Very keen to get some idea! Mine are currently thrown in a box in a cupboard. I am dreaming of them being organised alphabetically and orderly! 0

@Implosion85 sorry thought I’d linked to this. But there was no label for Marjoram!

I'm also feeling rather envious - I would so much love to have a pantry! But sadly it's not really possible here. I see some of the cupboard door ones are hung on the door so that they don't hit the actual shelves, but then I guess if there is something on the front of the shelf it must interfere somewhat.

RosyappleA · 24/04/2024 11:01

I have one of those plastic fridge or stationary boxes and refuse to keep more than about 12 which it fits. I keep salt and pepper separately.
Anything I need for an unusual recipe is rare and I will buy it fresh to stop me from accumulating so much!

@LenaLamont

Would love to see yours. Ditto Indian/Moroccan spices in packets - hence the big jars on top

Ours used to be just shoved on a cupboard and were a complete mess. So we bought a whole drawer unit for them. Top drawer for savoury spices (curry stuff plus paprika), second drawer baking spices, then more random savoury stuff, then baking powder etc and in the bottom we keep the stuff we hardly use (powdered fenugreek, whole dried ginger, tamarind)

I love that drawer unit!

I definitely have spice jar envy! Most often used spices are on a tiered rack from Amazon, it’s quite deep as well so is handy, the not so often used ones are in a pull out cupboard underneath the hob, everything looks messy! Must tidy tomorrow 😂

@Iwouldratherbesinging

Where is you little lamp from please? It's just what I'm looking for!

Small ones in the shallow cupboard against the hearth, big ones in the pull out rack

After much trial and error with many types of rack, I settled on these from Amazon. They are clear perspex. I have one beside the cooker that I use a lot of. The other's are on the backs on the kitchen doors. I have moved them around a bit but I love the fact they take up no additional room. I have a tiny Galley kitchen, so space is important.

I love these too! Do they stick on on or screw in?
Have you got a link for them please?

@CarpeVitam its from Ikea and is a perfect size…

Omg wow that's beautiful. Where did you get that?

It came with the kitchen, it was a second-hand custom made one that someone was ripping out of their (very grand!) house. I love it so much, if we ever move I'm taking the drawer with me!

DamnedIfIDoDamnedIfIDont · 24/04/2024 15:16

Popped mine in a drawer

Alphabetical, in a fairly bog-standard rack I got on Amazon.

That looks good! Does it fit Bonne Maman jam jars by any chance? All my spices are decanted into old jam jars. Tia

OliveHenry · 24/04/2024 18:50

I have mine in old jam jars, painted with blackboard paint and written on with a chalk marker. It seems a shame to throw nice jam jars away so I'm trying to repurpose them. I just need to find something to do with golden syrup tins next!

LogicLoverLlama · 24/04/2024 19:03

Buy hexagonal jam jars off ebay, a box of 40 or whatever you need, and a label maker, they stack and fit together and are perfect if you have a serious amount of spices, not those tiny pots :)

Mytholmroyd · 24/04/2024 19:40

It is good to see the love for Bonne Maman jam jars! I never throw them away! Even saw a set for sale in a charity shop recently ☺️

Specialnameforanoutingthread · 24/04/2024 20:46

We use Bonne Maman for cleaning paint brushes and other DIY tasks - their wide mouth is always a winner so we keep hold of them.

I found this shop online and they have all sorts of bottles and jars and where all my various sized matching containers come from. My favourite are the stoppered bottles I use for flavoured gins.

MadBlack · 24/04/2024 22:21

This is mine, in a drawer at waist height. I didnt get any cupboards in my new kitchen they are all drawers with cupboard doors. Much easier to find what you are looking for!

Got an extra draw of spices I don’t use often.

Can you all join the secret ingredient thread and say what you all these fancy spices for!

I want to widen my range after seeing all these new spices!

ElizabethVonArnim · 25/04/2024 07:21

In my old house I had a large flat drawer similar to a cutlery drawer (90cm wide, 10cm deep) with grooved plastic holders so all the spices lay down flat and all were visible. It was full, it was organised by groups of flavour, it was a thing of beauty. I miss it 😢

What's the secret ingredient thread? (Not that I think any of mine are particularly secret or exotic.)
