does mine need a wash?

OP posts:
chloemegjess · 22/10/2008 10:02

I put mine in the wash everytime i have a bath/shower. I don't like putting anything worn on after a shower.

Anna8888 · 22/10/2008 10:03

I mostly buy bras and knickers in sets with one bra to two pairs of knickers - so my bra does two days. I have a bath every day.

shootfromthehip · 22/10/2008 10:08

Depends on organisation- usually every two wears. Coloured ones that get worn every now and again may get washed with their matching pants unless they have to be worn immediately again eg the next day.

When BF it HAD to be after each wear- I hated the idea of stinking like an off yogurt. yuk.

OrmIrian · 22/10/2008 10:10

2 or 3 days maybe.

Sports bras everytime I use it.

lucysmam · 22/10/2008 14:11

I wear matching undies, new set every day! One of the few things I make sure I get for me is nice, well fitting, matching undies & I handwash bra's to keep them nice

funkypumkin · 22/10/2008 14:26

I do mine every day not for cleanliness reasons but 'cos the support just isn't there unless they're freshly laundered.

Suedonim · 22/10/2008 14:50

Think we had a previous thread on this where I posted that I have clean undies every day. If you buy in sales, bras aren't that expensive. I rarely pay full-price and recently bought the prettiest bra and knicks for £11 for both.

I don't get the wear-them-out-with-too-much-washing argument; I don't think I've ever actually worn out a bra. Agree with Funky, a bra worn for a second time just doesn't give the same support.

notyummy · 22/10/2008 15:06

Lordy, no wonder the planet is draining of fresh water with you lot around!

Sports bra....clean everytime.

Other bra....until I sniff and it may vaguely smell. I mean, come on, unless you have a major hygiene problem (sweat excessively) or are bf, you do not need to change everyday surely?

I change pants everyday, and socks. Other clothes get washed when they smell or have stains. Jeans have lasted...lets just say, a very long time..between washes before. I use the same system for dd. Occasionally there are days where she does not leave stains on her clothes...so I wont wash them.

IMVHO I think doing otherwise is v wasteful; on a par with putting 4 items in the dishwasher and letting it run.

bigscaryorangespiderami · 22/10/2008 15:07

I have 4 bras, and put on a fresh one every other day. So I can afford to wash bras once a week or so. But they don't get worn any longer than 2 days.

Bluebutterfly · 22/10/2008 15:11

Bra - change every 2 days. But I do endeavour to clean myself every day - how dirty can it possibly get? It is not like it sits next to genitalia (or is in my armpits).

MorticiaAnnSpookington · 22/10/2008 15:11

clean one every day here

Suedonim · 22/10/2008 15:17

I never put just four bras in the WM and run it - chance would be a fine thing! Maybe my skin is drier than most people's but if I wear a dark bra then I can see lots of skin flakes on it when I take it off so don't want to wear it again. I suppose I could give it a shake out the window, giving the neighbours a thrill, and then wear it again.

notyummy · 22/10/2008 15:21

OK suedonim..bad analogy! I just meant that all these bras (and some cases clean clothes everyday for some people...whether needed or not)must means lots of extra washing and lots of extra water/electricity/powder. Apologies in advance for those of you who wash your bras by hand while you have a shower (which is what I do to save hand washing them in the sink )

mrsmaidamess · 22/10/2008 15:23

I hand wash mine about once a fortnight.

Marne · 22/10/2008 15:24

Evry day as my bra always needs to match my knikers

bamboostalks · 22/10/2008 15:25

Rarely.

Suedonim · 22/10/2008 15:34

I now have visions of you trampling on your bras as you shower, to wash them!

Suedonim · 22/10/2008 15:35

Or maybe you shower actually wearing your bra? Am intrigued, now!

wonderstuff · 22/10/2008 15:39

So glad other people have the same laudry routine as me

notyummy · 22/10/2008 15:45

No, not IN the bra Just bring one or two in with me and use shampoo etc to give them a lather before rinsing at the same time as me! Technique developed when in military with access to very few washing machines and very little time. Now washing machines are not a problem, but time and saving the planet come into play instead. Very satisfying...I am clean and have ticked one of my chores off the list as well...

Suedonim · 22/10/2008 15:49
Grin
lucysmam · 22/10/2008 16:45

Seudonim, I had never thought about doing it in the shower, good idea!

Suedonim · 22/10/2008 18:37

It's Notyummy's idea, not mine!

notyummy · 22/10/2008 19:10
Suedonim · 22/10/2008 20:04

You forgot the water-saving, Notyummy!
