Are you looking to finally getting into a new routine with housework? Something simple to start that can be easy to add to over time? Flylady may be the answer for you!

This is a long running thread, but we are a friendly bunch and all are welcome to join in.

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.

There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

  • Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
  • Tuesday: plan & play
  • Wednesday: anti-procrastination
  • Thursday: errand day
  • Friday: clean car & purse out. It's also date night (with your significant other, or friends, or yourself!)
  • Saturday: family fun day
  • Sunday: renew your spirit

Common acronyms we use:

  • LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
  • DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
  • LMS: lose/lost my shit
  • DNLMS: did not lose my shit

There are more, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notifications (although I only have it for when the zones change). You can also modify the tick lists to suit your home & lifestyle.

Links are below 👇 if I happen to not add links in time, they do update at midnight in the UK

Oh @Redsquirrel5 so pleased to hear from you, I have been wondering how you were. Great to hear about the charity shop job and the school volunteering, how lovely to be able to do that without all the rubbish that went on when you were working. I haven't been posting much lately because life has been a bit hectic with one thing and another but I keep an eye on the thread as it does motivate and comfort me.

Redsquirrel5 · 28/02/2024 00:06

Oh ED so lovely of you to respond so quickly. I often thought of you all especially when I was faffing in the house. I thought I would be so organised now I have more time but I find I am so slow now. It took me ages to change the bed sheets today. I did manage to declutter a laundry basket of stuff though.
I do still fold the T shirts and knickers the Kondo way. Some of the drawers are lovely and tidy just the rest of the room isn't. I have boxes of stuff that is sorted but I haven't decided what to do with it. Some baby clothes.Still hoping for a grandchild at some stage but thinking i will be waiting a few more years. DD still with her partner and now back in this country. They got stuck with the Covid displacement when travelling.
I don't recognise a lot of names but hope people will let me know. I might consider buying a laptop as DH seems glued to the chair here. Would it be worth re registering with a new name and email? For the Ipad.
Cherry waves to everyone.

Red!! I have been thinking about you, I'm so glad you found us! Hazel here 👋
You could always try to create a new login, but I'm not sure if it will change anything. Do you have Chrome on your iPad? That's what I use & just stay logged in all the time on my phone.

Ta Das:
🐣 3 more LOLs
🐣 cooked dinner
🐣 cleaned up the kitchen after dinner
🐣 rotated DW
🐣 showered, scrubbed, shaved
🐣 clothes out ready for the morning

🍒👋 to everyone

Wednesday is anti procrastination

Today’s mission is to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that doesn’t belong in your living room. Especially focus on things that have been there for so long that you no longer notice them!

Today’s baby step is to include taking care of yourself in your routines. Make sure you get enough sleep, drink enough water, and eat good food. Don’t forget to give yourself breaks. Good reminder for me, as I don’t work much at all I feel guilty for taking breaks or doing things for myself.

Hi @Redsquirrel5 it sounds as though you have managed to make some positive changes to your life. I have similar problems with mumsnet on my iPhone, makes it hard to read threads and post sometimes

The message on my teabag today seems appropriate with today’s baby step!

Not many tadas today, just daily stuff and the mission completed.

Hope everyone is having a good day

I like that message character very true the we need to take care of ourselves, we can't burn the candle at both ends and carry on giving!

My only ta das so far today are work (I'm still here shhh 🤫) & I've placed an order for birthday decorations from Amazon for Saturday, we are doing a birthday dinner for my SIL at our house.

Thursday is errand day
Today’s Mission is to have a detailed vacuuming session in the living room, getting under the furniture and right up to the baseboards.
Today’s baby step is to read the Pamper mission

I’ve just realised it’s the end of Feb. Does anyone want to take on the thread for March or shall I carry on? Happy to if no one minds my slightly sporadic posting

👋to Hazel. Yes I recognised your posts but don't know some of the others name changes or possibly new members since i disappeared. I use google on the Ipad Hazel. I don't have problems with anything els.My phone isn't good enough. My DS2 said recently"It isn't you mum that phone is rubbish!" He has offered to SELL me his old Iphone for £50. I said after all I have done for him he should give it to me but then negotiated £35 take it or leave it. I am waiting to see.😁

Yesterday was charity shop volunteering. Came home to a big mug of tea and a snack in front of a warm fire and promptly fell asleep for 20 minutes. Then carried on making a blanket.Pinks and white squares.Other people make them and I put them together, crochet around the edge and send to Ukraine. This one will go with several more to a Maternity hospital.Starting another today lemon and pale turquoise, should be pretty.
Sitting room stays fairly tidy and clean so I am going to do my bedroom instead which looks like a rats nest. Still trying to sort out paperwork and have several crates of stuff in there which I started before Christmas. The trouble is I need to keep some and then where the hell do you store it when you don't have room. There was a question on Gransnet the other day( not a member but read some threads sometimes) about whether people keep cards and I'm afraid I do but before Christmas I bought a big card box and put them in sections with card dividers for each child and sisters and best friend. Keep my kids ones but not all the others just the best ones. Had a lovely nostalgic time reading them. Oh and some from mum, dad and two special aunts who have all passed away. Needless to say the box is almost full but at least when they sort them they can just give each person theirs to do what they want. I hope they read them at least once. What do you do with yours? I also kept some to put in frames but haven't done that yet so I will aim for that this year. Going to resort my shoes today as I have had an idea.

It is bright and sunny here so I am hoping to go into the green house for a bit. It needs a clean out and since it is March tomorrow I hope to start planting seeds. We won the best kept small village for our county last year.

Pamper Mission.I am going for afternoon tea with best friend today then a dress rehearsal for a concert at the weekend.

Jiggling cake about is not a good idea.

Hope you have a good day.

Morning routine and washing up rhythm still going strong! I've started noticing other places that aren't on the Zones so I've been updating the app with more things to do!

Today's wins:
🎉 Morning routine
🎉 Washing up
🎉 Returned parcel at Post Office (these normally take me a veeeeeery long time)
🎉 Did some admin I've been avoiding for a couple of weeks
🎉 Sorted my inbox (overdue. It's now manageable!)
🎉 15 minute tidy in lounge
🎉 Folded and put away yesterday's laundry (forgot about it in the dryer...)

I'm hoping to get a load of laundry done this evening, as we had got a bit behind with it all and we need a catch-up. It helps that the kitchen is tidier so I have some time when I finish work to get a quick job done instead of endlessly doing washing up to then create more washing up!

TheMainCharacter · 29/02/2024 21:43

Well done @CabbageBearGoat , it’s hard to implement a routine. Worth it though as even on the days where I feel like I haven’t done anything the routines keep it ticking over.

@Redsquirrel5 You sound busy! Laughing at your ds and the phone! My son lent me money the other day as I had no cash and then tried to charge me interest! The cheek of them!

The MainCharacter God loves a trier.

The Afternoon Tea was lovely and my friend and I really enjoyed ourselves and it was great to relax. We were in the conservatory which was nice and warm and looked out onto some of the garden so a few bulbs poking through and a couple of daffs out and quite a few birds. We took a couple of the cakes and a sandwiches home to share. We were very full.
I have been in a concert tonight and we were buzzing as we got a great response and brought the house down with the second song. Repeating tomorrow night so hope it goes as well.
I finished the pink and white blanket and found another I had started so I am halfway through it and will work out a pattern for the mint and lemon one. Hope to have it done by next week. Then there is blue and cream though I might try that all together. Monday is quiz and Tuesday Lent lunch and then cards.luckily in the same venue.
I dusted some of the bedroom today. sorted some washing, Vacuumed and cleaned the sink and loo.Made my bed and stitched the hem of my costume. Answered some emails and deleted some too.
Damn just saw the March message but going to post on here because I cant be bother typing again. There will be a way of copying it but I am too tired as it is 12:34
