Is changing my sheets twice a week too much?

Not DC's just mine. I love getting into fresh linen. Am I just making a rod for my own back, or does anyone else do this?

I don't know anyone who does this

Whenwillitallmakesense · 18/06/2023 21:05

If that's what you want to do and enjoy, just keep doing it. I personally do it once a week but have been doing it more often over last couple of weeks in the hot abs sweaty weather. But it's not a chore I enjoy, despite loving getting out of shower into freshly made bed

Readyplayerthr33 · 18/06/2023 21:06

Why? Are dirty can you possibly be?

It’s bad for the environment, it makes the lifetime of the sheets shorter, which is also bad for the environment. It is a waste of time. But mainly, all that additional washing is bad for the environment.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 18/06/2023 21:07

If I do it once a week I feel like I’m winning at life!

NuffSaidSam · 18/06/2023 21:07

It's too much for me.

But if you like it and don't mind the environmental impact then carry on. It's not really anyone else's business.

daisychain01 · 18/06/2023 21:11

Once every other week seems a good balance.

we are on a water meter nowadays, so tend to be a bit more mindful about how many wash loads we do per week. I don't like the environmental impact of more water, more detergent, more energy and more ironing - plus, I can't stand bed linen that hasn't been ironed.

CMOTDibbler · 18/06/2023 21:13

My one indulgence in life is clean sheets twice a week, and having a cleaner who does this. I'm not a clean freak by any means, but love the nice bed linen and it being clean

AsCloggedAsADysonFilter · 18/06/2023 21:13

I sleep alone in a king size bed and shower before bed. I change the sheets every other week, often I switch sides of the bed to make me feel like less of a slattern 😂.

As above, every other week feels like a triumph.

PickledMuffin · 18/06/2023 21:14

once a week for me, but if you prefer twice than that is your choice 🤷‍♀️

LadyJ2023 · 18/06/2023 21:15

Once a week unless weather hot

AmandaHoldensLips · 18/06/2023 21:15

Once a week now but when I was going through meno I had to change my sheets every sodding day due to night sweats.

ThisHeatIsKillingMeOff · 18/06/2023 21:16

Twice a week sometimes 3 times a week in the summer for me.

EmeraldFox · 18/06/2023 21:16

I change mine about once a month. I think more than weekly is excessive, that's a lot of extra laundry, time and cost.

DanceMonster · 18/06/2023 21:17

Why would it be ‘a rod for your own back’, when you could stop at any time if it was too much?
Personally I think it’s ridiculous and I could weep for our poor planet, but essentially it’s up to you. Do it if you want, don’t if you don’t want.

EmeraldFox · 18/06/2023 21:17

I do wear pyjamas and change those instead.

Marchintospring · 18/06/2023 21:21

Yes
It may be “lovely” but there are other considerations ; waste of water, detergent, time , money. etc etc. This is what got us into the environmental mess we are
Also you’ll be the first to crumble if the country goes to the wall for any reason. Toughen up. Hotel sheets are a treat and not sustainable globally.

LindorDoubleChoc · 18/06/2023 21:21

If you are happy with the work and the energy / laundry products expense then crack on. You know fine well that those of us who have a care about the environment will think this is excessive. Can only assume you are being goady, not genuinely asking.

Don't worry OP, you can offset the above against my linen laundry which gets done rarely Smile

LlynTegid · 18/06/2023 21:23

In summer when it has been over 30C in the day and 20C at night, I do. About once a week the rest of the year.

Apart from everyone else who shares the earths water with you.

Surely nice things are more of a treat if you have them less often?

continentallentil · 18/06/2023 21:25

I don’t but fresh sheets are nice, so nothing wrong with it. (Short wash cycle though, for mama Earth).

AsCloggedAsADysonFilter · 18/06/2023 21:31

No need to make the OP feel rubbish about this is there??

If I could be bothered or if my cleaner changed the sheets (she doesn’t) I would do it more often than I do.

WhatADrabCarpet · 18/06/2023 21:33

I usually plump pillows but pull the duvet back and leave the fresh air from the permanently opened windows to air the bed .
Always seems fresh when I go to bed.

I change the bed much less often than you.

Maybe I'll offset it against one of the preachy people's airmiles. I haven't flown in years...
