thanks for all the champagne advice!

DS came home with a cut on his finger from nursery (cut himself with scissors). Injury Number 3 when he fell off his bike in the garden. Not sure what's occured but looks like he's perhaps bitten his bottom lip and grazed above and under the lips with the gravel. there was lots of blood. Poor thing, he is in the wars and looks awful - chicken pox spots still on his face (fading), bash on the head and now this on his mouth.

DD not had a sleep either - I will pay later!

Thanks galen for inspiration - I made hot cross buns in the bread machine. haven't tried yet but look good. BUT how on earth do you do that sugar glaze thing? All I achieved was a sticky mass which clogged up my pastry brush and went solid before I could get it on the buns!

swan Ikea is hellish - I am shattered today with the walking round - it was only nice to get out with DH! how sad.
grouchy hope you have enjoyed Owl concert!
wolf how's the house looking? still a tip?
saga hope the anti bios kicking in and you are still under the duvet
Bianca hope you get to girls' night out and enjoy it
greyskull hope you're still feeling sunshiney! I love the early days of sunshine when it is still cool (I don't like hot weather much)

gibbberish · 01/04/2009 16:09

Hellooooooooo! Sorry have been awol - work and party got in the way! Just a mad dash in and out - taking dd3 and dd4 to dancing.

grouchyoscar · 01/04/2009 16:20

Hello again

()() thinking of mad and family

Yay for the thread Greyskull

Good news re the house Wendy Ed's class were excellent at reciting The Owl and the pussycat. I think they were amazing and the best group but I may be biased

Happy B'day to Galen's DC

Scatty you're right, they grow up way too fast. I'm honoured that I've been lucky enough to be a SAHM for Ed and share this too short time

Great to dee you bianca

How do Swan

Crazy afternoon for me. Lunchtime assistant then taxi to the college, meet and get much info from the post graf teaching people, taxi straight back to school, watch the poetry, collect Ed and Home (phew). Boris is grumbling (bah) and a feeling much better DH has put me to bed with a cuppa (bless him ) He's making our tea too.

Really positive stuff re teacher training and the possibility of part time modular study which might be better for me cosidering the pressures of ed/DH/Boris. I have a few months to get stuff sorted so I'm very positive.

The Head at the school has sounded me out about heading a new PTA and suggested I consider a Parent Govenor position I'm stunned to say the least.

Well, better charge the lappy so laters ladies

grouchyoscar · 01/04/2009 16:22

Quick hello all

wendy I got the cake stuff and article today. Thanks sooo much . Cake looks great - will do tomorrow! Inspired again by raised bed article - and yay have now found a use for falling down dining room shelves!
And such a sweet card! It was the nicest post I've had in ages.... does that make me sad? LOL

everyone-else Hi! cant stay now as on my own again tonight and littlies grumbling.... bed time approaches I think!

Hope to BBL

sagacious · 01/04/2009 18:41

Hope your ds had a fab day galen bythepower yes it does !
grouch you always seem so "together" perfect parent governer material !
waves to gibberish long time no see

Waves to everyone

I did the 28 thing pick up/put away amazing how much difference it makes I have far too much "random may come in useful in a few years" stuff

Dc's have played beutifully this afternoon (also had ds's friend over who was lovely) so I've got a pretty tidy house and happy children

Waiting for dh to come (he's had a day from Hell .. redundancies looming after he's already taken a whacking great pay cut) so will be good for him to come back to a happy house for a change.

Right I'm waffling now (and I've not even had a drink !!!)

Off to chuck fish pie in the oven (inspired by someone on this threads fish pie!)

grouchyoscar · 01/04/2009 19:29

Hello again

I had my tea (rainbow rice, scrummy lovely and there's some left for Ed's lunch on Friday then I

Tidied away
Load DW and run
Clean table
Clean hob
Cut slab of rocky road crunch into portions
Make Ed's lunchpack
Get uniform ready
Bring down drying washing
Load and run TD
Hang up wet washing to dry
Put away Huge mound of dry washing
Bath Ed
Re-make the bed
get in it

DH is making job hunting progress, seems 3 firms are interested in him so it looks hopeful.

Ed ussing for moshi monster time so I better scarper. Manyana manyana

galen · 01/04/2009 19:40

sag it was my fish pie! turned out nice, although DD2 maintains she doesnt liek FP(but doesnt like anything else either so )

Quick hello again .... hope everyone is having a smooth evening

have to report I have finally cleared the dining room bookcase YAY

This has achieved several things:

  1. horrible old tatty bookcase gone from dining room
  2. more space created in cramped dining room
3.Lots of rubbish discovered and culled 4.Potential hotspot removed(everyone dumps stuff on the shelves!)
  1. Useful items reorgenised and rehomed
  2. - the best bit - I now have an instant raised bed in my back garden for veggies! Took the back off book case and laid it on its back and "ta da" a perfect raised bed! Still has shelves in - may remove or just rearrange as it could be useful divided into sections!Think it may become my nursery bed for seedlings before moving them to the main patch I've cleared....

So not a bad evenings work!
Still a few bits and pieces to sort in dining room...
Also got lots done in garden today - 2/3 borders cleared/weeded/tidied now - one to go!
House a bit of disaster elsewhere but will tackle tomorrow so not stressing

Also tomorrow:
DS2's Bday cake
Simnel cake (postponed from today!)
Hopefully buy paint for dining room
Buy compost for new raised bed LOL

Right off to wrap Ds2's pressies, then read, then bed.

Night all!

gibbberish · 01/04/2009 20:21

Hi sagacious

ehm dd1 is fine thanks. The Ball has taken over all our lives atm (it's this Saturday aaargh) so that has definitely taken her mind off the op, thank goodness.

Hi everyone else. Hope you are out having a great time bianca

wendy had to laugh at you having a night out with dh at ikea

Done virtually NO flying all week. My house has been taken over by balloons, napkins, paper plates, forks, knives, spoons, ball gowns, net and hooped underskirts and helium canisters!! Just want Saturday OVER with now. Am going to put pics of the girls in their dresses on my profile next week for you to have a peek at

Anyway, everything is organised and we are ready to party!

Wolfcub · 01/04/2009 20:51

evening all

Fundraising meeting went really well, the other ladies are lovely. I am going to be a very busy bunny.

grouchy we should try to catch up soon definately. I think you would be a great governor and fingers crossed for dh.

wendy poor ds, he is having a rough day, I hope dd gets a good night's sleep.

swan would jellyfish be suitable as a craft fair item? Could an only basically skilled sewer make one?

gibber I hope the ball goes fabulously.

sag and galen well done on the declittering

prof summer camp sounds great - I used to go to summer school with church for a week in the summer hols. It was great really good to get some space and really good to see my parents when they came to the end of week show!

ehm helllllooooooo.

greyskull yes other children's poo definately smells worse.

done
ds picked up from granny's

Ludaloo · 01/04/2009 21:12

Wolfcub · 01/04/2009 21:35

luda good to see you. I've just had a look at your RFL photos and it made me feel all nostalgic for my uni days.

Ludaloo · 01/04/2009 21:36

wolfcub lol at your decluttering mis- spelling

gibbberish · 01/04/2009 21:37

I'm fine thanks.

Had a shock with dd1 the other week - found she has giant tumour and has to have mastectomy and reconstruction when she is older She is fine about it atm and handling it very well - op on the 15th.

Apart from that the other girls are doing very well. Holding a 'Grand Ball' on Saturday for 100 teens so we are all rather demented busy with that atm Ball gowns and kilts to be worn so are having photos taken. Will put some on my profile next week!

Ludaloo · 01/04/2009 21:38

I am sooo unfit ATM....that was last year...I haven't been quite so keen this year!

gibbberish · 01/04/2009 21:39

Ludaloo · 01/04/2009 21:40
