Setting up to start tomorrow. I wanted to make the title That's Not Flying, It's Falling With Style, as an acknowledgement to the number of times I have fallen off the flylady wagon. But I wasn't brave enough.
"Flybabies" old and new all welcome!

This week has been a mixed bag success wise. I have mainly stuck to the daily tasks.
I gave swept and mopped kitchen so I could put my new indoor door mat down. Which looks good and is encouraging most of us to remove shoes straight away unless doing in and out jobs.
My youngest son seems to have noticed our efforts as he used kitchen spray and a tea towel to clean the table after he ate.
I haven't done any other home bleugghh or bedroom work. And then I have been ill.
Luckily before I got ill I went off task and did the entire porch. It's one of those rooms which was never quite finished so we treat it badly. Had to completely empty out, hoover the cobwebs and dirt, steam clean, clean windows and doors etc. Cleaned shoe rack in the shower and we need to buy a second shoe rack to fit everything.

So I now need to reclaim shower floor as dirty from the shoe rack.
So this was my second time in bedroom since I restarted flylady and second time not really doing it.
Hopefully manage some jobs today but we are out this afternoon and have a food shop delivery that will need putting away this morning so will see what we manage

Ta das:

Cleaned all upstairs insides of windows ✔️
Shredded some papers ✔️
LoL dried and put away ✔️
Shiny sink ✔️
Dusted and de-cobwebbed ✔️
Showered and then wiped down bath and all tiles in bathroom ✔️
Ordered repeat prescription
Threw away some general cluttery grot and rearranged bedroom shelves ✔️
Put a potted plant in bedroom ✔️
Wiped all windowsills ✔️
Brushed the stairs with rubber brush and vacuumed whole house ✔️
Dinner planned: leftovers ✔️

Took about an hour!

Now sitting on my bed with a book 😊

Very impressive to manage this in an hour.

This was yesterday's musing and I think it is very relevant to yesterday's conversations 💕

This is definitely a useful read for me.

Very impressive to manage this in an hour.

I was quite proud of myself but also I did it in fits and starts and I guessed an hour 😳 Probably not including the shower, thinking about it. I've been 'flying' a loooong time so honestly now these things don't take long as I don't have much clutter ( and I have a small house)

Planning dinner took no more than a quick thought as it was already in the fridge so I added it to ta das to make it look good lmao 😆

Wiping bare windowsills takes minutes.... and I have the NHS app for ordering prescriptions so it literally took as long as it takes to open the app and tick a couple of boxes.

So I was just showing off really ( but actually quite proud of myself that I've got to this point, and I am so grateful to flylady for that)

I am very pleased that you found that link useful 💕

Also @Positivepositron it's astonishing how the rest of the family do notice the efforts you make. Well done to your son. I think they notice it more if you were never 'born organised'. It's so helpful to them to see you learning how to manage your home.

TaDas!
Stripped my bed, washed bedding, it's on the line drying and I'm praying it doesn't blow away in the high winds!
Put my huge pile of clean laundry away.
Started another charity bag.
Listed all my too small riding breeches on Ebay.
LOL on.
LMS at next door's builders, 2nd week of starting work at 8.30, with the clocks changing I was fast asleep and they woke me up crashing about.
They had a huge radio on top of my wall, blaring out rave music, which I could hear right through my house.
I gritted my teeth until 11.30 and stormed round to complain. They turned it down.
Now having a cuppa before dog walk.

Scourgify · 29/03/2026 15:10

Now that it’s officially British Summer Time we have horizontal rain and bins blowing around.

Completed another part of the never-ending paperwork by driving to the atm and swiping my card. I now know exactly what I have, and what the next step is for tomorrow. Tonight I’ll look at all the direct debits and standing orders.

Blitzed one part of the kitchen. Bought some paper plates and a couple of ready meals to try to not get overwhelmed. Two LoLs of school uniforms.

Positive it sounds like you're making progress, and getting the family to follow suit is a big achievement! Re the bedroom: is there a reason why you keep avoiding it? Is it overwhelming?

WinterFrogs I list some of my ta das that are just part of my normal day now, but I've noticed that if I don't include them, I feel like I didn't do anything, which can make doing anything seem overwhelming.

Cherry why some people can't be considerate of others baffles me! I'm sorry the builders woke you, they definitely deserved to be yelled at. Maybe they'll be more considerate from now on.

Last night I ordered a blood pressure monitor, it's supposed to show up today. Hopefully my blood pressure isn't high and that it was their machine! Or at least that cutting out chocolate reduced mine 🤞it's scary considering I do feel that I'm a healthy eater, but sometimes make poor decisions (mainly when it comes to chocolate and alcohol). We'll see..

I'm just sitting in a quiet house currently, dogs sleeping on the couch with me after waking me up to let them out this morning at 7:20am. Assholes. But for me that's still sleeping in, when I'm having to wake up at 5:30am for work. Our clocks changed about 3 weeks ago, so I've already adjusted.

It's supposed to be another sunny and warm day today, but snow and cold is forecast for this week 🤬

Not sure why I'm not moving on the bedroom. It might just be that none of the missions were relevant and they are a pretty good kick-start for me. They were nearly all clearing surfaces and I dont keep anything on any surface in the bedroom. Don't have loads of make up to sort through and they aren't in bedroom anyway etc.
The porch on the other hand really needed doing so seemed better use of my time.

Searchingforsparkle · 29/03/2026 19:37

Dropped off here for a couple of days , DS birthday and residential so I was busy sorting that. First day off work today and I have done nothing but look after myself . Well I did do perhaps half an hour of tidying this morning but I had no energy so I took it as a sign to rest whilst I had the opportunity so my achievement list is self care
tada
🎉 quite a while on my cross stitch
🎉 DH took Dd2 out so watched Bridgerton (just the final episode to watch, love this series)
🎉 enjoyed a lush bath bomb bath whilst listening to my audio book (finished serial killers wife and onto serial killers daughter - really good book to listen to)
🎉 shaved , hair washed , face mask , favourite moisturiser
🎉 dried hair and put on favourite pjs , even put my favourite perfume on my pjs 😂
🎉 enjoyed a Sunday roast dinner cooked by DH
🎉 played various games with dd2 that didn’t involve me moving from the sofa

tonight’s plan is to watch a film with DH and try and get some sleep. I already feel so much better for resting rather than pushing myself to get things done. I have really had to battle the mind of negative self talk about being lazy and tried to reframe it to being self care is productive in a different way. I think the rest of the week will benefit from today’s rest 🙂

BloomingHazel · 29/03/2026 19:45

Positive that makes sense! I don't have things that need to be cleared off surfaces in the bedroom either, so instead I focus on deeper cleaning in there: ie, washing the mattress protectors, vacuuming around the edges, dusting etc. But to focus on the porch as a better use of your time makes sense, tackle the worst bits to make a big impact.

Searching self care really is so important! I've actually been doing the same today. Took a nice shower, spent time moisturizing, etc. Currently being a slob on the couch, browsing mn!

WinterFrogs · 30/03/2026 15:03

Lovely to read about self care. Flylady used to have a pamper mission each week but doesn't seem to be putting those out any more. It's quite fun to share them on here though 😊

Just dropping today's mission. We're in the lounge today and tomorrow thwn i thinkit will change on Wednesday as it's a new month.

I am quite pleased with myself as we managed to use up most of what was in the fridge last week so I gave it a thorough clean while DH went to Tesco yesterday.

Today I took a leaf out of @Positivepositron's book and attacked our porch area ( tiny hall way in fact) Gave it a thorough de-cobwebbing and washed down the walls and hoovered it. Fifteen minutes max I think. And I've changed the bedding. Not in the hall. In the bedroom, obviously.

Self care: I have become religious about my spf 30 facial moisturiser each morning and the 20 min exercise routine has become non-negotiable too. The health app I use is reminding me about drinking water so I have improved on that. Currently drinking a coffee though.

Oh I did a belated dusting/rubber brush/ vacuum behind my bedside cabinet too. Amazing what grot had accumulated. It's been a while and there were what I think are known as dust bunnies.

It's all starting to look quite shipshape 😁

Sympathy about yesterday's builders @CherryogDog

Best wishes to you all!

We had what seemed like a tornado here last night! Took a tree and a lamp-post down, right by my field gate. So late night settling the horses and making sure all the fencing was OK.
Another migraine today, so no flying for me.

Here is the link again to the Flylady site for anyone who's just found us. I really appreciate her baby steps and there's a link on there to today's morning musing about that.

We'll I've just completed my first month of starting the thread. Apologies for the rocky start and the MH related disappearance in the middle. I agree with @BloomingHazel that running the thread has a positive impact on the home though. Mine is looking better than it has in a while.
So who would like to do April's thread?

I could take on April's thread. Will hopefully keep my momentum going.
I will post a link shortly.

Positivepositron · 31/03/2026 09:19

Oh and thanks for running the March thread @WinterFrogs it really has been a huge help to me.

Yesterday I went off piste again and me and DH cleared out a cabinet in the dining side of the kitchen/ diner. So I feel I'm a bit ahead on zone 1 starting tomorrow having done a decent dent on porch and dining area. So might keep going with them or swap to living room for end of week. Will see.

Today's mission of hoovering sofas etc seems nice and manageable so may do that.

Searchingforsparkle · 31/03/2026 10:04

Thanks for this months thread @WinterFrogs💐

@CherryogDogI hope your migraine is better and your horses are more settled .

@Positivepositronthanjs for offering to run Aprils thread 💐

tada
🥳 an hour on cross stitch (I have a project I really want to get finished before the end of the Easter holidays)
🥳 30 mins decluttering in the living room , dump it surface cleaned , I have a kallax box that I put charity shop things in throughout the month, this has been bagged up for charity or to give to friends. Craft trolly at the side of my sofa has been emptied, cleaned and things put back in (more tidying/cleaning than decluttering because it has my current WIPs in)

Dd2 is still in bed, I think I’m going to jump in the shower before carrying on with the house . We have a busy afternoon then work this evening 🙂

BloomingHazel · 31/03/2026 14:53

Thank you so much for running the March thread WinterFrogs.

And thank you to Positive for volunteering to run the April thread.

Cherry I hope you're feeling better and your horses have settled 💐

Searching what is the cross-stitch project you're working on?

It's Tuesday, so my day off. I have a few things planned to do today, but I'm currently taking a few minutes to sit on the couch this morning, before I get started.
I have my hair appt today also, I'm excited to get it a little shorter for the warmer weather (it's already short).

Searchingforsparkle · 31/03/2026 22:40

Hope you enjoyed the hairdressers @BloomingHazel, my cross stitch is a planet one from caterpillar cross stitch I’ve attached a photo . I love the colours in this one , I’m over half way through 🙂

tada
🥳 showered and hair washed
🥳 morning routine
🥳 washing gathered
🥳 cooked something from the freezer for everyone’s lunch
🥳 dd2 to the opticians for contact lens check , eye health check and eye test
🥳 dd2 chose glasses ! This usually take days of visiting different places but found them in the second shop !
🥳 dd2 dropped at gymnastics
🥳 work
🥳 pick dd2 up from gymnastics
🥳 finally had something to eat !

Currently sat with a G&T watching celebrity bake off , I don’t usually drink on a week night , however it’s the school holidays, DH is away for work so a small one won’t hurt and may help me get over to sleep 🙂

That's very pretty Searching I really love the colours 😍
I enjoyed my visit to the hairdressers, I'm very happy with my end result, but I usually am. I love my hairdresser, I don't know what I'll do when she retires! The whole family goes to her (including all the ILs)!

I've lost my motivation for the day! It's gloomy, rainy and cold! I just want to curl up under the blankets on the couch and do nothing. But I can't. I need to start working on dinner, bathe the dogs, work on laundry (put the clean stuff away).

I do have some ta das though:
🍋 LOLs x5
🍋 hairdressers
🍋 rotated DW & got it started
🍋 truffles centers made. New flavour: lemon & white chocolate. Tastes good so far from what I've tried, but they aren't finished yet.

Yep.. still not motivated to keep going. Aaah!
