today to try and get my house back to some sort of order (how does it descend into chaos so quickly?)

Don't know why but I'm feeling totally unmotivated and crappy, however my house is a tip again and I know that doesn't help my mood (ok it's never "good" but its usually at least acceptable) so I need to try and do something with it today to try and lift my mood a little.

Things I need to do are

Load the dishwasher (and put it on)
Washing, drying and ironing
Tidy the living room and hoover it
Tidy the kitchen (worktops, empty bin, floor etc)
Clean the bathroom (including emptying the bin, floor etc)

Need to get the DS's sorted before I start, but who will join me today??

okay have done dishes and dd2's dinner is in. been a bit thick though i cant prepare the flapjacks untill dinner is done because they need cooking and the oven is full. duh!

so while im waiting for dinner im gong to loacte dd1's dance things. now, where might they be hiding any ideas?

hippipotami · 09/09/2008 12:54

Argh, have not finished dining room, got distracted by a pile of outgrown/disintegrating shoes and clothes which are not fit for passing on to friends. Have just bagged them all up and walked down to the fabric adn shoe recycling / charity bin thing in teh village carpark.

I have made a start on the dining room - have taken all the piles of paperwork off the sideboard adn sorted them into action v recycle/shred.

But loads to do still and no motivation [sob]

toadette · 09/09/2008 12:59

Not much done on my list except some laundry. Ah well..

Have peeled the spuds and veg for tonight's dinner though and made pot of soup for lunch.

Trying not to get stuck in front of PC again, for too easy..

travellingwilbury · 09/09/2008 13:11

I have managed so far too

Get my ds from school and eat some lunch

Not entirely sure I am cut out for this housework malarkey . Anyone want to come and do it for me ?

My mum is going to be sooooo impressed when she gets here tomorrow if I don't get my arse into gear

FAQ · 09/09/2008 13:21

right since my last post I have

Emptied the bathroom bin
Emptied the recycling bin in the kitchen (and filled it up again )
Tidied, polished and hoovered the lounge part of the lounge/diner
Emptied the dishwasher, and reloaded it and set it off again

Now having a well deserved (I think ) sit down for a few minutes)

Yippee, dining room tidied and dusted

Will forget about the kitchen for now. It is raining and everytime the dog and cat go in and out more muddy footprints appear on teh floor. Will wipe worktops later before I start preparing dinner. Worktops not too bad in anyway, some homework from ds and soem veggies for tonights dinner. That's all. The floor is worst, but as I said, that's for later...

Am going to have some lunch now, am verrry hungry

FAQ · 09/09/2008 13:31

well done hippi - I'm just about to start my dining room (shouldn't take too long as most of the mess was confined to the living room end of the room

OP posts:
SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 09/09/2008 14:03

okay have done;
pots
load of washing
located most of dd1's dance things she will just have to o without the rest of it untill she remembers where she last had/it turns up/she has exams and needs new
flapjacks now in oven and im having a break while i time them.

then...

re-do porridge oat covered kitchen
hoover
pick up dd1.

FAQ · 09/09/2008 14:09

right I've tidied and cleaned the dining room - and in the process discovered that DS2 tipped his breakfast over one of my brand new (upholstered) dining chairs this morning - they had choco dots - so the milk was brown - and it's (obviously) soaked all the way in - I'm bloody fuming - not because he tipped it - accidents happen, but that he didn't bloody tell me.

I have NO idea how to get the mark out

Oh how wonderful. I'm not the only adult under the age of 90 who hates using the phone. . Ooh I feel better, I thought I was wierd. (and so does dh, hah, I'm going to tell him this).

I shall now get off MN and clean the bathroom.

(all motivated now)

fruitful · 09/09/2008 14:11

Oh FAQ. Bicarbonate of soda?

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 09/09/2008 14:14

i had a similar problem with spaghetti sauce and an unidentified dairy product. you have a vax right?

go over and over and over stain for about an hour and it will come off.

flapjacks done am going to hoover and then re do kitchen.

FAQ · 09/09/2008 14:14

arghhhh why the hell didn't he just tell me there and then - I may get cross often - but I NEVER get cross if they spill something (if they tell me straight away) I just clean it up.

How would I use the bicarbonate of sofa fruitful? They're cushioned upholstered chairs (you can just see them on the photo on my profile) - only had the table less than a week, and it was given to me as well

OP posts:
SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 09/09/2008 14:16

mix bicarb and warm water rub gently with white cloth untill stain is gone. cloth must be white to prevent dye transfer.

FAQ · 09/09/2008 14:17

seashells - I have a vax - but it's just a basic one that can only do floors this one - not sure how I could use it on the chair (stain is on the top and side}

OP posts:
FAQ · 09/09/2008 14:18

thanks SSSBTS - I have some (brand new) white dish clothes - not sure if I have any bicarb in so once DS3 wakes up I'll have to pop out and get some.

OP posts:
SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 09/09/2008 14:20

ah mine has an upholestry attachment that one doesnt, sorry. bicarb should work though or just your carpet cleaning solution in water and a white cloth.

FAQ · 09/09/2008 14:22

after I bought it I wondered why I didn't just pay a little bit extra and get one with an upholstery attachment (actually probably something to with the fact I have fake leather sofas and bought the cleaner before I knew I was getting the table

Will try the cloth and bicarb or carpet cleaning stuff later (won't get any worse/harder to get off if I leave it an hour or two will it?)

OP posts:
SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 09/09/2008 14:31

ni i dont think so. fwiw i wish id just got the one you have. the one i have has a rubber tube going to the upholstery pipe that punctures every time you bash it against something.

mine is now covered with electrical tape as i got sick of re ordering new ones all the time. the electrical tape seems to be working.

travellingwilbury · 09/09/2008 16:27

I hope you have managed to sort your chairs out FAQ .

I have got my backside into gear eventually and I have
Cleaned the kitchen
Done two loads of washing
Tidied a load of toys pointlessly as they have been very quickly spread everywhere again
And I have even managed to make an apple and blackberry crumble as well

A friend has invited herself round for dinner so I thought I had better do something

FAQ · 09/09/2008 16:40

well they're better than they were - will have another go tomorrow once they've dried properly and I can see where it's still stained.

In the meantime I've completely blitzed my kitchen worktops, had everything off them, put stuff away, and cleaned them, also cleaned my sink and my window sill (which I "discovered" is actually white tiles not grey/green ). Also emptied the 2nd lot of stuff out of the dishwasher and put them away and done another load of washing.

travellingwilbury · 09/09/2008 16:42

Well done us

Just a big fat pain that it will need doing again tomorrow

FAQ · 09/09/2008 16:44

oh god I don't think mine can get as bad as it was (well the lounge/diner could as it was done properly at the weekend so was only "surface" mess, but the kitchen and the bathroom - which still has to be tackled has been somewhat longer )

OP posts:
FAQ · 09/09/2008 16:44

but I'll still be here tomorrow - haven't even thought about tackling any of upstairs yet

OP posts:
tootiredtothink · 09/09/2008 16:51
