ahhhh - Hot press = airing cupboard! Thanks Plum!

I'm the eldest of 3. Always thought it was the perfect number of kids until my middle brother has turned into an arsehole. I would still love to have 3 but DH is worried about how we would afford it since we would need a much bigger house. Since I've given up work I don't want to pile the pressure on him too much financially, although he is doing very well at work. We will see, I may yet get my way!

Alice your seat must be a better argos one than ours then because the one we got for ds is much flimsier than dd's bebeconfort one, also hers has 3 different bits holding it to the seat belt wheras his only had the one clip and that snapped just with me adjusting it-thank god it wasn't an accident or he'd have flown out of the car .

I always had images of a hot press being one of those big iron type things where you fold the clothes and put the lid down (don't know what they are called but my gran has one!)

How does Anthea fold her towels, I try to keep mine neat but it's always a mess. Doesn't help that it is narrow but deep so we have piles in front of each other. Fitted sheets also give me problems, no matter how you fold them they are never flat!

Today:
All up, dressed, breakfasted - DONE
Washing up - DONE
Wipe kitchen sides and dining table - DONE
Load of washing in - DONE
Hang load of washing on line-

claireybee · 28/07/2009 11:35

Oh wow alice so your dd's aunt/uncle is younger than her? My uncle and my cousin are the same age which I've always thought was quite cool (but not sure I'd like my mum being pg at the same time as me in reality!)

alicecrail · 28/07/2009 11:43

The seat belt goes over the arm, threads through the back and out over the other arm. You have to pull it really tight, but it is secure.

I have decided not to look after this puppy anymore after today. He is my best friend's dog and she is the only person who ever babysits for me but it is impossible trying to look after the two of them and keeping them apart at all times. Puppy is getting more agressive everytime she goes near him, and when i put him in the garden he just digs. It is starting to stress me out tbh. I have now got puppy sleeping on my lap and DD is playing on the other side of the room, so ok for now. It's sad because he really is so loving, but feels threatened by DD (not blaming him tbh!) I don't know what time i have got him til as my friend has gone in for a hernia op, and they are going to pick him up on way back from hosp.

Sorry for moan, but can't really moan to anyone in RL in case it gets out and i hurt her feelings. I will have to think about how best to word it to her.

alicecrail · 28/07/2009 11:52

clairy My DD is nearly 21 months, so i had already had her before my mum got pg. I was furious (didn't tell her though) as i felt she had had her turn and although i don't like to admit it, i think she did the wrong thing having the baby. My brother is suspected autistic and a bit a handful and she knew the baby she was carrying was downs with a big risk of heart complications. She told us that she would terminate if the baby was disabled (if she knew early) because she wasn't healthy herself and didn't think it would be fair bringing a child into this world if she was unable to provide the care it would require.
She was never a mother to me or my next sister who ended up living with my mum's mum.

Sorry if long, it is all complicated

JustKeepSwimming · 28/07/2009 12:25

LG - bad luck on the glasses! have only ever lost shoes to puppies!

Plum - thanks, we will carry on with the ones we have for now - esp as DH is anal about them, lol! but i think we will end up with some of the cheaper boosters chucked in the boot in the future.
Awww at your dd

Alice - it does sound complicated! so does your mum now look after you (suspected) autistic brother & the baby with Downs? must be hard work.
And sounds you are making the right decision about the dog

Well my day going kind of pear-shaped. The car wasn't ready to be collected post-mot yesterday so DH went to collect this morning and was gone ages. so he didnt take ds1 out.
And just had a text saying we may postpone the mums dinner until next week - was looking forward to it!
Plus got a text from my babysitter saying he can't do wed afternoon (dh working) so ds1 and I can't go out to friend's DD's birthday tea.

Ladygooga Chewing glasses, doesn't she know dogs should chew slippers

PBM We have a crazy few in our family too, not me of course

I was wondering about the hotpress I call it my airing cupboard.

DS1 is going to be a heartbreaker, he is turning into a handsome young man, blonde hair, blue eyes!!

Ali My DH would like 6 DC, I don't!! It's not practical, house too small, car too small, bank balance too small. I would have to be a working mum if I had anymore.

clairey I have trouble folding fitted sheets too, I suppose a way to fold them neatly would be to iron them first, but I'm too lazy to do that

JKS about mums dinner and friends DD birthday tea.

alice DS1 would love a puppy, I think it would be just too stressful at the moment with the little ones, maybe when they get a bit older

Hi everyone, my hair is done, but she took abit too much of the front I have like a side frindge thing going on now

Anthea does have a way of folding her fitted sheets so that they look nice and flat but I never seen that episode!

Not sure I can explain the towels
lay towel flat fold in a third(longways) then fold over the other side
then take the ends and fold them so they meet in the middle
then fold that over you should have a nice square with no edges showing

Anyway back to the dinner, didn't get making it earlier but got out to buy all my ingredients

Peppa Yeap I'm the only sane one too

Jennypenny hope your dd is alright

Hope Smallblessings and CWWM are alright too, they haven't been around, SB had swineflu didn't she?

Got all the beds stripped and changed
dd2 & ds covers in wash now

ithinkmydaughterispeppapig · 28/07/2009 20:57

The biscuits were a success, they have all been eaten and DD1 enjoyed using the animal cutter, I have promised we can have some more tomorrow, I am going to try swaping 1oz of flour for 1oz of cocoa powder.

The clutter clearing is going quite well too, I have sorted 2 boxes, one of CDs and one of paperwork most of which can be shredded, DS2 favourite job so that has been delageted to him.

How to fold fitted sheets

Tomorows task, try to make head or tail of those instructions

alicecrail · 28/07/2009 21:25

Glad the cookies were ok.

Cwwm has been having problems with her computer (internet connection i think)

JustKeepSwimming · 28/07/2009 21:29

Will look at those instructions in a bit - not that i can imagine i would normally manage anything with fitted sheets really but hey, i'm anal enough to try anything

Just spoke to my mum and they may not make it next week, getting a tad fed up with them as they haven't bothered seen the boys in ages.

Left To Do:

  • drink wine DONE

PMSL at those instructions!!!!

will have to give it a go tomorrow!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/07/2009 22:13

Dear god those instructions look hideous - I will stick with my rolling method I think. DH only stirs up the whole airing cupboard when he puts things in and out anyway so any tidy folding is short lived!

JKS - FIL doesn't make an effort to see DS. I just get angry about it, but I see how hurt DH is by it. FIL sees the DNs all the time, very annoying. Must be hard when it's your own parent .

PlumBumMum · 28/07/2009 23:21

Glanced at the thread quickly thought you were all laughing at my towel instructions although they were hideous too

off to check out the fitted sheet ones although mine are done in a roll/fold way too Ali

PlumBumMum · 28/07/2009 23:23

ohh the end of it is how the towls are supposed to be...............hmm wonder if Anthea was trying to be Martha

PlumBumMum · 28/07/2009 23:29

Heres anthea's hot press
