with all the hair bobbles, scrunchies, slides, clips etc?

I have 2 DDs, both of whom have their hair tied back for school.

I buy a hundredweight of the feckin things every term it seems, but bugger me, they've always disappeared 2 weeks in. Then I find them all over the place, down the backs of sofas, under beds, in pockets, in the washing round the dog's ears .

Help me. Where do you store them?

I put them in a hanging thing with pockets which is on her door. I also keep her tights and socks in it. I still find them everywhere though especially the car.

princessmel · 07/01/2009 22:37

I put dd's on a cubby hole shelf ( you know the type, with different sections in it) in her room. Up high out of her reach.

Whenever I find one round the house I put it back.

PurplePillow · 07/01/2009 22:38

I got a container with a handle on it from claire's accessories and also use a carrier bag for the excess and I have only 1 DD

pofaced · 07/01/2009 22:38

hairbrush handle and pot/ bowl on each one's dressingtable/ chest of drawers

I have 3 DDs...

RustyBear · 07/01/2009 22:38

I used to keep DD's on one of those upright pole kitchen roll holders - this type

Hulababy · 07/01/2009 22:39

WE have tons of hair stuff. They are all supposed to live in a box in DD's room on her shelves. However I always fine them lying around and we always only ever seemto find odd bobbles/slides and never a matching pair.

frogs · 07/01/2009 22:39

Lose the will to live or cut their hair into short bobs.

RustyBear · 07/01/2009 22:39

The clips I had on a ribbon hanging from her dressing table mirror

Simplysally · 07/01/2009 22:40

Most of them are on the back of the toilet cistern where they come off for hair washing/bathing. Unorthodox.... but it seems to work.

My Mum has a stash around her house as well in a plastic box.

I keep saying when I was a little girl we had nasty elastic bands and proper hair bobbles were a luxury - it's the same look I get when I reminicise about 3 tv channels and no remote controls .

onepieceofbrusselssprout · 07/01/2009 22:40

HuwEdwards I feel your pain...I also have a crawling baby so I think she eats some of them which makes it worse!

They all get dumped on the shelf at the top of the stairs when we find them.

I am going to buy some sort of tub/basket as they are defeating me now tbh.

Yes princessmel is right - keep it out of their reach. Otherwise more get wasted/used in dollies' hair. or she tips them all over the bed and leaves them there. Drives me crackers.

Great thread.

... and don't believe in making Mr Claire's accessories any richer than he is.. Primark ADULT section good for cheap, utilitarian hair stuff

princessmel · 07/01/2009 22:40

she has this in her room. The bobbles go in a bowl in the top middle shelf

frogs · 07/01/2009 22:41

A matching pair, Hula? Now that would be impressive. A matching pair of socks would be a good day in the frogpond, never mind hair elastics.

Dd2 is still wearing your dd's outgrown tights, btw!

Simplysally · 07/01/2009 22:41

Oh her Pegasus head wears some as well .

frumpygrumpy · 07/01/2009 22:43

basket in the wardrobe, basket in the bathroom, basket by the mirror where the hairdryer goes. Most of ours end up in one of the baskets. I have 2 DDs and I use the odd band too. Personally I find yelling like a fishwife solves most problems

HuwEdwards · 07/01/2009 22:44

Sleepycat, I've told you not to call me Bob

lol at Brussels baby eating them!

Yes I forgot the thing that really bugs me, finding all the bleeding bobbles impossibly tangled in dolls hair.

Sally we had 2 of those bloody decapitated heads horses....

When dd first had her Pegasus head, I thought I was going to wake up one day and find it in my bed. Probably read too many Mafia books.... .

Fimbo · 07/01/2009 22:55

Oh Barbie has had many a hair cut in my house too.

DD is supposed to keep bobbles in a box in her bedroom but we find them all over the place.

RustyBear · 07/01/2009 23:01

You need a hair booble plate.
Just don't drop it down the back of the loo...

Linnet · 07/01/2009 23:02

I have a small box which is sitting on the sideboard in the livingroom with all the new bobbles and clasps that dd2 got for christmas in it. There are also some that she got a few months ago that I did a rake around the house for and came up with loads and popped them in this box.

I find our bobbles everywhere as we all have long hair, even dh! So we have loads of bobbles lying around, although you can never find one when you want one. But that is now changing because of my little box.

AccidentalMum · 07/01/2009 23:04

They are magnetic . A largeish bare, boring disc magnet will keep loads safe discreetly round the side of the fridge (round the front is gross!).

GrimmaTheNome · 07/01/2009 23:06

boxes/bowls strategically located where bobbles are likely to be removed (kitchen, bedroom, bathroom).

Back seat of car is still DDs receptacle of choice though, of course

triggerfish · 07/01/2009 23:39

cut the childs hair short and make the hair accessories into a junk modelling sculpture, or laminate them so they can't get hold of the damned things!!
