Babysteps Day 16
Mission

Morning all.
Dyls congrats on finishing the essay. I hate printers, mine has started eating paper 4 sheets at a time.

Jas Good to see you

TMH Glad you're getting some help with the anaemia. It's so horrible, I always feel as if someone has snuck sleeping tablets into my food and it makes me feel really nervy too. Luckily iron supplements usually work for me.

All good here, just up quite early cos DD woke at 6. I'm sure it'll mean I get lots done today

BiancaCastafiore · 29/04/2008 09:00

Morning

Thanks for the thread IVC
Dyls well done on the assignment
EHM have a fun morning
TMH busy day today - good luck!

Step-mum was sent home last night - I haven't heard what the outcome of the tests was yet, I'll give them a chance to lie-in and call them later in the morning. Thanks for all the good wishes. I get on OK with s-mum but we're not exactly close...I was mostly worried for my dad having to go through having a sick wife again as he did when my mum was poorly....does it make me a bad person that I was more worried for dad than I was s-mum?

Anyway! No work today so I need to tackle some jobs at home.
A shelf in our large kitchen cupboard collapsed last night so I need to empty it and give it a good clear-out (am certain it broke due to over-loading )
I hope to find time to sort through a few cupboards which have been bugging me too.

Back later x

intravenouscoffee · 29/04/2008 09:29

Morning Bianca, Scatty, TMH and EHM

Bianca Glad to hear your SM is okay. Think it's natural to be moe worried about your dad, esp if you and SM aren't especially close. Don't feel bad. If you get a min could you give me a link to your shop's website? Am on the hunt for some lovely house things.

Morning routine underway but can't get motivated to wash the dishes. Have put laundry on and sorted just about everything else tho so don't feel too bad. We have people here sorting out our garden today. They've been coming 2 days a week for the past fortnight and have cleared it all (was a bit like a jungle) and are laying a new patio today. It'll look great when it's all done but at the moment it looks v muddy and a bit bare! Have given up on mopping the kitchen floor as it's just permenently covered with muddy paw prints!

Right, off the the library to take back books and pay about £20 in late fines! See you all later

BiancaCastafiore · 29/04/2008 09:33

IVC here is my shop

I now have the contents of the kitchen cupboard all over the kitchen floor. No wonder the shelf collapsed - it had loads in there and it's mostly stuff I never use (sentimental value dishes etc from our family home. Not sure what to do with any of it)

Jas · 29/04/2008 09:36

Morning.

I'm not teary today which is good, but am very anxiousabout the car (MOTtoday....it may have to be scrapped if ork required is too much, which I would prefer as I hate it and it is V expensive to run, but dp loves it, and won't let us drive to France in the other on. Other car has MOT tomorrw, when I will have the same problem again, but I really want to keep that one. It is much more practical for dps work, and cheaper to run.)

House is a total tip, and I am supposed to be clearing all the tools out of the new bathroom so dp can start work in there again....

sagacious · 29/04/2008 09:45

Morning ALL
Glad you're feeling a bit better jas

Well I have lots to do:

Big mound of washing
Huge pile of ironing
S/S kitchen
Sainsbury delivery
Put away groceries
Sweep floor
Mop kitchen floor
Empty hoover drum
Hot spot clothes in main bedroom
Strip beds
Wash bedding
Make beds
Nursery run x 2
School run x 1
Update points tracker on weightwatchers
Rearrange benefit makeover day

That little lot should keep me busy !

Have a good day !

intravenouscoffee · 29/04/2008 11:05

Thanks for the link Bianca
STILL haven't washed up dishes but have been to library and taken DH's boots for re-heeling so not a total failure. Also did a survey on dog food and got paid £3 for it which was quite nice! Dd now sitting on the floor eating a rice cake and making loots of mess. According to the news today children eating dirt is good for their health - if that's true DD will never have a day's sickness in her life!
Hope you're all having a good day.

Hello, I think I need help, have fallen off the fly wagon don't get on here much now and have realised that this thread was keeping me going and my house was getting better. I need to get going again, am now 34 wks pg and tired which doesn't help, but it was starting to get better and now the house is a tip again

I've missed wks of threads so there is no point in trying to catch up with people, will just give a general hello an jump back in if that's ok?

Hoping that it is not as bad as it looks and won't take as long as last time to get better.

Right 15min timer and start in the kitchen I think.

dylsmum1998 · 29/04/2008 11:50

scatty the course does seem to have loads of work to it, still nearly done now, am worrying a bit about next year as i have to do work experiance plus all the work and lectures i've had this year, am hoping to get more info in advance this time, so can prepare myself n advance of whats expected. still last lectur efor the year is friday and i have a fortnight til my exam then i can relax about things til sept when it all starts again
i dont worry about poeple seeing the house a mess- i dont let anyone in always arrange at play areas or their houses on the pretence of we have parking resztrictions here so very hard for residents to park let alone visitors- so they think i'm being considerate going to them
bianca have saved your shop for when i eventually move love the look of some of the rugs etc
jas fingers crossed ofr your cars i hate mots
damewashalot welcoe back- jump right in- its warm in here

TheMadHouse · 29/04/2008 11:53

damewashalot · 29/04/2008 12:01

Um...... haven't actually got as farr as the kitchen yet need to now so can feed my LO.

Might be more dipping my toes in than jumping but I'm working on it

Ludaloo · 29/04/2008 12:21

Hi all

Bianca I'm sorry to hear about your SM, glad she is ok though, must have been a worry for you all.

Hi to Dame lovely to see you.

JAS ! Great to see you too....I am glad you are feeling less teary, I hope the MOT goes well.

Well I have done a bit of running....ran 2.2 miles, stopping half way for a 60 second walk. I'm gobsmacked how quickly you get better at this running milarky! I was quite comfortable, bit tired at the end though.

I am also an official Avon rep
First lot of catalogues are on their way!

I'm currently listening to A bit of Nelly
...and working out what we are going to do in gardening club this afternoon.

Fell out with hubby AGAIN....it will never ever get better, we fall out over the exact same thing, and nothing I can do will change things....I give up.

Well I had better get on with the washing....which BTW is working fine...the fault is in the plug socket (I think the landlord needs to take a good look at the electrics)

Oh and I made the dreaded call to the lady next door....she was lovely, and totally understood. (thankfully)

grouchyoscar · 29/04/2008 12:28

A quick Grouchy HELLO to ALL Jas Hello
Bianca You OK, how's your stepmum?

Done my morning routines but I was so annoyed with Ed today I went on strike. I am sick to death of getting up, getting stuff ready and sorted only to get to 8am and Ed is refusing to get washed and dressed. IT'S NOT DIFFICULT you know. He's at school with what looks like a small haystack on his head as he wouldn't let me brush it IF YOU DON'T HELP, YOU GO LOOKING AS YOU ARE.

Been busy doing my community cohesion bit at the school. Off to do the SEAL course this aft

I've checked the seedlings, fed the birds, fed me and got stuff out for tea. Stripped the bed, pegged the washing out and potterred.

One of my new walking sticks has arrived. It's rather nice (for that sort of thing) and folds up in my bag, which is nice

Hope all are well

scattyspice · 29/04/2008 12:47

Hi all.

Grouchy DS is just the same and now DDs going that way too!

Luda Good luck with Avon. My lovely Avon neighbour brought my stuff round last night, 2x 1L bottles of gorgeous bubble bath for £5!

Bianca You're not a bad person. With our patients, the carers need as much (sometimes more) support as the patient. Glad she home though.

Dyls shame you can't count looking after your LO as work exp!

Need to sort out winter clothes and put in the loft tonight (yeah)!

Then clean the living room (boo).

BiancaCastafiore · 29/04/2008 13:03

Hello and welcome back Dame hope everything is going well with you? 34 weeks time flies!

Still no answer from the phone at my dads houseWhen should I worry again?...

Luda you're doing brilliantly with your running! Well done I keep meaning to ask if you could add my mums name to your running ticket for Race for Life? It'd mean a lot to me if you could

Jas hope the car situation sorts itself through. Good luck with sorting the bathroom I want a new bathroom!

Scatty thanks

Grouchy my ds is going through similar phases to Ed I think - aren't they a very similar age? (my ds is almost 4.9)

Well, the insides of my kitchen cupboards have never looked so good I have been as ruthless as a sentimental horder like me can be and had a big clearout. Still a couple more to do but I may leave it there for today and get my usual daily routines done before i have to collect the kids.
TTFN

NotABanana · 29/04/2008 13:23

Hi all

I am soooooooooooooooo bored. Every day is pretty much the same and I just can't get motivated to do stuff all the time.

Have done all the washing, cleaned the main bathroom, folded up dry clean clothes, fed DS2 and me, hoovered a bit and emptied and loaded the dishwasher putting it on again but there are so many other things that need doing..........

dylsmum1998 · 29/04/2008 13:28

luda wow well done with the running thats great

scatty is a shame, i missed the lecture when they were talking about the work experiance we need to do, apparently we need to do some with special needs children and just being plain awkward sods doesnt count [grin}
i am looking forward to gaining the experience i've never worked in a group childcare setting- i have a somewhat biased view on my preferences for childcare. am hoping the experiance will have a positive impact on my views as what i have seen has only been negative

have managed to tidy a little, hoover wash up last nights dishes, the breakfast dishes.. have lunch and wash up again am now making the sauce for the pasta, so will have more washing up.
received some info on the assignment i have to have on friday, so planning on doing that soon

grouchy Ed is at that wonderfully awkward age isnt he- very frustrating for you

TheMadHouse · 29/04/2008 13:35

Groucy DS1 always has a bed head - just take a look at the profile photos if you dont believe me. Most morning I manage to spray and wide tooth comb whilst he is engrosed in his breakfast. I do it and run

Ludaloo · 29/04/2008 13:36

Of course I can Bianca It would be a pleasure I will put it on and wear it for you and her Just mail me her name/message or facebook it to me
The running ticket is fairly large so I can add a few on there

Jas · 29/04/2008 13:38

NAB- I am just here for a bit of a kick to get me going.

I've achieved very little.
No word from the garage...I'm hoping it waits til dp gets home and can deal with it as whatever I decide tends to be wrong when it comes to cars)
TMH dp has a 12 yr old Jag. It si so expensive to run, and so battered and worn that we can't sell it He loves it and is convinced it is the safest for the dc, but it is so impractical with three dc
He also has a Vaxhall Vectra for work (bought last year because it was cheaper than replacing four tyres on the jag) which is much more family friendly.

They are both heaps and we will be lucky if we manage to keep one of them on the road.

I've cooked tonights tea, and cleared out under the sink (DD2 accidentally disconnected the w/m looking for her wellies this am and I din't notice until it had run through almost an entire cycle. All my cleaning stuff was floating in its big plastic box!)
I've also emptied the new bathroom (I'd love one too Bianca but progress is so slow I'm wondering if it will ever get finished)

I have tons of clean washing to put away, and a huge pile of slightly different black socks to pair up.

Ludaloo - I understand re dh. I often think we are in similar situations.
@ the improvement in your running already! Good for you!

Welcome back Dame Grouchy I think they all do it. I guess he is asserting his independance.(by not doing stuff) You just have to keep doing what you are doing and let him work out for himself why he should do stuff like get dressed and brush his hair.
Now probably isn't a good time to tell you that dd2 (7.7) only really took responsibility for herself this year?
