I'm shocked at some of these! We just got our bill today - £171 for the year (unmetered)

cheesesarnie · 04/04/2008 23:10

really?
i suppose though we pay less council tax than some-88 for 10 moths a year and 500 a month rent for 3 bed and garden which is about 150 cheaper than anything same size round here,so maybe water makes up for it?

sasquatch · 04/04/2008 23:10

£302. approx I pay about £6.00 per week it doesnt seem a lot. No meter.
i dont waste water but if it was metered I would try to use less

Pavlovthecat · 04/04/2008 23:10

chirpy - thousands probably - if you were in cornwall you would be paying say for easiness £500 per year, times that by 15 = £7,500! if my maths adds up.

Thats one hell of saving. Obviously minus septic tank charges.

Even if it is somewhere cheaper it is likely to be thousands still!

Pavlovthecat · 04/04/2008 23:13

Cheese - is that cheap for council tax? its similar to here, I thought that was a lot

cheesesarnie · 04/04/2008 23:15

me too .im pretending others must pay more so it makes me feel better anywat must dash-am piddled and my beloved is on telly in a bit!i'll return for whinge tomorrow!

Pesha · 04/04/2008 23:32

Waterrates have just gone up to £38 (ish) a month for 10 months with Wessex water.

Council tax was about £110 a month, over 10 months again, last year - cant remember what it is now. Thats in Somerset for 3 bed HA house. Seems alot to me.

Also my rent has gone up by a third over the 4.5 years I've lived here Not sure how they've worked that out as they've done nothing to the house in that time and friend up the road in identical house pays less than me Must remember to ring them and ask why.

oooggs · 05/04/2008 10:09

tigger - on the sww bill on the back they do a capped rate for people with 3 school aged children of £415 ish a year, I think - check it out - we don't qualify now (dcs not old enough and we don't use huge amounts at the moment - don't wash them )

but this would benefit you

throckenholt · 05/04/2008 10:11

about £350 - just paid it for this year - no meter, includes sewage. Family of five.

snorkle · 05/04/2008 11:48

About £350 per year metered for 4. Anglian Water. I'm fairly sure we don't waste much water, though it has gone up somewhat since we got the dishwasher and I water the veggies a bit in the summer. Usage is about 125 (metres cubed I think) per year.

Does anyone else know their volume used (if metered)? It's a more useful comparison than price as the regions vary in price so much.

shinyshoes · 05/04/2008 12:03

Mine is not on a meter and we pay around £291.00 a year which is fair I suppose.

There are 2 adults 3 children

WideWebWitch · 05/04/2008 12:06

£828, is that a lot? Anglian water.

WideWebWitch · 05/04/2008 12:08

Hang on, just skimmed the thread and mine's the highest here, why? It's only 4 of us in a 3bed house.

snorkle · 05/04/2008 12:48

It does seem a lot WWW. We are Anglian too. The 3 bed house is only relevent if you are unmetered - are you? If so it seems huge.

Iota · 05/04/2008 13:03

blimey we're Anglian too and ours is about £480 pa (£39 pcm ATM)
