Setting up to start tomorrow. I wanted to make the title That's Not Flying, It's Falling With Style, as an acknowledgement to the number of times I have fallen off the flylady wagon. But I wasn't brave enough.
"Flybabies" old and new all welcome!

@bigyellowdusterso happy flylady is working for you !

@BloomingHazelsorry the appointment didn’t go well yesterday, information is power but it’s still not nice to hear sometimes . Are you thinking of changing contraception? I could do with upping the health side of things too, I did a really easy challenge last year but didn’t stick to it 😩

@ExcellentDaydreamI totally agree regarding the bigger companies and the billionaires!

Thanks @WinterFrogsI’m a lot steadier now 🙂 I’m the same with perfection and trying to get the mindset of good enough is good enough is challenging!

@CherryogDogI’m jealous of your shower screen !

Searchingforsparkle · 25/03/2026 19:49

CherryogDog · 25/03/2026 22:03

I didn't post my ToDos in case I jinxed it, but got scuppered by the worst migraine I've had in ages.
But before it got too bad I managed to wipe down the bannisters, vacuum the upstairs landing and stairs. DP finished the downstairs. One LOL.
Then I sprawled on the sofa with a blanket over my head until I felt well enough to do a good impression of the Very Hungry Caterpillar.
I did mildly LMS at the amount of crap that just randomly appears out of nowhere that doesn't seem to have a home.

BloomingHazel · 25/03/2026 22:27

Searching you are right, information is power and things can only get better!
I signed up for a weightloss program offered free through work and logged my meals so far today in mfp. I use need to change my mindset: no, I do not want chocolate! Yes, I do want veggies and protein!
Great ta da list! And of course the washing of the hair counts, it takes longer!

Cherry I hope your migraine has gone, they are no fun. I don't blame you for LYS, that's one of the things that frustrates me too, and it seems to always fall to me to find homes for things that are just dumped 🙄

WinterFrogs · 26/03/2026 07:33

Morning all! @bigyellowduster I am so pleased that Flylady is working for you 💕 Honestly she saved me!

@BloomingHazel sorry about the health scare. As @Searchingforsparkle said, knowledge is power.

I am trying very hard not to snack. I've broken the crisps and sweets habit but still mainline cheese and fruit and nuts. So mainly uhp free but in no way a calorie deficit.

Sorry about the migraines @CherryogDog I used to get them but not since menopause which is one upside. I used to eat like it was going out of fashion afterwards too. I hope you are better today 💐

And here is today's mission

OP posts:
CherryogDog · 26/03/2026 08:08

@WinterFrogs and @BloomingHazel thanks. I didn't sleep well and feel a bit groggy.
I don't snack unless there's chocolate in the house and then I'm like a crack addict. When my weight started ballooning before Christmas I cut it all out, cold turkey. I've lost about 2lbs. Feel a bit hard done by, the amount I was eating it should be much more.
Blood test this morning to see if there's an underlying cause.
Then hopefully some flying.

WinterFrogs · 27/03/2026 07:14

I hear you on the chocolate @CherryogDog. I am the same. It was so hard to give it up but it feels easier now. You've lost 2lb and not ballooned any more so that's a win. I hope your blood test results are helpful.

I got washing out on the line yesterday which pleased me. And I have ticked off dusting bed changing and vacuuming off the weekly blah on the app.

Sink did not get shined last night because I washed up and left it to drain. I have absolutely no excuse for that and it's definitely nicer to come down to a clean kitchen. DH always dries up and puts away when he does it.

Bedroom is looking good thanks to the missions. Today's is to clean the windows. And the en suite bathroom windows if you have them. I don't so it will take only a few minutes. Windows cleaner does the outsides thankfully. It's just possible to do them from the inside as the windows do a sort of reverse, but my arms aren't quite long enough to be thorough without risking falling out.

Years ago me and ex had stuff on the window sills and every other flat surface. When ex left, a great deal of stuff left with him and I binned the rest. Current Mr Frogs is not worried about stuff which is one of the reasons I married him. He's vaguely untidy (matches my levels) but the lack of stuff means that it doesn't spread far. But it does mean that the windows are easier to get at than they once were. I'm not suggesting the part exchanging of husbands purely for that reason but it certainly helped.

Flylady has an excellent essay up on making life easier for yourself when hosting so I will drop the link for that. And highly recommend that any lurkers who aren't yet familiar with Flylady take a look at her site

I hope this takes you to the essay
https://www.flylady.net/ask-flylady

Looks like it links to all the essays but they are all quite useful ( I am hardened to the twee delivery after many years and there are good nuggets of information- but do brace yourself if you are new to it)

Cherry good luck with your blood test. Will you have to wait long for the results?

Thank you WinterFrogs for the links. I find I skim read at first, then go back to read the main points. I've read a lot of them over the years, so sometimes it's just refreshing my memory which is terrible

After work today I cleared a hotspot (the biggest one in the house). I also rotated DW after dinner. Countertops have been wiped down, along with the sink.

I'm thinking I'm going to have an early night tonight, I'm so tired! I'm also very glad it's the weekend 🥳

CherryogDog · 28/03/2026 07:35

@BloomingHazel got my thyroid results yesterday, I'm borderline hypo, retest in 6 months. Not had the cortisol results yet.
I've no TaDas to report.

I do the same with skimming @BloomingHazel as I've read them all many times over the years too. And yet if I don't look at the stuff everything turns to chaos around here very quickly.

A reminder to all today to get up and dressed, clean teeth and fix face (I wash mine and use spf 30 moisturiser and that is all)Swish and swipe, eat breakfast, drink water
Bung a load of laundry in and sort out the washing up.

Then have some fun today because it is Saturday and there are no missions. But you don't get out of the daily routines or your house will become overtaken by laundry and clutter all around the kitchen and nobody needs to face that on a Monday morning!

I'm 🤣 but actually she's right. Don't put it down, put it away is also very helpful 👌

I've ticked off all the morning tasks including the one that says if it is Monday or Thursday I must change my hrt patch.

#proud!

I hope you all have a fun filled Saturday 💐

Cherry 💐 for you.

WinterFrogs I'm trying to put things away instead of down, it doesn't always happen, but I'm better than I was. Now I have to get DH & DS on board 😂 I doubt that'll happen!
Great ta da list there, and only an hour?!

On Saturday nights we spend time with ILs. We take turns cooking (not including SIL & BIL, but that's a whole other thread). MIL & FIL have been sick. MILs the worst out of them (she never gets sick). They actually went to urgent care today, per her request, she never goes to the doctor, never! So they aren't coming tonight. Hopefully we'll find out what she has soon, and can get feeling better. She got sick last Sunday.

I want to get done general tidying done and a version of home bleugh this weekend. I do need to work on laundry also. Hopefully I'll be back later with some ta das

WinterFrogs · 28/03/2026 15:47

I astonished myself too with my hour @BloomingHazel I'm hoping it's because I have a lot less clutter. Very sorry to hear about your family's sickness. Best wishes to them for a speedy recovery 💐

This link just popped up on my phone. I think it explains why the flylady system for some of us 😊

WinterFrogs that was an interesting read, and explains why is easier for some people to be tidy, but not everyone.
I don't like that you have to pay for the app (I would try it if there was a free trial), but I also didn't like that it was all a sales pitch 😞

WinterFrogs · 28/03/2026 16:04

Hi @BloomingHazel Sorry I was just thinking how the article explained different thought patterns and i shared because the daily missions seemed similar. I was so enthralled that I didn't notice that it was advertising an app, but you're right 😳

It's a beautiful day here! So warm and sunny!

Ta das so far:
🌞 LOLs x4 (and still more to do)
🌞 general tidy in the kitchen - a couple of things to put away
🌞 airing out the house
🌞 S&S both bathrooms
🌞 meal planning sorted out
🌞 grocery list written out
🌞 emptied bins
🌞 put Easter/ spring decorations out

I still need to go grocery shopping, then work on getting dinner ready. It's just gone 2:30pm so I still have plenty of time, without having to rush.

Scourgify · 28/03/2026 22:30

Keeping my head above water with the basics. Tortured myself by binge-watching several series of Grand Designs over the past week. TeenGirl is off school with a chest infection and TeenBoy is perpetually grumpy atm and has new braces which he can barely speak around.

So much life and house admin! I’m trying to complete one task each day and file everything as soon as I get it. I feel as though it’s all a pack of cards that will collapse if I look at it wrong.

Clocks forward tonight and only four more days of school till the holidays.

WinterFrogs · 29/03/2026 07:46

Well done @BloomingHazel 👏
@Scourgify solidarity to you 💕 My children are grown ups now but I remember the teen years so well. Sympathies to both your teens and hope they both feel better soon ( I remember having braces 45 years ago and the embarrassment when I had to talk in lessons for the first few days)
