Flying through August & the summer holidays with Flylady!

Welcome to this long running thread, we may seem clicky, but all are welcome to join in!

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.

There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Habit of the month of August is Laundry

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

  • Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
  • Tuesday: plan & play
  • Wednesday: anti-procrastination
  • Thursday: errand day
  • Friday: clean car & purse out and date night (what's that again?? 🤔)
  • Saturday: family fun day
  • Sunday: renew your spirit

Common acronyms we use:

  • LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
  • DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
  • LMS: lose/lost my shit
  • DNLMS: did not lose my shit

I'm sure there's more I haven't mentioned, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notifications (although I only have it for when the zones change).

As a side note, this is my first time leading this thread, please be patient with me if I miss something. We really are a friendly bunch!
Links are below 👇 if I happen to not add links in time, they do update at midnight for you.

sunny I find it frustrating when I have a lot to do at home, but stuck somewhere with not enough time to be worth driving home for! It also frustrates me when I'm at work, it's slow, but I have a tonne to do at home.
hills that sounds ideal, to have a meal that DS can make for himself!

No ta das, other than a spin bike workout. I managed to do one on Monday too. I don't think I'll be able to fit anymore in until the weekend though. I'll be baking cupcakes tomorrow night, then Friday all the boys will be here!

Sorry if it's confusing anyone, it's still just before 11pm on Wednesday here!

Thursday is errand day.
The mission is to do a detailed vacuuming session. Move whatever furniture you can, vacuum under the cushions on the couch. Get along the skirting boards. Do not hurt yourself when moving furniture!
Well, the baby step for today is to sign up for her emails. If you don't want to get inundated with them, we strongly suggest you avoid this step!

Today is the last day in the living room, and my last day leading the thread. Thank you all for your patience with me!

@BloomingHazel thanks for the thread and I'll start one later today and share the link

Morning 🌄 everyone 👋
I managed to fall over again yesterday, stepping through the fence at the field and my pesky hip stopped my leg lifting high enough and over I went 😅
I'm certainly feeling my age today!
Have a good day everyone 🙋‍♀️

Searchingforsunnydays · 31/08/2023 08:23

Morning everyone ☕️
@BloomingHazel thanks for this months thread 💐 I really appreciate it ! Sometimes I find it frustrating and sometimes I'm grateful for that small window of time to do a bit of reading or crochet . The receptionist knows me and makes me a coffee - I did manage to get s bit of a system where one of the mums did a drop off , then my oh would stay at work a little longer and pick them up on the way home, but it doesn't work that well during the summer holidays 😊

Thankyou in advance @partypompoms 💐

When I got back last night, the kitchen took so long to sort out ! Luckily ds was happy on his Xbox and dd2 was so tired she went on her tablet for a bit so I popped itv on the iPad and pottered around whilst the news was on . Oh fetched the washing in and remade the bed. The living room and the dailies didn't get done though .

I had a better sleep last night so hopefully todays tasks will be slightly easier! Meeting friends at 1 at the local park so would like to get most 'jobs' done before then!

Searchingforsunnydays · 31/08/2023 08:24

Oh no @CherryogDog I hope you aren't in any discomfort after your fall ?

SingToTheSky · 31/08/2023 09:31

Morning everyone. Sorry about the falling cherry please look after yourself! 💐

I managed a bit of a lie in, but need to get up and at ‘em now. Cannot believe it’s the last day of August. I have a lot of difficult (at least, I find it difficult for various reasons) life admin to do so it must be prioritised when I’d rather put my energy into decluttering. And when DD1 gets home we need to build her bed, as that will mean lots of her stuff can be put away (lots of shelves etc underneath).

The chances of having my nice desk built in a relatively tidy bedroom by Monday are vanishingly small!
