I only change my kids beds when they lose that fresh smell/feeling. I don't have a regular set pattern for doing it and we are away at least one or two weekends a month. Sometimes it can be 3 weeks, even 4 between changes.

My mum strips her bed religously every week and i'm sure she'd be horrified if she thought i wasn't changing the kids as often.

i'd be interested how often other people change their kids beds. (kids are pre school btw.)

Oh, I am an utter frickin' slattern when it comes to changing kids beds. Especially when DS in particular is full of cold. Clean sheets, next morning, smeared with vile green snot. I tend to just fold his duvet over it and pretend like it's just not there

I WISH I was a once a week gal, I really do.

Didn't really know that about washing machines and driers and fire risk - I usually put them on when I go out , can't put them on at night as DD's room is right above the utility and she'd hear, and I work during the day, and if it all waited until the weekend I'd be washing all weekend.

SOLOisMeredithGrey · 08/06/2009 21:37

You can limit the fire risks with tumble driers...

Clean the filter after every use and wash the filter out at least once a year, more if you use it a lot. Ensure that the area around the air inlet is clear and not dusty.

nickschicks -- please don't febreeze your DCs bed, all of those chemicals will get in their lungs and god knows what the longterm affect will be.

We have fresh PJs every other day and sheets about once a week or a bit more if we are being disorganised!

lol! i wish i had staff... my mum does all her beds every other day, i must have inherited it. i do it more often if i have time. i sleep much better in a clean bed, as does DS!
also have clean towel every time it is used with the exception of the handtowel in the bathroom which gets changed each day.
same for clothes some times twice! yes i am awfully bad to the enviroment, but in my defence i dont drive i cycle everywhere! lol!
i do 2 sometime 3 loads a day and there is only myself and DS! today i have done 5 loads but i have washed the curtains!

MollieO · 08/06/2009 22:24

Every fortnight unless I am trying to be a domestic goddess, in which case every week. Ds's pjs every day or every other day.

nickschick · 08/06/2009 23:26

noonki i dont febreeze the bit they lie on - i febreze it - then turn the mattress so it has a week to die down- it hasnt killed any of them yet - when dc were small there was no such thing as febreze so i used to use nursery cleaning fluid ....

If I won the lottery I won have someone to change my bed every day, as I have not won the lottery and have in fact been made redundant it is a bit less than that

ilove2shop · 09/06/2009 22:01
