I REALLY need some motivation!

First off, I have Christmas decorations etc sitting on my bedroom floor, which need putting away, preferably this side of Christmas.

Would somebody please remind me to sort out my wardrobe door handles tonight so that I can make the bedroom look a little less like a tragic jumble sale?

Hello everyone by the way. I've been on about a year or so ago but stopped and since then my housework has piled up.

FAQ · 02/09/2008 20:06

taxiservice - you sorted those door handles yet

Janni · 02/09/2008 21:09

Wow! Great to see so many people here! Hospital took ages, then had a nap, then spent a long time socialising with friends whilst picking up DS2, so I'm not going to try to do anything else today. See y'all tomorrow!

I'm doing ironing at the moment while watching TV

blossomsmine · 02/09/2008 23:51

Thought i might join in Done loads and loads of washing and ironing tonight, nearly at the bottom of the washing basket!

Tomorrow, I need to put all the ironing away
Give dd2 room abit of a going over, sort the recycling, make important call to dd1's uni that i have been putting off

Will look in on you all tomorrow.

claudiaschiffer · 03/09/2008 00:41

Right, about to put on full face of make up and then tackle the filthy laundry.

Stand back everyone, I'm going in

Janni · 03/09/2008 08:49

Why the make-up before the laundry, Claudia?
Surely masks and gloves would be more appropriate??

Right two immediate jobs for me: tidy up the hallway and DD's bedroom.

omg georgiemum, that's reminded me of the state of my extractor hood!

FAQ · 03/09/2008 09:04

hey everyone.

Well I didn't finish my ironing last night - but made a good start on it.

Today I need to - put the dishwasher on
Do some more washing
Iron
Tidy in here (preferably this morning as DS2 has his school home visit at 10.45 and my new table is arriving at lunchtime)
Change my sheets
Tidy kitchen

claudiaschiffer · 03/09/2008 09:16

Janni it was about 9am at the time and I thought if i didn't get the slap on now I'd never do it. As it was I got distracted and still haven't cleaned the laundry. Darn it.

Jahan · 03/09/2008 10:17

I love these threads!
They really motivate me [saddo emoticon]

Today I need to do about 3 loads of laundry. I've got one in at the moment.

The jobs I've been avoiding that have to be done are

Clear out ds's wardrobe of clothes too small
Clear out toy boxes and get rid of toys that aren't played with
Clean Kitchen cupboards.

Janni · 03/09/2008 10:24

Well, we're all saddos together then, Jahan

Come on Claudia - get on with it!

Janni, I would love to clean out the cupboards, but it's now 7.30pm here and i've had a couple of wines. So now I just don't care .

Will cheer on you and FAQ tho.

Go on girls - you can do it

Janni · 03/09/2008 11:57

Claudia. Where are you, BTW?

It's DS1's last day of the school holidays today so we're going to go and see a film as a treat.

Before we go I want to: have a quick tidy up of the study and the bathroom.

Back this evening. Happy horrible chores everyone.

claudiaschiffer · 03/09/2008 13:15

Hi Janni, I am in Australia so on a totally different time zone to you.

enjoy the film, how nice to be spending ds's last day together doing fun things.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 03/09/2008 13:35

I'll join in, I need to be motivated and stop being a nosy neighbour/ staring at the computer screen/ staring at the trees across the road. haha.

I need to clean the oven, I only do this once every 6 months as I have a fab method for keeping on top of it, but it's a bit scummy atm.

Sort through toys and put the old ones on freecycle.

Ditto clothes.

Sort through my clothes/shoes/bags etc ready for a jumble sale in a pub in a couple of weeks (they are fab)

Clean the windows. I hate this as they are sash ones and I can never fully reach them.

Do an online shop.

GypsyMoth · 03/09/2008 14:43

hi all....busy little bee's!
i need to: put laundry away
prepare chicken salad for tea
collect ds2 from school
then today's done. however, jobs i could've done today instead of messing around on MN and facebook were:
clean oven!!! and i so hate that job
find the lost piece of ben 10 toy which has gone down side of ds2's bed.
plant bulbs
sort out huge pile of dvd'd into cases left out by ds1
shopping list
hoover upstairs
cobwebs...remove as its not halloween just yet!

Jahan · 03/09/2008 16:03

Have done all the laundry but haven't got around to the other jobs yet. I think I need dh to take the kids off for a few hrs to get those jobs done (they're too young for school)

I've sorted out dinner thanks to slow cooker and have just got some general tidying of lounge and kitchen to do then hoovering.

blossomsmine · 03/09/2008 16:17

You all seem to have been very busy...........not me though I went to work, then had a quick whizz round to make it look abit more presentable, then all i did on my list was phone dd's uni, but that is something i have been putting off so quite pleased i have actually done it!

Janni · 03/09/2008 19:51

Saw 'Somerstown' with DS1. It was a 12A and he is 12, but it was a bit embarrassing to be watching certain things with him! I have to show I'm cool and unshockable though so he'll confide in me as he gets older
Thought we'd fit in a haircut for him but, to my shame, the hairdresser found nits, and lots of them...so that's this evening taken care of!

Have a nice evening all. See you tomorrow x

Well I have to confess nothing happened on the housework front yesterday - I managed to put the (already loaded) dishwasher on and that was it.

Today WILL be better though
have got to

Go to town to pay a couple of bills
Do some washing (and try to get it dried)
Do some ironing
Hoover
Put the rest of the shopping away that was delivered on Monday
Take DS2 and 3 to toddler group
Clean the bathroom

Janni · 04/09/2008 11:27

Good luck today, FAQ. It is very hard getting things done with little ones around! My older two are heading back to school and the three year old is doing half days at nursery, so I have a bit more time now.

The jobs which I really must do today are:

1)Clean DS1's trainers so he has them for sport tomorrow - they are caked in mud. I know he should do them himself, but I won't be able to stand the mess.

  1. Call nursing college about course I wnat to do next September and download application form

  2. Clean out our poor, neglected goldfish

OP posts:
FAQ · 04/09/2008 12:08

well I've got the dishwasher on, 2nd load of washing is on, it's cold here today - so I've got the heating on - which is doubling up it's duties keeping me warm and drying my clothes

Also been to town and paid my bills

Just about to get DS2 and 3 lunch (and myself) then jump in the shower before toddlers
