Welcome to the latest in the long running Fledgling Flylady threads, for those new to the system, Flylady is a US based website / app system based on a monthly rotation around the rooms of the house. It’s well established, these threads have been going for many many years, but all are welcome, we love having new Fledglings on board.

Well, May ended with a heatwave for many of us, I know my housework took a bit of a dip last week. But back to normal now as we head into June. A big thank you to Hazel for leading us through May Flowers

A few pointers: Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - I took one for the team and signed up when the website was down last year, you get about 4 a day - you have been warned! 😂

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines. Try not to do too much at once, you don't want to get overwhelmed.

There are 5 zones that we will rotate through each month, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission. I will explain these further as we come across them.
Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
Tuesday: plan & play
Wednesday: anti-procrastination
Thursday: errand day
Friday: clean car & purse (handbag) out. It's also date night (with your significant other, or friends, or yourself!)
Saturday: family fun day - no missions
Sunday: renew your spirit - no missions

Common acronyms we use:
LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
LMS: lose/lost my shit
DNLMS: did not lose my shit
There are more, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notifications (although I only have it for when the zones change). You can also modify the tick lists to suit your home & lifestyle.
Links are below 👇 if I happen to not add links in time, they do update at midnight for you.

Daily missions: for the zone we are in.https://www.flylady.net/daily-mission

Baby steps: it's not technically flylady, but they're still working on the new site. https://mymerrymessylife.com/flylady-31-baby-steps/

Sorry <parks self in naughty corner and switches fan on>. I was out of the house from 6 till 8 today. Then as soon as I got back I fell asleep in the garden. Back later.

Afternoon, sorry, it has all gone to pot a bit here. If you haven’t melted, our missions were to clear the right side of the bed and then the foot of the bed. It’s too hot upstairs to do this right now but I will try at bedtime I think. I have change our bed today at least.

Tada!
4th load of washing on and waiting to go out (clothes, bedlinen and 2xtowels)
Item sold on Vinted packaged
Various admin jobs done
DW emptied
Some handwashing up done
Counters wiped.
Met friend for coffee in cafe with aircon

It’s not QUITE as hot here today but still far too hot for my liking, but at least there is a bit of breeze.

Well done for keeping things going despite the heat @ElegantlyDecluttering

This week has been largely a write off for all sorts of reasons, but the next thing on my list was "under the bed" so I will try and catch up with that next week.

We have just had a power cut after a mega thunderstorm, so best go and sort that now.

Well, here we are, finally in Zone 5 - The Living Room. We will only have a couple of days here because tomorrow is the end of the month.

Today,'s mission is detailed vacuuming, right up to the edges, under furniture etc. That's a tricky one for us as we have a huge recliner sofa that is up against a a wall and weighs a ton, so DH pulls it out every few months for this reason, but I can't do it by myself.

There are a few more babysteps we have missed in the last few days, I'm not going to link them all separately but they can be found here at the bottom of the page https://mymerrymessylife.com/flylady-31-baby-steps/30/

23 - after work routine, this is a key part of the system, putting things away etc

24 - swish and swipe - this is a quick once over which you give the bathroom every day, should take no more than a minute or so and makes a big difference

26 - you are not behind, well, I always seem to be, but that is the beauty of the system, it all just comes round again next month

27 - what's for dinner - add to your evening routine planning for the next night's dinner

30 - calendar, look at next month, do you need birthday cards, other events coming up that need eg transport sorting

ps, as we are nearly at the end of the month, would anyone else like to post the links in July?

Right, here we are, the last day of the month. Tuesday is Plan and Play day, I usually do my planning on Fridays but it eluded me last week so I do need to make some time for a diary catch-up. The house all went to pot last week with the heat but we have got things back on track now, DH has done a fair bit (he goes in spells of it then slacks off!).

Our final mission in Zone 5 is to clear the hotspots in the living room. Those spots where people dump coins, receipts, keys, sweet wrappers <sighs>

Well I've been AWOL for a while!

I've been camping, working, gardening and haven't been on mn at all for a while!
I'm sorry I've not got any replies for anybody, but I did want to volunteer to run the July thread as it seems there isn't a new one yet.
I'll go create that thread and I'll be back..
Hopefully that'll motivate me to be on here more often and actually get my house in order as it's a disaster right now!

BloomingHazel · 01/07/2026 19:45

Thank you ED for running the June thread, I'm sorry I missed half of it!
