DS had his first night in a big boy bed last night. He settled much easier than he has been doing in his cot but after he woke at 4 he didn't settle again and just kept crying off and on til 6. At about 5.30 I yelled at him then slammed his door then dh went to him a couple of times before we gave up and let him come in with us-luckily he did then go to sleep, normally I hate him coming in with us because he just climbs all over me, fiddles with my boobs and generally annoys me! He has dd's toddler bed now and she has a full size single, it looks massive in her room and she looks tiny in it!

Also yesterday the clip that holds his carseat to the seatbelt snapped off when I was adjusting it so we've had to fork out for a new one. Maybe serves us right for only having got him a cheap argos one? We've ordered one that turns into a booster but still has the 5 point harness for when they are smaller, dd will have that one and he'll have her carseat. We couldn't afford it though so my mum has bought it and that will then be our xmas present from them

PBM I got ariel excel this time because it had £3 off in Sainsburys but it smells really strong compared to my normal detergent.

WME DS is a complete wee monster at the moment and is soaking through nappies within an hour, 2 at most. I've had to put him in a disposable a couple of times recently while I catch up on the washing.

Peppa I need to declutter in a big way, just haven't been motivated lately.

Have had a fairly productive day, the living is looking great, it makes the rest of the house look awful though!! I have emptyed one box and most of its contents was rubbish.

clairey Carseats are so expensive, DS3 and DD1 both need to go up a stage asap, I'm going to have to buy one in August and one in September.

JKS My laundry is not too bad at the moment, the basket is not overflowing, so I'm going to make the biscuits tomorrow

wme what a great way to reuse carrier bags, Green peace will be impressed

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/07/2009 23:00

Hello Slatterns! We were staying with my grandma over the weekend and had to stay an extra day because her heating system broke. She is 86 so wanted to make sure it was all fixed before we came home. I am bloody knackered, she's had building work done and the place is still dusty and grubby - my Aunt lives 15 mins away from her and has done next to nothing in terms of sorting things out. Bah. I've also got my first period since DS was born and it's knocked me for 6. However, I have got my new Dyson because we bought it to clean her house with - I love it!!!!

WME - I have disposables for emergencies like that, and to use for the last nappy before we go away so that we don't have an odd one to wash or leave in the bucket. DS is in a wool wrap for the first time tonight - really hoping it will be good as he's been leaking through his PUL ones a lot recently.

Clairey - at your carseat issues

CC - what is a hotpress?

JustKeepSwimming · 28/07/2009 07:34

Ali - well done on sorting grandma

Car seats are so blooming expensive aren't they + parental guilt over getting the safest one that fits the car etc. We have gone for Recaro ones which DH loves and i do for the 1st & 2nd stage but not so convinced on the older ones.

Plum - lol

WME - loving the image of the carrier bag!

alicecrail · 28/07/2009 08:09

Argh, have written a long post and then lost it!!! Hate it when that happens!

Anyway, was saying how our carseat is from argos, 5 point harness, side impact protection goes from 9mo to 11yrs and costs about £45. DD finds it very comfy even though it doesn't recline and will fall asleep in it. We looked at lots and this was no different than the £100+ ones.

No list today as have my friends puppy round so can't really leave the room with them both in (he's fine, but because it's not my dog, i would rather keep an eye on them both)

Have a good day all

wastingmyejumication · 28/07/2009 08:34

I've got no carrier bags in the house. In the ten years since I left home it's the first time I've ever had no carrier bags.

I used up all the disposables we had left over from holiday last time we ran out of wraps.

DS is still stuffed into his first stage carseat. It's safe, but it doesn't look very comfy. We've been planning to sell the big car and buy something more efficient, and didn't want to buy the seat til we'd got the new car, but we've been taking our time.

  • DS boobed, changed, dressed done
  • breakfast
  • dry pots
  • fold dry washing
  • sort out food cupboards, using new baskets
  • wash nappies
  • wipe round bathroom
  • me showered and dressed
  • paperwork!

Nothing else til that lot is complete.

ithinkmydaughterispeppapig · 28/07/2009 09:02

Morning Well I was up way to early again DS3 is turning into a early bird!!

alice I will take a look at the argos book for carseats, that sounds like a real bargain.

WME I don't have any carrier bags either because I have gone a bit mad buying reusable ones, it's so annoying when you really need a carrier bag.

JKS Hope you have a great meal later.

I've added more to my list, some will probably go into tomorrow which is OK because I have to stay in on wed, new cooker arring

JustKeepSwimming · 28/07/2009 09:44

Peppa - 6, wow! i'm one of 4, 2 of each. that's always been my plan, lol. though actually i'm convinced i'll have a third boy next time.

we mostly don't acquire carrier bags anymore either since a big effort to change to reusable ones (my fave are the hessian type ones), but every now and then i'll end up with one and it gets shoved in the cupboard and will get used for something. we can put them in our recycling rubbish here now so i have to try to save a couple for odd jobs!

Morning all

I have 1 brother, I would've loved to be part of a bigger family, don't know why since the one I have are all crazy!

this is the same as the one I got for dd1 7 years ago now, I got it for £80 then but it is brilliant and dd3 is in it now, so if you want one that will do a couple of dcs then I highly recommend it

JKS my other 2 are in the graco boosters which again are very good, and you always get a good deal on them in smyths here

Sorry if no one needed that info, but I'm abit OCD about carseats!

PlumBumMum · 28/07/2009 10:33

Anyway on with list

did lots of ironing last night it all needs put away
CC my hot press is tidy, (yes there is stuff in it before anyone says my washing is all in dining room),
I watched Anthea Turner perfect housewife once and ever since then I always fold my towels the Anthea way and keep my hot press tidy

Ali Hot press is the closet your immersion heater would be in with shelves above it, normally keep all towels and sheets etc in

supposed to be getting hair done today and the girls fringes trimmed but haven't heard from MIL

Everyone up washed dressed done
breakfast done
list of ingredients for cakes done
load washing machine done
load dishwasher
make dinner for later
go to the bank
Pay bills[yuck]
go to tesco for ingredients

dd1 is going to break my heart when she is older, she just came in with her skinny jeans on, a wee top, a pinkshrug like cardi, a blue and pink belt on all accessories to match, she just looked so beautiful and trendy, shes only 8

sorry I'm in a rambling mood today

alicecrail · 28/07/2009 10:33

I am the eldest of 5. Me -24, K-23, J-20, JO -7 and Ki 7months. I was the only one who lived with my dad though, so felt like an only child - but in a good way!

Have taken DD and puppy for a walk so they are both happier. Puppy has really taken a dislike to DD and if she touches him he snaps at her, so i am unable to do anything. I can put him in his cage but he will be in it for a couple of hours this afternoon, so don't want to put him in it yet. I think he is scared of her tbh, Was fine when he was very small has he didn't seem to mind and he was so tiny that he couldn't do anything iyswim? Oh well, it's only for the one day.
