Ruby Your post yesterday was so apt, I too treat and comfort eat and yesterday DS1 finnished his reward chart and asked for a treat of sweets . I realised that it is not good to see sweet things as a reward, so I have decided that they can have a few in moderation.

I have also dug out the popcorn maker and bought a bag of popping corn yesterday for when we are feeling the need to pick.

I am trying to ensure that I do something cool with the children each day till my operation. If something happens I wouldnt want to be remembered for my clean house, but as the mummy who took them swimming each week or fell on her bumb in the ice whilst trying to help them rise their bike, whilst following with a teatowel in the toy buggy

Today

DS1 to Preschool
DS2 and me to Aldi with mum
DS1 from preschool
Lunch
Swimming
Collect DS2 from mums
Whats for dinner - wolfs sausage and bean cas
Ironing

Oh - I started to watch Terry Pratchett last night but fell asleep, in fact I was in bed asleep by 9.15

Morning Thanks for thread TMH I have visions of you wandering along behind boys on bikes with a teatowel in the toy buggy

Tortoise is doing well She's been sorry to have to miss out on joining her kids sledging but is getting more comfortable.

We've always done far too many food related treats too - I have been stock-piling stickers lately to offer instead; the kids are just as happy with a set of stickers as they were sweets tbh. We have "sweetie day" on a Friday after school

We had more snow than on previous days over-night so the village school has closed today (yay!) Ds will finally be able to go out and enjoy the snow Dd is still poorly and is very upset to have to miss all the fun today The sledging hill is just up the road from our house so I'm hopeful she may have the energy to come for a quick go at some point.

I have been getting back on track with my weight loss after my success last year (and downhill turn over Christmas)

Since early Jan I have walked everywhere I can - I rarely use the car now other than going to work.
I do 30mins a night on a cross-trainer (6 nights a week, 1 night I go for a walk round te village) which I hated initially but have to admit I love now I've never really got excersise before but I'm really feeling the benefits to my mood already
I only shop online, this way I have few treats in the house and have to plan meals properly.
We have Friday after school as sweet treat day (this includes a treat for me too)
I eat with teh kids duing th eweek to avoid picking at thier food.
I only drink water or Redbush tea.
I've been making lots of veg soup to fill up at lunchtime.
Erm...that's probably it....5lbs of Christmas weight has gone and I'm feeling much better. My hope is to get to be 10st something by my birthday in May - am 11st 6ish atm.

swanriver · 05/02/2009 09:22

I find that's the prob with baking unless there are loads of guests. I or ds1 who is rather greedy end up eating all the cakes!

I found two tier meals seriously damaging to waistline, and ranted to dh a lot about how I now had to have supper with kids in week (he gets back too late to share usually) We tried out it out for a bit, and I just sat with him had a small salad etc, when he ate his evening meal at 8.30 rather than eating it myself. But I don't think it really worked - he wanted to EAT supper with me not just have me at the table.
I've found only solution is to have a proper snack (cheese sandwich?) at 5.30 without gobbling up leftovers so that I can get through to supper with dh, and then just eat a bit less than him.
Walking is fabulous, I do a lot of it, and all my shopping on foot which is probably a bit mad.
Bianca my goal is to GET back to 11st 6lbs used to be 10.5 in my 20's. I'm 5 10". I've thrown out scales tho'- kids kept bouncing on them and they are VERY misleading.

swanriver · 05/02/2009 09:33

O and had a nice evening with dh watching Grand Designs just on spur of moment. Usually find I'm doing houseworky things and he's watching by himself if at all, but it was so nice to sit down with him and chat while we watched (he probably didn't like chatting bit but still). Must remember to do more nice things with dh!!!

Wolfcub · 05/02/2009 10:32

morning all

at home today waiting for the gas man. It's freezing and the snow is coming down steadily.

done
made bed
took ds to nursery
took dp to work
tidied up a few toys and bits, more to do when I finish my coffee
sorted out stuff with the insurance company - we should finally get replacements/vouchers for the rest of the stuff that was taken by the middle of the month

bianca glad tort is doing better. Can I have your veg soup recipe please?

I still have 3 stone to lose, I was doing pretty well until christmas when I put half a stone on, lost it and put it back on again grrr. I try very hard not to snack and generally don't do puddings but I'm also a comfort eater and yesterday was a VERY bad day. Maybe we could motivate each other an post our lost pounds flylady styleee.

mad watched the Terry Pratchett programme, it was really good looks like there will be another next week.

Eustacia are you my friend on FB? I can't remember (other than Mad) who's who (I'm KW in a field with ripped jeans...)

Ruby .. have always wanted to try pole dancing (my gym has started doing lessons..)

EustaciaVye · 05/02/2009 11:08

It's nice to have to share photos and stuff. And I've found a few old school mates/work mates have contacted me so I have kept up with them. I dont really use it for playing games or anything. Might be worth a browse. I'll be your friend if you join so you wont be billy-no-mates.

Morning all. Very snowy here. Roads terrible.
Drove Dc to school to find it closed so home again via Morrisons for a few emergeny bits and bobs!
So now all home again and had really unhealthy snack of hot choc and biscuits!

Lots of good points about children being more important than clean floors LOL Thanks!
Not feeling so bad today. House still in chaos but hey!

Up since around 2 am last night DD 3 up with a cough from 2 - 3.30. DD4 woke up crying at 4.00 (bad dream I think) She woke Ds2 - fed and coaxed back to sleep - took till 5am, then all overslept till 6.45. Mad rush to get ready for school , only to find it shut ho-hum

So not going to stress today. Not much flying will get done with al 6 here but never mind! Will try and find fun things to do this afternoon!

Oh and totally agree that baking is disatrous for diets! Still I love cooking/baking and as there are so many of us at least I dont get to eat too much myself LOL!

right must dash - need to sort lunch.
BBL

mad I think it's lovely doing so many nice things with your boys. All will be fine though, but still lovely!

grouchyoscar · 05/02/2009 12:03

Morning

Morning routines done so

DONE

Up and washed
Dress
Make breakfast
Wash
S&S Loo
S&S bathroom
Dress Ed
Have brekkie
S&S worktops
Shine sink
Bags ready
Set off with Ed

It started snowing so I rang school, it's open . Set off to school, half way there the school shut so about turn and home again!

My appointment at the Uni has been swapped to telephone based so I don't have to venture to the pennines on public transport. Hated altering it as I don't want to be a member of the 'It's snowing!' - PANIC' brigade but....

Ed had a friend stay while her mum got supplies. That was fun but the house is a mess. So

TO DO

Tidy Ed's room
Tidy front room
Clean the deep fryer (doing it atm but it's huge and take ages to drain)
Make lunch
Vac front room

and, whatever needs doing.

Ruby Like your plan! 2nd hand books are good treats for DCs and cheaper than chips. Check the library and charity shops. Ed's teacher has a box of cheap bits that she gives out as treats. Stuff like wilko's paint pallets, small packs of pencils, horns, whistles (cheers ) and the stuff you put in party bags.

Jas Decaf tea needs to stew a bit to taste OK. I have to have a caffiene free diet cos of Boris but...I'm weak so limit myself to 1 'full fat' a day (2 or 3 at the weekend

TMH Me and Boris are sharing each other quite nicely at the moment thanks for asking. He can be quite begin at times .

Oh I better get off my butt and do something. The fryer must have drained by now

Wolfcub · 05/02/2009 12:29

afternoon all

dusted downstairs
going to have a quick defrost in front of the halogen heater and then brave the freezing kitchen

Wolfcub · 05/02/2009 12:29

grouchy apparently snow much worse in 'uddersfield. My friend still hasn't been able to get her car out of the street after the snow on monday

scattyspice · 05/02/2009 12:32

Hi all.

galen Poor you, that was a bad night!

Re exercise and weight loss. Have you looked at the noexcuses website (via flylady home page). I have signed uo and recieve emails every couple of days. Its good because it is realistic, the workouts start at a 6min exercise routine that you can do in your living room with no equipment. The cardio sesions can be dancing round your kitchen to a song or two (anything to get you out of breath) my DC love it when I do this! I agree I am finding it almost impossible to get out for a run atm!

Today
visit friend after school
laundry
mission
tel mum
book nursery

EustaciaVye · 05/02/2009 12:32

Sag - not sure we are friends. I am on the MN secret group though so you can find me (if I dont find you first).

Ruby - you can do it with a hotmail account.

Still done nothing here except make/eat lunch

BiancaCastafiore · 05/02/2009 12:40

Swan I was 14st 4 in June '07 and have been managing to steadily lose the weight since then - slow and steady in the hope of keeping it off
Wolf I just fry off some onions then butternut squash, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, leeks and carrots. Add a load of stock when everything is soft, simmer for a bit then mash with a potato masher It's just a made-up bung everything in a pan kind of thing but at least dh, dd and I like it
Ruby We're very lucky that I'd feel safe going out any time of day/night here. We were given a cross-trainer a couple of years ago by some friends who moved so we've finally set it up in the bedroom (it's massive!)
Oh, and I have fb with a hotmail account

We have been out sledging - dd managed to come too which is great She's doing pretty well so far today

Dh has gone to work now so we're going to have lunch and maybe build a snowman before we snuggle in front of the telly. Dd has soem spellings to learn just in case school opens tomorrow...

TheMadHouse · 05/02/2009 12:53

Afternon all

I used to have the number for a local handyman who was quite good but I have lost it
