I REALLY need some motivation!

First off, I have Christmas decorations etc sitting on my bedroom floor, which need putting away, preferably this side of Christmas.

well I've managed to get a load of washing done and start drying some of the other stuff about to go to the shop and get some bread

FAQ · 05/09/2008 15:49

update from this afternoon - not much happened

Got some more clothes dried and did a 3rd load of washing

and, erm.......that's it

About to try and "block off" part of the room so I can tackle my mountain of ironing though

Janni · 05/09/2008 16:42

I hate ironing! I do the absolute bare minimum, by trying to hang things straight
away, rather than put them in an ironing basket. I only iron when I really really have to.

I am trying to motivate myself to get to the post office to sort out some parcels I have to send...The dismal weather is not terrible inviting.

YAY - just spent the last 1 1/2hrs ironing, and al the clothes are now ironed AND put away. (I often tackle my ironing mountain but then don't put them away for weeks ) There's just the load I did this afternoon that's still wet that will need doing at a later point.

About to cook dinner and after that I'll do a quick tidy of the worktops in the kitchen before bathing the DS's.

Janni · 05/09/2008 18:52

Well done, FAQ!

And I made it to the post office. Very unlike me!

OP posts:
FAQ · 05/09/2008 18:54

well done

We've eaten dinner - haven't done the worktops yet - but have got the bath running for the DS's.

FAQ · 05/09/2008 20:59

woohoo - on a roll tonight - just completely blitzed the lounge part of the lounge/diner - had the furniture out and cleaned/tidied/hoovered underneath/behind it all and even got the polish out!!!

Having a break now before i start on the dining half of the room

Janni · 05/09/2008 21:14

Great work, FAQ. don't exhaust yourself - you've still got to get through the w/end with the little darlings!!

OP posts:
FAQ · 05/09/2008 21:21

oh that'll be ok - if my house is tidy then I won't be stressing about getting it done and so can veg on the sofa and watch them return it to it's former state

FAQ · 05/09/2008 22:42

ok - done the dining room, polished the table and piano and hoovered - just the kitchen and bathroom left to tackle.

However think for the bathroom I'll just hang the towels up and take the bin out, and for the kitchen take the bins out, tidy and clean the worktops and put the dishwasher on - not going to try and sort the floor tonight

FAQ · 05/09/2008 22:55

actually decided to sod the lot of it until the morning

FAQ · 06/09/2008 10:39

well had a rather late night (about 4.30 I think it was ) so have only really just woken up enough to do anything.

Today I MUST

Shower
Finish ironing
Change my sheets
Do another load of washing
Tidy the kitchen

Janni · 06/09/2008 10:42

Morning FAQ!

I had a disturbed night with DD, couldn't get back to sleep and ended up getting hooked on a DVD of Grey's Anatomy. I was also doing some mending and am off to watch some more and finish my mending!

Good luck today.

FAQ · 06/09/2008 10:44

thanks

at least my lounge/diner is lovely and clean and tidy

FAQ · 06/09/2008 10:50

now trying to decide whether to finish the ironing first or shower.

My clean jeans are still in the ironing basket so I'll need them after my shower, but as I crashed on the sofa, still fully clothed (including shoes ) I'm feeling pretty YUCK so could really do with shower first

FAQ · 06/09/2008 11:40

right - since my last post I've showered, got the boys dressed, got myself dressed and my hair dried (still need to straighten it though), and emptied the dishwasher - I also ironed the clothes that I'm now wearing - will do the rest of the ironing when DS3 goes for his nap.

cheesesarnie · 06/09/2008 11:48

ive got loads to do-
change cat litter
hoover
empty dishwasher
put washing on
put some washing away
clean bathroom
dc still in pjs
tidy front room

but i shall just sit in corner and cry whilst reading about how organised you all are.

FAQ · 06/09/2008 13:49

right we've had lunch, I've finished my ironing, am just having a break before I go and put a load of washing on, put these clothes away and change my sheets

Janni · 06/09/2008 17:43

Welcome cheesesarnie. If we were naturally organised do you think we'd need to be on this thread? No, exactly

FAQ - you really sound like you're getting it together.

I haven't done much today as I needed to catch up on sleep this afternoon.

Three jobs I'm going to try to do this evening:

  1. sort one shelf in the kitchen
  2. finish putting away holiday stuff
  3. put sewing things in a different box so DS can have my one for his lego.
OP posts:
FAQ · 06/09/2008 20:44

got my last load of washing on, put the clothes away and changed the sheets on my bed

Just got to load the dishwasher and I'm done for tonight

MrsMattie · 06/09/2008 20:48

Latecomer to the thread but desperately need motivation to sort out loads and loads of shite in my house.

Had builders in renovating the place since last October and they have just about left, so now it's our turn (DH and heavily pregnant moi) to unpack boxes and put things away into some sort of order.

I can't do anything too heavy, but have resolved tomorrow to:

  • finish tidying our bedroom (just putting a few knick knacks away, really)
  • wash bed clothes
  • sort out what goes where in our new kitchen cupboards .
  • clear the floor in DS's room ( it's a start...)

Argh. I fecking well hate anything domestic.

Janni · 06/09/2008 21:41

Hi MrsMattie. You are very welcome here!

I've so far done two of the three things on my list, as well as watching TV, drinking wine and wasting time on MN

Getting a few things done today, but mostly looking after DD and doing nit-combing on me and her [shame] Where did my life go?

Hope all on this thread are well and getting to grips with the jobs they hate

It looks like this thread has run its course.
Thankyou all - it has really helped me.

FAQ - I hope you're doing OK. Feel free to start a new thread if you need further motivation and I'll pop in!
