clairy big hugs. This is what started me off, thinking i was pg then being gutted when i wasn't. You are not being silly at all, it is perfectly reasonable. You never know he might feel differently in a year or two. I admit i do feel very jealous of all my friends that are pg with their first and are enjoying all the attention and excitement. I had a terrible pg and i begrudge them having a good time iyswim?

Don't get yourself down about it, do something nice this afternoon with the children, play a game or do some cooking or something, and just enjoy them. DD always makes me smile

kidcreoleandthecoconuts · 15/07/2009 08:54

Hi everyone
can I join you too? I have tried the FLY thread in the past ( under a different name!) and it worked for a while but now I'm back to square one. I think list making is definately the way to go! Find it hard to get motivated...PND etc but DP is starting to comment on the lack of things being done during the day although in a nice way I might add!
Anyway my list...

Done -
DC's up and breakfast
Loaded d/w
DD dressed
Ebay listings checked

To Do -
Me and DS dressed
Go to shop
Go to post office
Empty all bins
Change bedding
Ironing
Make lunch
Put on d/w
Hoover

That's enough for now I think!

jenduck · 15/07/2009 09:26

Morning all, welcome to kidcreole (that name brings back memories of gloriously bad 80s music!)

Did not get round to posting yesterday as had to drop into work to arrange going back. If I do go back, it seems it will be in December (what with unpaid maternity leave & annual leave), which will fall just short of Ds's birthday, so that's quite nice. I don't want to go back at all though, and I never thought I'd say that - hence the mailout I am trying to do as a freelance translator.

TODAY'S LIST:

Dishwasher

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 15/07/2009 10:19

JenDuck, what languages do you speak? We sometimes use translators in our business which is many oil industry / contracts based (don't know if you know any of this terminology).

I'm working full time at the moment, have a DS aged 3 and am 28 weeks pregnant (although I do keep forgetting how far gone I am). Lets just say I sooooo wish I wasn't working full time. By 4pm I have had enough.

Yesterday one of my tactful colleagues asked when I was due, I said October 15th and he said 'blimey, by that time you'll be as big as a house'. Unfortunately this was the latest in a stream of comments about how massive I am (and I'm not even that massive 5ft 2, and 10 stone 2) and I went to have a cry in the loo. Stupid bloke - his wife had twins so he should know better! .

Anyway better write a list - apologies for rant

Put load of washing on
Empty and load dishy
Clear breakfast table
Make sandwich
Tidy kitchen

And presents
DS card and present
DH 5th Anniversary present and card
Pick my Anniversary present!
Start packing for holiday

Before October
Visit hospital delivery ward
Clear out freezer and fill with delicious ready meals
Buy lots of 'healthy' snack type stuff to eat on the run

Any ideas on how to keep me sane once DC2 arrives most welcome.

comewhinewithme · 15/07/2009 10:25

HMHB can't believe you are 28 weeks already how is it all going ?

WRT to bump comments I think people really forget what a PITA it is I was so fed up with people asking me daft questions and commenting on the size of my bump by the time I was due I had had enough ...but on Monday I found myself asking a woman who is a week overdue

'Haven't you had that baby yet ? '{blush].

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/07/2009 10:30

Morning slatterns

JKS - I'm distressed to hear that epic poos still happen at that stage! I am glad though to see that other people think they deserve a mention on our lists, they do take time to sort out!!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 15/07/2009 10:54

CWWM - doing ok really. Wish I could chill/rest a bit more and the world wasn't stressed out about swine flu. Otherwise healthy and fine. Baby doing a lot of kicking.

KidCreole - How old is your baby? I'm reading a book about preventing PND at the moment and a lot of it is about hormones (specifically progesterone) dipping after the birth which is a major shock to the system. One way of making sure your hormone levels are steady is to eat a starchy meal/snack every 3 hours (they recommend that you spread out your normal daily menu and have snacks such as a ryvita or a kitkat) and within 1 hour of getting up and just before bed. Also they say to eat some toast or something in the night if you have to get up to bf. I had really bad PND for around 9 months and am desperate to make sure I don't get it this time round. Apparently keeping the blood sugar steady is key and then the progesterone stays more steady and you feel better. Hope it works. Will let you know more if I find out anything else.

HMHB - i need to audit the bathroom stuff too, it just reproduces in there!

Ali - to be fair to ds1, think he has a mild dodgy tummy atm, is so-so about food and has had 2 exploding poos - but out of pull-ups rather than nappies, so i'm keeping him in nappies for now - both nursery & pre-sch asked for him to be in pull-ups 'in case' he felt a sudden desire to use the loo....!

kidcreoleandthecoconuts · 15/07/2009 11:22

Thanks for the welcomes everyone
Halfmumhalfbiscuit My baby is no longer a baby, she's 17 months old now. I wasn't diagnosed with PND until she was 8 months old though. Looking back I was depressed throughout my pregnancy but didnt realise it until I was feeling better. I still have my bad and good days and have been told that I'm likely to be on AD's for ever as I have had a couple of previous major depressive episodes. The diet related theory is very interesting. I knew that blood sugar could have a huge effect on anxiety but I didnt realise it could also effect PND in this way. Anyway now you all know my life story !

Done-
Me and DD dressed
An hour of ironing
Emptied some bins

To Do-
Finish bins
Lunch
D/W on
Shop
post office
change bedding
hoover

PlumBumMum · 15/07/2009 12:48

WELCOME kidcreoleandthecoconuts, this is a brilliant thread to join always manages to cheer me up!

Right going to be quick as the washing is STILL here, I have really let it drag on!!

Went on line and read the insertions in the paper had a wee cry with dh, then went had a nice shower so feel much better now

So I am going to do the pile of dishes
(supposed to be going to go get a dishwasher today)
make lunch and then really try and get rid of this clean washing,
I've left it so long most needs ironed
my hall carpet is awful, haven't got hoover bags and my beam system is crap!

I really think I will get a dyson because everytime I get a hoover all of a sudden the bloomin bags are hard to get!

JustKeepSwimming · 15/07/2009 13:17

I like my dyson
is a beam system when you plug it into a hole in the wall like some hotels have?

jenduck · 15/07/2009 13:40

I really admire those of you that have full-time - or any - jobs! Just looking after a baby/child feels like full-time work & I have a very laid-back baby who is not yet on the move (unless you count constant rolling over!). I always thought I would be a career girl, but turns out I just don't want to leave DS. Plus the job I was in was only ever supposed to be a stop-gap while DH was at uni, then I was supposed to do my translation that I have an MA in. The best laid plans...

HalfMumHalfBiscuit - I translate from French & German (chiefly although some Spanish & Swedish also) into English. I don't have any knowledge of the oil industry but can do contracts, so if your company needs someone like that it'd be great if you could point them my way, thanks :-) BTW I sympathise on the size comments when pg - mainly from men who have no idea, I am sure you are glowing & it cannot be easy in this weather - so chin up! Come & whinge to us if they are mean again!

TODAY'S LIST (updated):

20 mins exercise bike DONE

JennyPenny22 · 15/07/2009 13:51

Plum - I have the dyson ball and love it! Makes it SO much easier to hoover and picks up all the cat hairs! I also have one of the battery oporated handheld ones and it was worth the £100 we bought it for. Makes tidying up after DD much easier and great for the stairs/spider webs/small gaps etc.

Todays list:

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/07/2009 14:29

My new Dyson handheld arrived yesterday - I love it! I was so fed up of having to get the big dyson out each time DS had a meal! I am about to order a ball Dyson, the animal one - very exciting as our current cylinder Dyson is 6 years old and dying.

JKS - yes I think that's what a beam system is, I covet one badly.

Plum - I told DH about it and we both got all upset thinking about the number of times we had DS in the bed with us when he was little. I feel so sad for you all

HMHB - that is a very interesting theory. I wasn't diagnosed until DS was 8 months, but looking back I think it started when I was in bed for 2 months with hyperemisis at the start of my pregnancy. It's a vicious circle though isn't it, for me anyway. When I feel down I want to eat rubbish and tend to skip the exercise, which makes me feel worse!
