making good progress. None of its being done particularly well but have now:

dining room: vac. Polish table.
living room, hall, dust and vac.
Bathroom: clean loo, bath, sink, tiles
Put bedding back on.
Cleaned out fire place and laid fire

just need to:
Jumper wash
Clean out guinea pigs.
vac upstairs.
Wipe desk again - the cats have muddy paws this am. grrrrr.

Then I dunno whether to make a start on the weeks emails/paperwork or do that tomorrow like intended.

TheNewYearNewMadHouse · 05/01/2009 12:22

Afternoon all

Preschool went really well - he said he likes mornings and has made new friends. He was a little sore and really glad to see me.

He is now changed out of uniform and had lunch

Dumblesdoor you said no fly so I stayed away. Why dont you choose another zone then instead of the kitchen and start there along with the babysteps.

Anne Well done DD2

I am going to get DS2 up for a nap, but first to stop world war three. Back later

Panic is descending as I have to go to work in 30 mins and still have not reached bare minimum of order in this house.
Whashing what a good word sums up whacking the laundry into shape.

I have loaded and unloaded dishwasher
cleared sideboard and 2 tables
put away saucepans
2 loads of laundry washed and hung up
small pile of ironing put on one side ever hopeful
I load of laundry put away
3 PE bags put in hall (they only have games tomorrow could not face organising first thing)
Pile of books from kids rooms to pass on
Xmas card recycling pile
2 beds made
Some craft work heading upstairs to memory crate
Stuffed all of dd clothes in drawers and will sort later rather than get sidetracked...
found 3rd pair of school gloves
Put all recycling near front door
Put all paperwork to do in one pile

NOW
Wipe worktops
Spray bath with flash to scrub later
Get dressed in smarter clothes

Galen - sympathise

galen · 05/01/2009 12:27

Right nearly finished tea - must get on!

AnneOfAvonlea · 05/01/2009 12:30

Hello All. Just collected DD2 and she was a star. No tears and happy all morning, and I didnt stay with her. She is just turned 2, LucyJones, which is what I thought it would be much harder.

DumbledoresGirl - Hello Do your bathroom instead of your kitchen.

NAB3lovelychildren · 05/01/2009 12:32

I so wanted to do this and just can not get motivated. I just want to run away.

AnneOfAvonlea · 05/01/2009 12:36

Nab - you can do it. I know you but was diff name last time you ventured here.

Those of you who havent shined your sink go and check you have the cleaning products to do it tonight. Load the dishwasher or wash up and try and stay on top of the dishes until bedtime when you shine your sink.

I am busy FLYing though, not just sitting around eating chocolate.

Welcome all the FLYbabies

grouchyoscar · 05/01/2009 13:15

Nab3 You don't have to run away, run here and we'll 'help' in our own way. May I suggest that you don't think about what you've got to do but what you have done. It's taken me a year to think about zones and routines. If something has been done, better than nothing and before you know it you've cracked on with many jobs without noticing or much effort. Work smarter, not harder

Galen one of the early babysteps is to build a bedtime routine. I found that a lifesaver. I do the lunches and pack school bags the night before so it's stress free in the morning. I was sick of getting up earlier and earlier and getting no where fast.

OK, I'm making soup for tea and I've

Hung up wet washing to dry
Emptied DW
Put away
brought down damp washing
Load TD and run x2

Having Lunch now then I will

Sweep and mop the kitchen
Collect Ed
Buy stamps and post letters
Lunch boxes to make up
Ed's homework

And whatever is to come next

sagacious · 05/01/2009 13:15

LucyJones · 05/01/2009 13:31

AnneOfAvonlea - that is vey good to hear, so hopefully tomorrow I can dump and run

DumbledoresGirl · 05/01/2009 13:31

Oops did I say I didn't want to hear from obsessive flyladies? How rude of me. I meant I did not want to follow the flylady routine shining my sink every day as that really is the least of my problems. I would have liked to have heard your tips though for general cleaning as you are clearly the experts.

TBH I don't think I can keep up with you ladies as my house is a building site at the moment. I don't even have access to hot water (or half my rooms). But I will keep looking for tips for keeping on top of it all.

Anne, must reply to your email. Glad dd2 enjoyed herself. What a weight off your mind.

wendythepositivethinker · 05/01/2009 13:38

Just checking in will return later.
Mad Grouchy Wolf Think Feb 21st is fine with me -well i will make it fine!

Jas · 05/01/2009 13:49

DG - We don't all follow the FLYlady routine on here. I found the babysteps very useful to help me set up my own routine, and just use this thread for motivation (which is my biggest problem).

I have skimmed your thread and decluttering is the way to go, as has been said.
We have alot less stuff lying around and it make the whole place easier to tidy, then you can use something like the list for each room the TMH kindly posts most Mondays to do the extra bits in one room/area.

The next thing that helps here, is that if I see something small that needs doing, rather than just make a mental note to do it, I actually do it!

Bathroom and kitchen done

AnneOfAvonlea · 05/01/2009 13:50

DG - create a morning routine which includes laundry & dishwasher (might be tricky if you are mid-refurbishment). Something like this:

  1. Make bed
  2. Swish & Swipe en suite bathroom
  3. Put a wash load in
  4. Empty dishwasher
  5. Feed cat & fish
  6. Check calendar
  7. DRINK SOME WATER
  8. Clear away breakfast things
  9. Think about what you want for dinner - take out meat if necessary.
10. 2 minute hotspot 11. 5 minute room rescue

Do the same for the evening and make sure you include putting clothes away and getting clothes out for the next day.

Always take something upstairs when you go up.

DD demanding attention but will post some more later.

AnneOfAvonlea · 05/01/2009 13:51

Also get a whiteboard for the kitchen and write down jobs on it as you see them. DH pays attention and sometimes even does them

NAB3lovelychildren · 05/01/2009 14:12

Have done all the washing.
Made mince pies.
Loaded and put on dishwasher.
Prepped as much as possible for tea.
Folded up some washing.
Closed my email boxes.

Off to clear my bed now.

starbear · 05/01/2009 14:13

AnneOfAvonlea, What a brill idea white board in the kitchen means that I can tick off or add as I go along. As you rightly say other people can see the chores that need doing and get on with someof it It their house too. Lovely
