with all the hair bobbles, scrunchies, slides, clips etc?

I have 2 DDs, both of whom have their hair tied back for school.

I buy a hundredweight of the feckin things every term it seems, but bugger me, they've always disappeared 2 weeks in. Then I find them all over the place, down the backs of sofas, under beds, in pockets, in the washing round the dog's ears .

Help me. Where do you store them?

I have a tin in the living room and one in the bathroom.

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 07/01/2009 23:43

My mooncup is currently out of service due to me being newly pregnant (yay!) and it's on the bathroom shelf, freakily with a selection of hair bobbles around the top of it! Dh responsible - what can I say?

serenity · 08/01/2009 01:05

We have a plastic box on the back of the toilet cistern, they also end up in the pockets of mine and DH's dressing gowns (depending on which one I grab first) Apart from that, under the beds, under the sofa, on random window sills, eaten by the greater spotted bobble eater.

zazen · 08/01/2009 01:16

I covered a shoe box with lovely paper and all hair brushes and accessories go in it. It's on a shelf on the landing.

Every time I find one it goes into the box, and now DD (4.5) puts hers away herself. She's in charge of it as they are her hair bobbles / brushes etc.

I keep the boring old black and brown ones for myself in a little ceramic plate on my bedside table, and every time I find one of them around the house - in my bag etc etc I put it back on it's plate.

It's amazing how many we have though....

FourArms · 08/01/2009 06:50

I buy a pack of 30 from Primark every time we go in. I get the really long ones - almost like hair bands - they're fab and only £1! I tend to use the same one for ages, then do a round up / buy more every time I run out. Only me that needs them though (2 DS's).

2sugarsandapuppy · 08/01/2009 06:54

You restrain yourself and wind the remainder on the end of the hairbrushes. Least that's what I do

breaghsmum · 08/01/2009 12:50

when my sister and i were small, my mum had a roses tin filled with bobbles, clips, hairbands and brushes. we had it for years. when i got older and wanted my own choice, i stole a mug tree from the kitchen and hung my bobbles on that.

Fillyjonk · 08/01/2009 12:51
  1. cut dd's hair short
  1. box by door
mrshammond · 08/01/2009 13:15

My DD has a box on her dressing table but I also find them everywhere. I ended up getting some little tins and have put them in strategic places, bathroom, dining room and one on my dressing table. I also keep a stash in her football bag and she keeps some in her school bag.

THEY ARE THE CURSE OF THE GODS AND I HATE THEM!!!!!

EachPeachPearMum · 08/01/2009 14:00

We have a tupperware container in the bathroom... she's pretty good about not losing them. Only one of her cuddlies is allowed to have bobbles on... and then only the vile colours which I don't put on dd anyway (orange!)

Clary · 08/01/2009 14:30

DD?s live variously in a drawer in her set of toy drawers (in a tangle of hairbrushes etc) or (in a more contained way) in my make-up drawer.

Actually we have just had her hair cut short (it was getting very very thin so are trying to thicken it up) so not so vital now.

But agree with others, a) can never find a pair (Santa bought her a new bag of ?school? red ones as the bag she had from 3 yrs ago was totally empty ? where do they go???) and b) always have them in jeans pockets, handbags, by kitchen sink etc. Sadly these two never seem to get together to make one good pair.

Seeline · 08/01/2009 14:35

It's one of the few things I actually have organised. DH 'donated' one of those mini sets of draws that you keep nails, screew etc in. Each draw has ties or clips in in matching colours I am so proud!

donnie · 08/01/2009 14:36

I find a number 2 haircut sorts out the problem!

Sonnet · 08/01/2009 14:37

I too vote for strategically placed boxes!!

When the boxes start to become empty I "Pay" the DD's 2p a bobble to round them all up from ther lurking places
It works though!

BonsoirAnna · 08/01/2009 14:37

DD (4) has a make-up and hair accessory drawer in her desk in her bedroom...

whoingodsnameami · 08/01/2009 14:38

Mine are ina trifle bowl on top of the fridge

CatchaStar · 08/01/2009 14:39

I've got 2 pink boxes for storing this kind of crap in dd's room. 1 box is for arts and crafts type things and the other is to keep all her hairstuff in. I was sick of loosing them, they cost so much to replace!

I'm loving the idea of having a hanging thing with pockets on the door though. May have to invest in one as dd keeps getting into the boxes.

AmIOdetteOrOdile · 08/01/2009 14:41

oooh - wasn't there scrunchy storing envy a while back, with someone having a specially made tool for this - must see if I can find it!!!

dsrplus8 · 08/01/2009 14:44

my dds have a lidded toy box for their hair stuff, but dd2 puts her hairbobbles around a tin of hairspray.(13yrs)dd3 leaves them everywhere

funnypeculiar · 08/01/2009 14:44

dd has an old jewellery box with drawers etc to 'encourage' fun tidying. Stupid, optimistic fool.
And her hair is so short she doesn't ever use them. Feck knows why I don't bin the lot.

NorbertDentressangle · 08/01/2009 14:45

DD aged 9 has hundreds of a few boxes, pots, containers that she keeps them in but when you want some normal straightforward bands for school you can never find them only the impractical, sparkly or fluffy frippery.

dsrplus8 · 08/01/2009 14:46

you could try getting a kitchen roll holder(upright, freestanding) and paint it to match dd's room.

tweetyfish · 08/01/2009 14:47

Mine are on the antenna of the kitchen radio.. not pretty but it works...

The worse ones here are the tiny plasticky ones which are the only ones that stay in DD's hair - but you can never uncurl the flipping things!

cikecaka · 08/01/2009 14:54

Ours are in the basket in the downstairs bathroom along with the hair brush

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 08/01/2009 14:58

I don't have daughters but do have one of these in my bedside drawers to keep this sort of stuff in.
