Afternoon all

Sounds like you've all been busier than me for a change!!

I have finished my list apart from baking though which I have decided to do when lo is asleep later on. She's in an absolutely FOUL mood this afternoon & doesn't want to know anyone or do anything which is not good

& I'm going to have another virtal wander around asda for the fun of it, see if I can find anything exciting

Right, off to sort my oh and lo . . .wish me luck

laurasmiles · 05/09/2008 15:11

Hi guys - someone suggested I join this thread but I'd love to understand the theory behind it and what FLY means! Sorry for the ignorance

EustaciaVye · 05/09/2008 15:31

Hi lauarasmiles - check the babysteps link at the start of this thread and you'll get to the flylady website. It is all about creating a routine to keep on top of things.

Have painted mine and DD1s toenails Not much else but did manage to mop the floor earlier.

ludaloo · 05/09/2008 15:59

Bianca I'd personally go with baskets or something similar (but then I'm a bit of a basket fiend TBH!)
My theory is if you can see the contents, then so can anyone else visiting, so you feel the need to keep on top of the clutter. If you just shove it all in a wardrobe and lock the clutter away it gets unmanageable (you really want to see the state of my understair cupboard....no matter how often or how thoroughly it gets tidied, two minutes of having crap slung in it makes it unbearable again but no one seems to care...they just cram it all in and shut the door quick!)

Jas · 05/09/2008 16:00

Hi laurasmiles

If you can stick to the babysteps it helps you establish a routine that will last. Even if you get a cleaner (I've just checked your other thread, not read your mind!)it would help you prioritise the day to day stuff.

I'm going to just pertend I diodn't post that list earlier.
I'll hoover later, and everything else can wait.

I'm going to get a Christmas folder together this evening

OK OK who ordered the weather???

Was it the same idiot who did it last year?

I am sick of being wet. It's really grim here, You can hear it falling down the chimney

Small scale FLYing here. I covered most of the to do jobs in my morning routine. I was out most of the day so...only a bit of washing to do.

Ed does not want to go to rugby. Part of me thinks 'take him anyway' but the other part thinks 'don't force him, he'll resent it' and it has been the end of a long week for him. Plus I don't have to stand in the rain for a hour (Bad mum )

OK, down with the wash basket (and PJs for his majesty)

grouchyoscar · 05/09/2008 16:27

Training cancelled!!!

tigger32 · 05/09/2008 16:35

Have added a picture of my 1st attempt at making and decorating a birthday cake (that awful considering ds is now 5) to my profile page.

Got soaked picking ds up, although not as wet as ds2 who refused to stand under the umbrella and instead ran around the play ground jumping in puddles

Have done nothing this afternoon, so will get on now.

TheMadHouse · 05/09/2008 16:53

Hello All

GO I would have let him off, as it is first week back for him.

Tigger Cake is cool. I am yet to find the time as a SAHM to bake a cake - maybe next year

Back from the boys hair cuts well trims. DS1 insisted that Sharron did not cut off his curls and complained that it looks shorter.

DS2 was an angel and just kept singing to her . They loved the pink glitter all over his scalp - said it made a change from finding nits

Dryer on again and now glittery mats in the washer.

Need to hoover upstairs to remove yet more glitter.

I will NEVER buy glitter again. I will never poo or do anything without worrying they are doing something again. Joys of having a 3 and a 2 year old

I do love them really. Just tired and glad it is the weekend. Also skint, which doesnt help

Tigger - Is he 5 by any chance?

For some bizarre reason I felt the need to clean the tops of my kitchen cupboard doors today. eeew. Not the flat top bit as that is too gross but the frame bit and the doors. I blame Bianca for mentioning this...

BiancaCastafiore · 05/09/2008 17:45

EV, you know you feel better for doing it really though!

Love the cake Tiger

I am stuck unable to continue my clear out since the kids have been home from school so it's all on hold till I get another chance to plod on (next week prob as working this weekend and Mon) Frustrating to stop mid-flow but never mind.

kids have just got out of an early bath and are having supper in front of teh telly as a Friday night treat

tigger32 · 05/09/2008 18:01

for sale, small boy almost 2 years old, barely eats anything so cheap to run.
Cries very loudly and has fantastic tantums.

any takers??

Jas · 05/09/2008 18:02

I've just spent 1/2 hour removing chewing gum from dd1s hair, after repeatedly telling her to put it in the bin

(Peanut butter works for future reference)

Gee what a find this thread is! Eustacia, Jas and Katie thank you so much for revealing this to me. Isn't it funny how some things just come to you when you most need it. It feels like a lifeline at the moment! This may sound melodramatic but I really have hit the depths of chaos.
I love the idea of the FLY and I am just in the middle of cleaning my kitchen sink. It beats beating myself up about the mess - for sure.

Look forward to getting stuck in, but will be sure to stick to babysteps. I really do need to start from the very beginning .

ludaloo · 05/09/2008 19:14

GO I have heard that this weather (and the equally as bad weather last year) is all down to the fact that, due to climate change, the Gulf Stream has moved approx. 200 miles from where it should be....and the weather patterns are moving south. So effectively we are getting Scotlands weather.

(although I wouldn't quote me on that) still it doesn't bode well does it!

Another very subject on my mind is that on the 10th of this month some scientists in Switzerland are going to create a black hole!!!! In a 6 mile long tunnel....in an attempt to work out the "big Bang" theory!

So I wouldn't worry too much about bad weather and the state of global warming because this time next week we may all have been sucked into a man made black hole!

GAH! what is the world comming to!?

grouchyoscar · 05/09/2008 19:16

Aaaah Tigger had one meself, don't worry, They get....different. Thought about putting Ed on eBay as 'Babydan Fire guard/playpen with free occupant' but I sold the babydan first!

I ramble...sorry........where was I.....

TheMadHouse · 05/09/2008 19:31

Evening, well after shining the sink I read through the FLY reminders and wesite and this evening whilst DC's were having a bath I sorted out 3 shelves of the bathroom cupboard and have thrown away loads of clutter!
Your thread gave me the motivation to do it.
So thank you to all.

lucysmam · 05/09/2008 20:08

Hi everyone,
I can't believe what a manic day it's been for quite a few of you.
Just wanted to pop in and say hi, had a lovely holiday, apart from big spring in bed sticking in my bum/back. Not very comfy - none of us had great sleep due to rubbish beds. My bed totally rocks!!! [air guitar riff]
Off to work tomorrow, but will check in.
Missed you all!
