Any advice?

I am a terrible decluttered as I'm indecisive and get overwhelmed/distracted in equal proportions.

Also how many towels! I keep Minging ones for the floor for washing machine filter clearing and grim jobs.

How many pillow cases?

🙏🙏🙏

In a moment of total madness I bought a linen duvet cover. It weighs a ton and looks terrible - I imagine it needs ironing..... what was I thinking?

But I haven't ditched it in the airing cupboard purge because it was quite expensive 🤦‍♀️

Snap! I did exactly the same, it was very expensive but awful to sleep under. I gave it to adult DD for her guest bed.

It's odd about linen. I have some really old Irish linen pillowcases from the 1950s- bought unused in the original boxes - and they are really soft and light. I love them and would like to get a duvet cover the same, but fear modern linen isn't that nice. I also bought a Marks and Spencer linen sheet and it was like sleeping on sacking.

One set for each bed- our room, guest room and three kids single beds. Then 2 spare single sheets and two spare single duvet/pillow cases for kids that sleepover. Am just in the habit of washing them first thing and putting them back same day. Same for towels- we all have one big towel and one small, and then we have a set for guests and a few small towels for bathrooms. Since hugely decluttering all our clothes, there’s so much less washing to do that getting sheets or towels a washing machine slot and dried same day is easy now. It means we never have piles of sheets and towels sat around waiting to go in the wash for weeks on end like we used to (because other things used to take priority- and also now because I have to make sure they’re done).

Those of you saying you get sheets back on the bed the same day as you wash them. How? In summer I can often dry in a day, but there is no way I would get them dry in winter.
Or do you just tumble them?

I did the linen room purge last year. OMG I had so much but could never find anything, but in my defense this is a two family house so a lot came from previous homes

2 King size, 1 double, 3 single beds,a childs bed and three bathrooms

Whittled it down to 3 sets for us, 2 sets for every other bed - and thats full sets from mattress/pillow protectors to covers

Five bath mats

Towels, we dont use hand towels other then in the kitchen, and we both have a bath towel and sheet each, plus I have enough sets of two for the amount of bed spaces as well as dog towels and beach towels. Mum sorts out her own towels and keeps hers elesewhere

Tea towels I have a mountain of. As a PP I use them as kitchen cloths so can get through 3 or 4 a day

And four spare/extra pillows

I do have to have a lot as its our house the rest of the family descend on and usually all beds and bathrooms are in full use from Easter ( have 5 coming Easter week ) through to the end of summer and then over christmas and I just like to have everything at hand and not be rushing with washing inbetween guests

We have a heated towel rail in the bathroom and if I turn them a few times during the day while that’s on then the duvet cover dries in a day. It’s only a few months of the year though, mostly they go outside.
