Beepworld on YouTube has some recent how to create an outfit videos shocked. My tip, once you've found an outfit that works store it all together. Makes life so much simpler in the morning not to have to worry about matching up an outfit. I store all my clothes this way now. Also if you don't mind doing this, picking just one style and sticking to it would make things a lot simpler. Then don't buy anything that doesn't match with your chosen style, however lovely it may be. I can't do it, but I do store the different styles in different sets of drawers/rails so they don't get mixed up. Makes it easier to decide what coat and shoes when I know what style pile the clothes came out of because I already know this jacket works with that style etc and this one doesn't. It's why I like catalogues. It may not be very original but they tend to sell a particular style, so you know their things will go together. Some websites do similar, offering you the chance to shop the rest of the look that the model is wearing when you select one item. Make a Pinterest board (or buy some magazines, cut out and stick down on paper if you're old-school), looking for similarities in the things you've picked afterwards. Your personal style will emerge. Then shop your wardrobe and have a trying on day to make outfits for summer.

One CD gone today. Total is 3528.

Well i have completed the office and bedroom, both are looking 'perfect' in my eyes with every item having a home, all diy or mending done, and paintwork retouched. New carpet arriving soon which will hopefully freshen it up. I didn't count items, but two bin bags of stuff removed.

Now to tackle the kitchen

Vinorosso74 · 27/05/2025 07:34

Reading this and seeing some good decluttering, I'm disappointed I'm not making much progress recently.
Week off this week, we do have some plans but I reckon if I aim to spend an hour a day on a decluttering task, that should help.
I did spend a lot of yesterday cleaning and tidying, two outs a bent hula hoop and broken mop handle (which DP kept "tidying" into the cupboard).

IDareSay · 27/05/2025 10:52

Some great results here and some good tips. Miserable weather today so I'll sort some more clothes for Vinted. Having rid myself of all the socks I don't like I am now working my way through the knicker drawer! Wear them for a day and if I don't like them for any reason into the bin they go. Some are new and I don't know what possessed me to buy them 😳

Accidentally decluttered a serving plate, which fell out of the cupboard and broke when I opened it yesterday. It is (was!) my only serving dish as I have a small kitchen and tend to plate up people's portions as I go, so not a massive loss but I did like it. Also got rid of a wine glass which has a random chip on the inside about half way up the bowl - no idea how that happened but when I washed it up I ended up taking a chunk out of my knuckle, so binned it.

DP had one of his random bursts of enthusiasm and cleared out some of our spare bedroom/Room of Doom - we got rid of some old unused toys to the charity shop (still need to take them though!), broke down some cardboard boxes for recycling and binned some out of date sweets that got forgotten from Christmas.

CherryRipe1 · 27/05/2025 12:08

Went through my travelling toiletries bags and binned all the out of date sun lotions and dried up sachets, gunky/nearly empty mini travel shampoos, conditioner, lip balms and lotions.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 27/05/2025 17:41

Binned - five broken pens.

Paper bin - A laundry box of physics and biology notes from last century.

For charity shop - five children’s books.

Found a shiatsu massager that doesn't work, that's gone out for electrical goods recycling.

MrsBird03 · 27/05/2025 19:56

Well i didn't get very far today, my kitchen is upside down but bins going tomorrow so condensed lots of stuff and packaging is out of the way! Found a soup that runs out next months and made a little pile of foods that sit there and never get touched, so have to eat from the basket and use them up! My kitchen is currently upside down and LO knocked rice kripies over the floor, despite hoovering I'm still hearing snap, crackle and pop 🤪🙄

took a bag of clothes to the charity shop

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 28/05/2025 10:12

I made a trip to the tip yesterday to throw away some rubbish.

Not much on vinted as I have not posted recently but I set aside some clothes my DD has outgrown and we are working through her wardrobe.

MrsBird03 · 28/05/2025 11:33

@ememem84 that is so cute, my LO calls them Barbaras 🤣 look Mummy i can see Barbara!

Well i decluttered oats, golden syrup etc. By making flapjacks....so just need yo declutter the flapjacks now with a cuppa🤣

Has anyone heard of Caroline Thor? I found her on spotify, free version, and finding her interesting to listen to. There is a short blurb about being a konmari consultant at the start of each episode, but zone out and her chats are helpful.

ememem84 · 28/05/2025 11:44

@MrsBird03

in a similar vein, the dc seem to have decluttered the snack drawer. this is annoying. because now they will be bugging me for snacks. which we don't have. so i'm going to have to go to the shop this afternoon. (only for my own sanity as while i'm wfh they seem to be starving constantly.....)

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 28/05/2025 18:14

One tub of construction toy that no-one plays with any more. Set aside for donate / sell.

Two pairs of school trousers have disappeared. So had to dig out old outgrown trousers which fit again in the waist due to growth spurt and resulting skinniness. Not replacing anything for the four weeks left of this term.

Sorted through some abandoned paperwork. Mostly filed. Changed a subscription from magazine to digital only, so less clutter from now on.

Ouch Sidney ☹️

One dress that's too big and two DVD's gone. Total is 3531.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 29/05/2025 03:10

Last week: one dress I’ve never worn; a skirt, ditto; blouse I don’t like enough to wear; pair of jeans that chafe; soft toy I was given for Christmas (I’m in my 60s), all to charity. Two empty moisturiser jars.

7 (starting late).

CharnwoodFire · 29/05/2025 07:24

I'm not officially decluttering, but yesterday I got rid of 21 tops from my cupboard!
I don't wear them - (not my style / too hot / too cold / misshapen / stained) - but has been holding on to them.

Now I've cleared out, it feels so much better! I can wear all the tops in my wardrobe, I can see them all, and they have enough space to be hung properly. And they even have enough room to swing a bit on their hangers.

I might even buy a new stripey long sleeved top to add to it.

IndianSummer78 · 29/05/2025 14:30

Got to start somewhere chocolatecindertoffee.

Stripey tops are one of my favourite things charnwoodfire.

Out goes a sock with a hole in it.
Total is 3532

ChocolateCinderToffee · 29/05/2025 15:05

OK. Cleared out a Big Cupboard and got rid of

charity shop

  • two handbags and three t-shirts

to recycle

  • two cotton bags that IKEA pillows came in
  • three cardboard boxes and a plastic box
  • a lone slipper, the pair of which I threw away a month ago
  • a shrunk cardigan

a pile of rubbish inc two solid shampoo bars that have gone sticky and a shoe hanger from Cath Kidston that has a hole in it.

also, a LOT of dust.

23 so far.

CheesePlantFeet · 29/05/2025 17:03

DD went through her wardrobe... Unprompted! 😱 And I continued to sort through very old paperwork.

Charity shop: 2x bags, trainers

Bin / recycling : filing system box, 1x pile papers shredded, 1x pile papers binned, broken sleeping bag, chipped glass bowl

Vinted/sold locally: bag

Total 1136

ememem84 · 29/05/2025 17:12

Tackled the under stairs cupboard today. Put suitcases and two bags containing duvets up in the loft. The dc had to help me.

sorted through the “party” boxes. And have managed to condense it all into one box. Got rid of a whole bag of rubbish from that box. And have enough party bags and assorted party bag gubbins to not need to buy any for dds party end of July.

also lumped all balloons (from various party leftovers) into one bag. Again have about 100 balloons.

collected some stuff from dsis’ house and will take to the dump for her tomorrow (am doing a green waste trip too so makes sense to help her out!)

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 29/05/2025 17:27

Paper bin - sixteen mags that I’ve changed to digital subscription. All the info in the mags is easily accessible on its app. Should have changed this years ago.

Teenager suddenly much more amenable to decluttering suggestions. Has brought down a tub of outgrown socks and undies. Some of the socks will fit me. Also three pairs of fleecy joggy bottoms.

Think this is lovely as it shows kids really watch and follow your example. You're helping her build good habits x

Aww thank you! Fingers crossed eh! She's a sentimental soul though, we went through one of her drawers together a few weeks ago and I had to say to her that 3 pairs of socks that no longer fit, she never wears, but have sentimental value to her is the absolute limit... Sentimental socks 🤣
I was particularly impressed with her wardrobe clearing too!
