new thread - a little early but I wanted to mark my return.

Sorry for everything I've missed - but I can promise you I'm BACK now

(any major updates please let me know )

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/07/2009 15:46

That is appalling - I would seriously complain. My Dad is a consultant and there is no way on this earth that he would speak to someone like that, especially not a parent of a sick child. I would really fight for an appointment sooner than October if you have the energy. The Dr calling you wasn't aware of the full details of your case so should be listening to any concerns.
You must be so so upset.

What would the situation be if you went private? You may be able to see the same Prof/consultant if they will take a private referral which in theory would mean that things didn't have to start from scratch again.
I think it's very unfortunate that in lots of instances like this you have to become your own expert and really push to get what you need.

Sorry I shouldn't have waffled on so much on this thread - just so outraged on your behalf. Arrogant sod thinking that just because he's a Dr he mustn't be questioned. Thank God there are fewer of them about than there used to be, doesn't make the remainder any less obnoxious though.
Reading your thread brought a lump to my throat ((hugs))

comewhinewithme · 15/07/2009 16:28

JKS What a pompous sod he sounds you weren't rude at all .

Hope you are ok

All tea & cake gratefully received thanks!

I'm OK now, had long chat with HV about it all and have a plan.
Sat - increase dose
Wed - call re bringing back 1st drug
If not happy then, either:

  • call nice doctor personally
  • call prof's sec to try and speak to her personally
  • try involving PALS

Also HV said she will do a developmental check and a MARKS (i think) referral to flag up serious concerns about developmental delay & skill loss if we want. not sure about that but extra ammo may be useful.
What's so grr about it is i cannot imagine the Prof speaking in those terms to anyone, esp not a parent!

Hello slatterns and welcome new slatterns

JKS i haven't read your thread yet, but will do, hugs anyway

kidcoconut sorry to hear you are suffering from pnd, it must be very hard. If it helps quite a few of us are slightly that way inclined completely mad on here.

Plum more hugs (i thought you could do with a rather than a )

Big wave to everyone i have missed.

I really meant to list here today, but computer was playing silly buggers this morning and this afternoon we all went swimming and then on to the horses and by the time we were home it was time to cook dinner, so a bit late really. I will have an extra long and tedious list tomorrow though

alicecrail · 15/07/2009 20:56

jks i am at that!! I told DH (who is a vet) and he said that is totally out of order. He deals with animals but is more understanding and considerate to his clients than your doctor was who was dealing with children! Lets just hope he has just had a bad day and is normally very helpful. Fingers crossed for you

JennyPenny22 · 15/07/2009 21:24

Am I the only one who ends up with all her housework to do in the evening? I just don't get a chance in the daytime!

JustKeepSwimming · 15/07/2009 21:29

Thanks Alice - yes hope he as just having a bad day and isn't normally like that!

I was thinking of making a meat and potato pie for tea as I'm a bit like Old Mother Hubbard at the moment but I'm really crap at making pastry...any fail safe receipes anyone?

alicecrail · 16/07/2009 09:30

Yes! Go to waitrose and buy ready made stuff! I did shortcrust pastry the other day and it was crap. Apparently it is better if you do 2/3butter and 1/3lard.

MuppetsMuggle · 16/07/2009 09:45

Kid I always cheat and buy ready made pastry as I'm pants at actually making it myself lol.

Alice It was very good, I'm going to see it next week with DP and hopefully get a seat towards the back of the cinema, my neck was hurting as was sat 3 rows in front of the screen it was packed out.

I need to go shopping at somepoint as running low on meat and freezers is running low too. However, need money to do that and don't get paid till 27th. so we are living on ifits till then.
