Hello

Just wondering where I start with all this FLY? I keep seeing the threads and really would like to bring some order to my cleaning routine. So where do I start?

Katiekins83 · 05/09/2008 12:14

afternoon all!

so far i have had such a lazy day, was going to do some painting in my kitchen but have had to cll the landlord out as it seems thst water is getting in somwhere and causing a very large ugly patch on my wall .

also am waiting for results of exams and coursework and th examaning board meet today at 2 so will try to call at 4 to see if there is any news...wish me luck! otherwise will have to wait until monday, and its killing me!

ruby dont take this as offensive, did you consider your dd could be dyslexic? everyone used to discribe me in the same way and that sentance summs it up, it was only discovered when tested at uni. i would read up on it. but then again i dont know your child!

Hi,
I've had a lovely time at toddler group and just read the whole thread...it seems nits are the topic of the day
DD1 has had them once, none of the rest of us have ever (except me when a child). Just lucky I guess.

dylsmum - Yes, same ages as yours but I have an extra dd in the middle.

TMH You've had such a terrible morning. I hope you manage to lock up everything they can do more damage with. - I'd put a bolt on the kitchen door I think.

tidgypuds - Loook on the op at the link to babysteps, and start with day one. It is slow to start with but does give lasting results.

And post on here and tell us how you are doing /request a bit of motivation as often as you like.

Got to go and sort out Mr "I've done a poo", then see if I've got more morning routine to finish.

Ok the sink is shined to within an inch of it life.

EustaciaVye · 05/09/2008 12:29

Hello All.

Ruby - thanks for advice. will add full marks to shopping list.

tidgypuds - hello - do babysteps. Really works but you have to stick at it.

I've managed to pick up everything off floor downstairs and rehome, then hoover. Need to mop floor and run around with a baby wipe to dust then it will all be presentable.

DH away again tonight so as long as I can keep girls in check should stay relatively tidy.

BiancaCastafiore · 05/09/2008 12:45

Gah! I can't believe the junk in this house I am ploughing through the utility room - (which will be properly cleared out this time) and it's a nightmare. There's soooooo much stuff in there which is mostly complete and utter junk I am working through it but it's hard work and it's all getting me down a bit
Any cheery words to keep my going?

scattyspice · 05/09/2008 12:45

Hi all.

TMH [angry} at your DCs!

Ruby I really struggle with getting the balance right between being too pushy and not doing enough. I guess you have to try and be guided by your child.

TP welcome. Babysteps are the way .

Done:
Morning routine
1st day of no TV before school
Reading and writing with DS

To Do
Laundry
Lidl
List for town tomorrow.

Shannaratiger · 05/09/2008 12:58

Afternoon

Tidgypuds welcome, well done on the sink.
I've done nothing constructive this morning.
To do:
Moonpig baby card, my friend's just had a dd, am waiting for lots of photos.
Post letters, inc. final stage of readers digest draw.
Hoover
General rearranging so we can all actualy access the stuff we need.

I'm having a permanent battle with headlice.
TMH I would go balistic! actualy I don't think my 2 would dare.

Have to go and scrub chocolate spread and peanut butter off DS, I don't know how he manages to spread it so far over his face.

TheMadHouse · 05/09/2008 12:58

Afternoon ladies

I am having a mediterian moment (thanks GO) sounds much better than hot flush. So have stopped for tea

Conservatory is done
Washer is on again
I need to hoover nad mop hard floors again
Then hoover the stairs

I think it is just a phase - he knows he has been bad, he has told my mum that he made mummy upset, but enjoyed making the mess with his little brother. I think it is because DS2 will follow his lead and do as he tell him.

I am just tired - preschool and toddlers next week will make a difference.

tigger32 · 05/09/2008 13:25

Bianca, just think how much you've already cleared and how great it look when it's finished!!

Right off to do dining room over

BiancaCastafiore · 05/09/2008 13:39

I have, for the first time in 5 years cleared out a drawer in the utility room I now have room for wrapping paper in there which tidies it up nicely Progress is becoming visable!
I have 3 boxes of stuff to clear this eve (I have no idea what's in them!)

We currently have a small (prob only 4/5ft tall) wardrobe in the utility room (It stands on top of the wm/td) for coats/hats etc, I am tempted to get rid of it in favour of open shelves with baskets for hats/gloves etc and pegs for coats to create a more open layout(no natural light in there all a bit dull)...which would you prefer?

Jas · 05/09/2008 13:49

I'd probably want to keep the wardrobe...I like to shut away the clutter, and it has to be contained to the size of the cupboard, if you (I) made it more open plan, the stuff would spread!

Well done on the clearing out. It is great when you get visibl;e results.

I like mediteranean moment

I'm sorry to keep cluyttering up the thread, but my printed list is lost, and I need paper for a new one (on shopping list for if when dp gets paid).I'll try and keep it shorter than recently though....

Morning
9 Sweep the kitchen floor
10 Swish and swipe
Afternoon
11 15 min declutter
12 mission
13 Where's the washing?
14 2 min hotspot
Friday
Clean fridge
Menu plan
Shopping list
Plus
clear floors
hoover downstairs

BiancaCastafiore · 05/09/2008 13:53

I agree mostly but am finding that the more I have containers for clutter, the more I fill them up...open plan would (in theory) force me to keep things tidy.

BiancaCastafiore · 05/09/2008 13:54

I'll talk to dh about maybe helping me give the utility room a lick of paint (it's still bare plaster in places) maybe that'd make it feel lighter.

Bewilderbeast · 05/09/2008 13:56

afternoon all

busy thread again

done
wm unloaded, reloaded and on
dw unloaded, reloaded and on
washing hung up
living room briefly tidied
ds taken to nursery

I'm sure I've done something else too but can't remember what it is

grouchyoscar · 05/09/2008 13:57

Phew, busy here, haven't had chance to catch up

So Greetings to all. Big cheers for any celebration days, Welcome to newbies and Hello again to Tort

I was sidetracked by the coffee morning, and as the school is now full, there ios no space for us so we went to Weatherspoons and had breakfast

Plus I got a Gap Shirt and M&S skirt for £2 and a 'Little Red Train' Jigsaw book for Ed's xmas stash for £1.50. Not bad TBH

I have to pop and see Ed's new school teacher today to touch base and discuss his abilities. OK He never shuts up talking and asking questions, he ivestigates everything in detail and he can't write a letter k or x

It's raining lots, should I take him to Rugby Training today

Better scarper, quack quack

Afternoon again

Mediterian Time again, but

Down stairs is finnished - yippee

I am off to collect DS1 shortly adn make a trip to the bank adn then to the hairdresser for the boys to get a trim.

She can comb all the glitter out

Deep breaths

Bianca We have metal boxes, which have storage containers in them, one for whites to wash, one for darks etc.

I find that as it is in the kitchen, open plan makes me keep it clearer.

How about this

BiancaCastafiore · 05/09/2008 14:31

and reflect the clutter Ruby?!
The wardrobe is quite nice actually. As I clear the stuff around it I am not minding it so much. It originally had lovely HUGE wheels...I would've liked to keep it in ds's bedroom but it just didn't work with the scale of his room and so it became a coat cupboard, a job it does rather well really. A mirror somewhere in the room isn't a bad idea though...

I have to go and collect a gang of kids now and bring them back to the chaos that is my half-way-through-a-clearout-hallway/utility room. Complete and utter chaos!

BiancaCastafiore · 05/09/2008 14:34

That's teh kids of thing I had in mind TMH...I wass just coming round to getting myself sorted with the wardrobe but now i see that......

BiancaCastafiore · 05/09/2008 14:34

oh fgs, excuse typos x
