Setting up to start tomorrow. I wanted to make the title That's Not Flying, It's Falling With Style, as an acknowledgement to the number of times I have fallen off the flylady wagon. But I wasn't brave enough.
"Flybabies" old and new all welcome!

Sounds like a lovely way to spend your birthday @BloomingHazel!

Yesterdays tada:
✅ downloaded the app
✅ morning routine
✅ school run and job number 1
✅ hoover off the weekly tasks (splitting the tasks down to tick one off when I have the time is working better this week)
✅ clothes out for today
✅ parents evening for ds
✅ job number 2

next week I really want to work on the afternoon and evening routines, every evening is different with kids clubs and working so if’s difficult to establish. My youngest is nearly 10 now though so I’m choosing not to worry too much about it and go with the flow because I won’t be in the chaos of driving the kids about for many more years. DS is 15 next week and he’s thinking of dropping one of his football teams in September to get a weekend job which is a little sad that this stage of our lives is starting to come to an end . I was absolutely devastated when dd1 decided to give up dancing and got herself a little job ! Hopefully I’m giving them the childhood that they still want to come home even once they’ve moved on ❤️❤️

This turned into an emotional post for 6am in the morning 😂 I’m off to drink my morning coffee now haha , have a wonderful day everyone 💐

Bloody hell

I fell off

Life is so fast at the min! Anyone else finding this?

Please hold me accountable for the weekend

My blood test has been postponed because GP didn't tell me it needs to be an early morning test.
But I'm kicking myself for not clarifying, I used to be a phlebomist, and later worked in a lab so I should have known.
I've been having some weird head and eye zaps this week, but I'm putting it down to lack of sleep.
No flying from me, but I have bought a new battery and filter set for my Dyson so watch this space!

With great apologies once again, here is some flylady inspiration for the day. No mission today as its Saturday - Family Fun Day. I've had about as much fun I can take this week so I am lounging about on the sofa doing some MNing!

Searching we are finding that we need to do some shifting here too with chores. DH brought it up yesterday and suggested that maybe we should all 3 work on the housework on Saturdays, instead of DS having to do the bulk on a Friday when he has no school. DS is now working a lot, on top of school (35 hours this week!), so it's a lot to expect him to do.
We are going to try that today.
I have written out a list of things that need to be done, so we can pick and choose what we do.

THAT yes! Life is zooming by so fast! What are you planning to accomplish this weekend?

Cherry my left eye was twitching so much at the beginning of the week, but I put that down to not enough sleep. It's gone away now I've been able to have a couple nights of more sleep. Hopefully that's the same for you. Sorry to hear about your blood test, we all have those days/moments!

Jumping ditto on your to do list. I also have food plan written as something we all need to do together.

I'm still enjoying the peace & quiet with my coffee before I start on anything!

WinterFrogs · 21/03/2026 14:13

Happy belated birthday @BloomingHazel 🎂

I've got chaos again, and I have lost things. No excuse really, but I'm using today to rest a bit and then jump back in. Most of the daily habits have stuck though.

WinterFrogs I understand completely! When I first joined the Flylady threads they moved along so much there were months that the 1st thread got full so a 2nd had to be created! I don't think I could have kept up as thread leader back in those days!

BloomingHazel · 21/03/2026 14:16

WinterFrogs daily habits help so much, it won't take long to bring it back from chaos!

JumpingPumpkin · 21/03/2026 15:14

I really wish I could do daily habits. I can manage a few days at most.

Alwaysgrowing · 21/03/2026 20:20

I've definitely let the routines and everything slip, got a bit into a mobile phone game....and been out he house a lot.

But with the lovely sunshine I've done laundry and dried it it the sunshine. But only clothes, not bedding and towels...I'm working this evening.

Tomorrow I could get a couple of little bits done, have the kids.

@Searchingforsparkle my DD 7 started judo, we haven't got big on the clubs. DH seeing calm family home time as important but I'd like kids to do some clubs. It's hard to know what balence is good. Neither one is right or wrong. I feel like DH and I are introverted and both our kids are extroverted. DD got straight into making friends when starting judo with no-one she knows and DS (3) just loves a crowd.

ExcellentDaydream · 21/03/2026 22:12

My DCs did quite a lot of clubs, they did enjoy them all but we only managed to keep it all up with the help of lift shares and definitely neglected our own exercise etc in those days. Both DCs have kept one of their childhood sports clubs going into adulthood and they have really helped their social lives, in fact both have found part time jobs through fellow club members, so I am pretty in favour overall.

Our routines have slipped a bit this week too, despite my Finch chirping away at me. I have kept up my self care habits but the home things slipped. I did pull it back a bit yesterday though (my day off) with beds changed and bedding plus clothes line dried, kitchen and bathroom floors swept and mopped.

@WinterFrogs you’re doing fine with the thread, it is hard work and all the changes on the Flylady website / app really haven’t helped.

WinterFrogs · 22/03/2026 11:45

@JumpingPumpkin quite like the way flylady builds the routines up up slowly. Do you look at the babystep links? But I do know how easy it is to drop them when life gets stressful, even though I find that they are a good cure for overwhelm. I think we don't always want to do what is good for us.

I am good at checking laundry and swish and swipe daily. What's for dinner has gone by the wayside a bit and menu planning is the monthly habit that I really need to work on. I do think it's true that the shiny sink makes a massive difference so I am going to do it right now.

Thanks @BloomingHazel I'm doing my best. Thanks for the vote of confidence 💐

I downloaded Finch yesterday then had a look and immediately uninstalled. Found it quite irritating. I like the health app that I have, which is called Reverse Health. It fits in nicely with the flylady app, for me.

Re kids, mine were never that keen on clubs. None of us are sporty as such, but we are active and as adults they are all into hiking and climbing. And one is very keen on their garden. They all cook well too so I didn't do too badly. They certainly seem to be better at a lot of things than their mother now 🤦‍♀️ I still feel like I'm learning! I am ok as long as I keep things simple. Otherwise I get very overwhelmed.

Today is Sunday so it's Renew Your Spirit day, in whatever way does it for you. I am not a church goer but I enjoy a nice walk, and I usually go and see my mother who is in a local nursing home. They have a lovely garden there and finally it's getting warm enough to take her outside in her wheelchair.

I hope you all have a renewing kind of day but I expect that the parents amongst us will be busy ferrying children about. So just a reminder to take some time out for yourself, if you possibly can 💕

It's the sheer effort of remembering that I am trying to do routines that I find so hard. I managed it well for about 6 weeks when living alone but it took up all my thoughts which obviously isn't the aim.

BloomingHazel · 22/03/2026 16:45

Jumping one of the baby steps is to write each step on sticky notes and put them up somewhere you'll see them. Then add the routines to the control journal. Would either of those help you until they become habit?

BloomingHazel · 22/03/2026 16:46

Well, family chores didn't happen yesterday. Hopefully they will today. We were going to go see DD today, but she ended up having to work.
