OP posts:
TiggerToTheMax · 04/04/2008 22:28

We pay £53 a month on South West water (not on meter)

lljkk · 04/04/2008 22:32

About 230/annum, on a meter.... there are 6 of us, including baby in cloth nappies.
We are really mean with the water, double up on baths, etc.

yurt1 · 04/04/2008 22:34

South West Water bills are a joke.

TiggerToTheMax · 04/04/2008 22:37

South west Water are!!!! Grrrrr.......and the thing is,the bills go up quickly not just an extra couple of pound a year. Last year I was paying £48 thats a fiver!!!!!!
On top of that the council tax is £110 a month, no wonder we are always skint!!

Breathe....sorry rant over

yurt1 · 04/04/2008 22:38

I was looking on SWW website earlier and apparently non-metered customers went up by 8% this year, metered by about 4%.

I do need to look into a meter, but not until I'm sure they'll give us a disabled rebate for ds1 or I could end up worse off!

cheesesarnie · 04/04/2008 22:39

£660 and just gone up to cant remember what.
yurt were south west water too-they tis be pants dear

Pavlovthecat · 04/04/2008 22:40

£540 plus or minus a few pounds. South west water.

Pavlovthecat · 04/04/2008 22:43

yurt1 - we went on to meter 6 months ago, and it works out that we are saving around £40 per year!!! .
Trying to save water, but DH uses too much. He says, he does not want a bloody cold shower so he will wait until it is heated thank you very much. He also says if DD wants a bath, she will have one, even if she had one the day before. And seeing as she likes to swim, I guess he believes she needs it full to the top. .

cheesesarnie · 04/04/2008 22:45

it would be cheaper to go swimming

TiggerToTheMax · 04/04/2008 22:46

You can get a leaflet from South West water telling you who is entitiled to what type of benefit.
I don't think it would work for us. I have 5 year old triplets, lots of washing, baths (shower is not fitted yet)paddling pool in the summer!!!
It works for my mum though as its just her and my nan.

WendyWeber · 04/04/2008 22:46

£290 (£29 monthly for 10 months).

Not metered, based on old rateable values - United Utilities.

TiggerToTheMax · 04/04/2008 22:47

that should be very large paddling pool I'm not that tight

Pavlovthecat · 04/04/2008 22:48

lol cheesesarnie! . maybe i should charge those in dd's swimming class to come use our bath, recoup some money

TiggerToTheMax · 04/04/2008 22:48

NOOOOO!!! We pay the full 12 months!!! Oh I wish i hadn't looked at this thread before I go to bed!!! I'll never sleep now!!!

cheesesarnie · 04/04/2008 22:49

were do you get leaflet from?worth a try.im not on a meter were in rented house-would they switch?i dont know if wed save much.ive got 3 children but we do reuse water

cheesesarnie · 04/04/2008 22:51

we pay 12 months too!

Pavlovthecat · 04/04/2008 22:54

cheese. I dont know if you would save. Apparantly 3 person family uses average 11 units per month, and we use 8 which saves £40-60. If you are using over the 11, it would be more the normal rates, I think. if you go to the website for sww, they will tell you if you can get help. Those with more than 3 children on certain benefits can get help. Also you can do a questionaire to see how much you would use spend compared to rates. I reckon you wont save tho, even if you re-use. Not with SSW.

TiggerToTheMax · 04/04/2008 22:55

My leaflet came with the payment book they just sent me,I'm sure you could get one by ringing their office I would look at mine for you but I think I have binned filed it somewhere

I am in rented property (council) and they are really pushing for meters to be put in. I don't know if a private landlord would do it as it puts some people off and once you have a meter put in I don't think that you can change back

Pavlovthecat · 04/04/2008 22:56

cheese - they would do it if your landlord agrees. Also, if you try and it does not work out, you can revert back to rates if it is within a year. I am waiting until August and see how we do in the summer. One good thing about DH using lots of water for shower - more water to recycle for plants!

cheesesarnie · 04/04/2008 22:59

lol thanks so probably not worth it then? i hate how expensive cornwall is but how crap pay is-grrrr

TiggerToTheMax · 04/04/2008 22:59

Obviously I meant you can change back

chirpycherrycake · 04/04/2008 23:00

We pay nothing, on spring water.
Haven't paid a water bill for over 15 yrs, shocked at how much you all have to fork out!!!
Had been thinking about moving, might not now!

Remotew · 04/04/2008 23:02

Mines £40 a month x 12 months and there are 2 of us.

cheesesarnie · 04/04/2008 23:05

chirpycherrycake-dont we used to have spring in old house(and generator!)sooo much cheaper and tasier!dont move!

chirpycherrycake · 04/04/2008 23:08

........we must have saved hundreds over the years...funny, it's something I never think about!
