Setting up to start tomorrow. I wanted to make the title That's Not Flying, It's Falling With Style, as an acknowledgement to the number of times I have fallen off the flylady wagon. But I wasn't brave enough.
"Flybabies" old and new all welcome!

Ta da

🥳 school run and work
🥳 dc to the dentist
🥳 shops to pick up tea and a few bits to see us through the week
🥳 dinner made ( a junk food hot dog and chips , kind of made it healthy with a salad haha)

I am staring to feel the 5am get up now , I’m having a quiet 10 minutes then up and carry on . Planning on cleaning the dinner pots , ironing for tomorrow, general tidy and hopefully some of the home blurgh !

Searchingforsparkle · 09/03/2026 17:48

Thanks @CherryogDog, sorry you had a rubbish day yesterday, I hope today has been better ?

Thanks for the link @WinterFrogs

CherryogDog · 09/03/2026 23:19

DP (he's someone who never verbally apologises) let my lie in while he did the horses.
I did a workout, tidied the front room, washed the throws and put more bits and bobs in the charity box.
Had a nice dog walk, binged a tv series (Girl Taken, was really good).
I'm busy tomorrow so won't be flying.

Alwaysgrowing · 10/03/2026 06:11

Sounds great. I have an internal job interview today....from a band 6 to 7 in the NHS....I don't feel prepared or really sure I want to do it... but in one of two applicants and know the planel well so really think I should. Just thought I'd share with you. On the talk of procrastination, For my presentation/ prep. I have imagined a perfect presentation, all the pictures etc, and mine is a pale imitation so I've been avoiding doing it. But now it's today.

Searchingforsparkle · 10/03/2026 08:54

Good luck @Alwaysgrowing!! Hope all goes well today 💐

Searchingforsparkle · 10/03/2026 09:00

🎉 5 mins downstairs general tidy and 2 mins general tidy upstairs
🎉school run now I’m off to work !

hope everyone has a good day 🙂

Off to a good start this week. Done my morning tasks Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. And mostly afternoon and evening though still need to edit them to suit me better.
I sweeper kitchen and bathroom yesterday and steam cleaned bathroom floor.
Then made good progress in the zone.
Washed kitchen cupboards, kitchen appliances and canisters, microwave, oven hood and filters which were from the list. Added in surfaces and tiles which aren't on list which is odd.
Also taken all rubbish/ recycling out and ready for collection and garden waste bin filled and out for collection.

Not sure I'll make it to oven cleaning as it's so overdue it's a huge grotty job. Will see. Cleaned fridge a couple of weeks ago due to a spillage so won't bother with that either.
I did yesterday's daily task but don't have dirty dishes sitting around so that's not on my list.
Took some of my clutter to charity, got books I'm taking to the swapping shelf today.

Positivepositron · 11/03/2026 14:56

Another productive day.
Did 2 x appointment sorting and tesco online shop. Usual dishwasher, washing machine, recycling etc.
Hoovered bedrooms.
Did the daily mission of decluttering in the kitchen. So decluttered island and kitchen table and then cleaned them. And also cleaned dog bowls and all radiators across the house. Returned various shoes and coats from across the house to the porch.
DD was home ill so off work or wouldn't have got any of this done.

Help! I have downloaded the Flylady plus app - and subscribed but now I’m stuck! It is very US centric (I’m in UK) and I can’t find how to personalise it, I know how to add to each zone, but how do I add (for example) dining room, craft room, office, study etc? Also there seems to be options for garden, but it won’t let me see it?

Positivepositron · 11/03/2026 18:37

I'm not subscribed so not sure about the extras like garden but on the free version dining room and office are included. I'd just add the craft room tasks on to another room as I don't think you can add rooms.

See I can’t see them on either the free or subscribed version - I must be going mad! I am getting really miffed after paying the subscription!

Are you on the zone tab?

Yes

Positivepositron · 12/03/2026 07:21

That's odd. I'd just edit those that you have I guess, change the den into your craft room and family room into office and dining room or whatever works for you. Or maybe you've downloaded a different version??

Positivepositron · 12/03/2026 07:24

I agree it's very annoying though especially as you've paid.

bigyellowduster · 12/03/2026 12:54

I’ve contacted them and asked and got an email back saying ‘yes you can add rooms to zones’ but no information on how to do it! 😡

if I don’t get this sorted I will lose all enthusiasm and motivation and I will be totally pissed off after blowing £40, I’ve never paid for an app before which shows how committed I was to start with!

BloomingHazel · 12/03/2026 16:49

@bigyellowduster if you click on the + at the top, can you add the room that way? See picture.
I don't have the paid version so the + is greyed out at the top of the zones screen. I can only add tasks in each zone.
Since I don't have the option, I would add the room & task as a task, not the best option, but might still help 🤷‍♀️

ExcellentDaydream · 12/03/2026 18:28

It does say you can on the paid version. Have you tried the pencil icon at the top of the homescreen?

ExcellentDaydream · 12/03/2026 22:32

Tada!

Fed cats
Emptied dishwasher
1 x LOL, put on line as it was windy but it rained and so it ended up in the dryer
Menu planning
Food shopping, unpacking etc
Various bits of parent admin
Helped DS proofread a job application
2x exercise class
Cleared up kitchen (DH cooked)

BloomingHazel · 14/03/2026 05:50

It has been a crazy week in the Hazel household. DS got in trouble at school. Parent teacher conferences. Meeting I took minutes at (it was a long day - 13 1/2 hours at work). I'm so glad it's the weekend!

After work tonight I made a cheesecake, handwashed dishes, mopped the floor.

Saturday is going to be busy for us, we are celebrating birthdays happening next week (FILs & mine). We're going to some hot springs after shopping and then going out for dinner to our favourite Mexican restaurant!

I still haven't made any truffles! Not sure they'll happen at this point..

BloomingHazel · 14/03/2026 05:58

Always how did your interview go?

ED good luck to DS for a job application 🤞

WinterFrogs how are you doing? Are you feeling okay? Last you posted you said you were feeling not quite right. 💐

Cherry it sounds like DH redeemed himself. How are you doing? You've been busy!

Searching how about eggs on toast? Scrambled with spinach? Maybe add some cheese? It sounds like you've made a good start.

BloomingHazel · 14/03/2026 05:59

I'm sorry if I've missed mentioning anyone, it's getting late and I'm tired! Time for sleep 😴

bigyellowduster · 14/03/2026 06:05

All sorted now, the emails got progressively more helpful until DH worked it out! My kitchen still looks pristine- that’s 5 days now, I think this might actually work. I just want a house that I can invite someone into without being embarrassed. I think this app might actually do it. And being retired helps, I have gained 2 days each week and I am determined to use them to keep the house together.

Positivepositron · 14/03/2026 09:20

Glad you figured it out @bigyellowduster
Week is nearly over and feel the morning and afternoon routines are going well. Evening one less so.
Home blessings are getting there. Though for instance haven't done doors yet but really scrubbed all door frames which took quite a long time. So feel it will build over time until it's more manageable.
Zone has gone well, didn't clean fridge as already pretty clean due to a spill and didn't do oven as didn't have time or clear a shelf in larder.
Of course I may manage something else today.
4 bags to charity shop done as well.
All in all feel it's been a successful week.

BloomingHazel · 14/03/2026 14:26

Positive you have accomplished a lot! I do agree that I get more done when I'm actually able to be home vs at work (or out & about).
Over time you'll find it doesn't take as long to complete a task as it's not as dirty/ messy, with revisiting each zone every month.

@bigyellowduster yay! I'm glad you got it figured out and that it's working for you!
I apologise, I don't think I actually welcomed you to the thread! So welcome 👋

I've just had a cup of coffee. I need to finish getting ready for the day. I also need to make a coconut pecan frosting for FIL as requested for his part of the cheesecake (it's also my favourite too, but I made a Bailey's whipped cream last night, yum!).
The house is still quiet with DH & DS still sleeping, I'm enjoying the stillness!
