ludaloo · 09/02/2008 13:53

Hi

bianca I will try to get on MSN later...depending on what hubby is doing (not that I particularly care what he is doing...had a huge row and he is a PIG) Off to my friends house very soon.

tort you are forever cutting your fingers..poor you, hope it isn't too sore!

Kids have got the bouncy castle out...its a glorious day! I just wish we could have a bit more of this weather.

Right I'd better get off...see you in a while.

Janni · 09/02/2008 14:06

Hello ALL - quick post before I have to relinquish the computer to the kids and their friend...
Routines are going well, but still having to pick up all the time because DH just leaves things where they land and the kids are kids - what can I say?

So my to do list for this afternoon:
-answer post
-persuade DS to write thankyous for his birthday money etc
-tidy kitchen
-quick clear-up in DS2s room
-reading with DD and DS2
-move DDs DVDs and tidy CDs
-put shopping away
-make sausage casserole

EHM · 09/02/2008 16:01

not read threads. very upset just off the phone to my dad who was jumped by 2 young lads last night on his way home. My brothers have hit the roof

sorry just had to get that off my chest. will be back later once I've calmed down & managed to speak with my brothers. Hope you & your lo's are all ok

tortoise · 09/02/2008 16:14

Oh no EHM Hope he is ok.

We have been in the garden for the last hour. Mickey had a good sniff around and behaved very well.

BiancaCastafiore · 09/02/2008 16:51

EHM I hope your dad is OK? with you x x

SiL is here, reading stories to dd upstairs and giving her loads of time - she's a lovely auntie...I hope she gets to be a mum sometime soon

She gave the kids some remote control cars we had bought for her to give as Christmas pressies and not only does one not work at all but neither of the cars plug into the chargers which came with them! We bought them way back in early dec in Debenhams and have only just opened them now, do you think we can take them back for a refund? Very annoying and we have two disappointed children this afternoon.

TheMadHouse · 09/02/2008 17:00

EHM I can only echo everyone else and hop that your dad is OK, please update us after you have spoken to your bothers.

Well we have been taking advatage of the weather and have dug a new boarder at the bottom of the garden or the bog (the grass was really wet), so we are going to improve the soil and plant over the next week.

DH is also going to start re-laying the patio, it had to come up due to the building works.

BIL and SIL have been involved in a car crash - they were in a shunt in Newcastle this afternoon. I hope they are OK.

DontDreamItBeIt · 09/02/2008 17:01

EHM Is he ok?

Happy birthday gecko FGS I readyour post about dd2. Imo telling a non conforming small child no is pointless.the dds did as they were told and weren't too bad at all. DS is two in two weeks and I know there is no chance of him leaving an xbox, diswasher tabs, or anything else alone. I have a gate on the kichen door, and have the sitin room as afe as possible with nothing he can break (I hope) It saves me alot of wasted breath telling him not to do things. I just hope he does learn eventually.

I'm still FLYing but just not mumsnetting much at the moment. I dohope you all forgive me and let me come back properly when I can.

I hope youare all well.

I have pictures of dd1s new room. to show off. The rest of it here

IndigoMoon · 09/02/2008 17:04

hello all

well i have been at a birthday party all day with dd but managed to get some stuff done this morning but now need to whip around some!

i did my last home blessing on monday and i do think leaving it another week is a bit much! i am wondering whether to do two a week?????

DontDreamItBeIt · 09/02/2008 17:05

xposts Bianca and TMH

I'd definitely try taking them back Bianca as they are obviously faulty.

TMHI hope your BIL and SIL are ok too.
How do you improve soil? We alo have a boggy grass gardeen and dp wants to take out the soil on a skip, but I can't believe that is the only solution

tortoise · 09/02/2008 17:35

TMH Hope they are ok.
Bianca i would take them back too. How very annoying for you and DC.
Don'tdream Hello. Room looks lovely. I didn't know your DD's name was very close to my DD2's name!

Waiting for DS's to come home. They are meant to be back at 5pm. XP didn't say they would be late.[amgry] But luckily i remember DS1 saying he is at a party this afternoon. @ xp!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 09/02/2008 18:02

Hi Guys,

Dipping in to say Happy Birthday to Gecko

And Jas I know you are right. It just got to me yesterday as I'm so tired. DD2 is of course being adorable today!

We've had a MASSIVE move around today moving the piano from the dining room into the living room, the computer where the piano was (it is now DD1s computer as I have laoptop - she thinks she's in heaven!!!) And then coffe table where the computer was. Lots of piles of stuff everywhere but as long as I manage to clear it by Sunday night I'll be very happy.

Btw, shanna if your relatives wouldnt hold a grudge then definitely exchange. Dont mention it unless they ask, but if they do tell the truth.

TheMadHouse · 09/02/2008 18:23

I manage with only one home blessing a week, but tend to do 2/3 hotspots a day, which tends to keep things OK, also we tend to only use the sitting room on an evening keeping it as childfree as possible during the week. we also eat at the dinning table for all our meals so that prevents stuff piling on it - I thought it was pountless having one for special occasions only.

Dream You can buy special soil improver, but depending on the type of soil there is things you can do. We have wet clay at the bottom, so are digging in sand, fertiliser (FIL is a dairy farmer) loads of it and home made compost. The secret is to double dig and then not compact it by walking on it - hence changing from grass to boarder. Our soil is so bad that we grew carrotts, peas and poatoes in barrels last year and will do the same this year, as DH has not got time to do rasied beds, as there is a patio that is more important.

PS I love the green is DD's room. It is a great colour.

We have fed and bathed the boys, they are having storys with DH now and then bed.

Need to find a nice meal for me and DH

BiancaCastafiore · 09/02/2008 18:27

Jas the bedroom looks great I love the green on the walls, a great shade. Sadly my dd is so into pink andn purple I doubt we'll ever see anything other than that on her walls!

tort hope the boys are back now x

tortoise · 09/02/2008 18:35

Bianca Boys got back at 6. No appology from xp i guess he just assumed i knew what time the party ended!
They are both hungry as asual!

BiancaCastafiore · 09/02/2008 19:08

Glad they're back Tort All set for Primevel tonight?

My kids are in bed, SiL has just left and dh hasn't yet mentioned doing any work so I'm hoping for time to talk....

tortoise · 09/02/2008 19:27

Bianca Just walked Mickey and now got Pimeval on! DC all up still! Hope you get a chance to have a good chat with DH.

TheMadHouse · 09/02/2008 19:30

Bianca I hope you do manage time to talk, we are having the steak, egg and chips I had planned for last night and we are going to curl up and watch Deja vu on Sky movies. Densil - yumm

Tort I meant to say I am glad Micky is settling in and that the boys are back, what time are they supposed to be back?

Plans for tomorrow - DH is taking the boys to his mum and dads first thing and is picking up an angle drinder (he needs to cut two paving slabs to lay the step back down)

I am going to Aldi to top up with veg and fruit.

Toad in the hole for dinner.

DontDreamItBeIt · 09/02/2008 19:47

Thanks guys DD1 chose the colour....she's never been a pink girl

Bianca _ I hope you get a chance to talk things over with dh, too.

I just saw Primeval mentioned. I've never seen it, but dd1 just informed me all her friends watch it and make fun of her because she isn't allowed She's never asked! It is ok for an 8yr old? Have I missed it tonight?

Thanks TMH for soil info. I will re-read and digest properly tomorrow.

BiancaCastafiore · 09/02/2008 19:51

Its about 1/2 way through Jas. it depends on the 8 year old, my dd (almost 7) would find it a bit scary but then she has a very active imagination and is easily scared. I'm sure by the time she's 8 she'd be OK to watch it though

tortoise · 09/02/2008 20:06

TMH They are meant to be back at 5.

Jas sometimes it is a little scary but no more than dr who! All mine like to watch it! Normally i try and get the girls to bed though.

DontDreamItBeIt · 09/02/2008 21:27

Thanks. I'll watch it wih her next time it is on. The dds are not easily scared and love Dr Who.

Bewilderbeast · 09/02/2008 21:51

evening all

haven't read the thread as DP is about to put a dvd on so I'm just popping in quick. Hope everyone is ok and having a good start to the weekend

done
went to ikea
gutted, cleaned, decluttered and reorganised 3 kitchen cupboards and the work surfaces.

Simply · 09/02/2008 22:14

Hello to all. I've just read the thread quickly and have forgotten most of it!

Trinity A YEAR old? Never! Where does time go to? Hark at me. Mine are both teenagers now. I have one going away for several nights this w/e and the other the same (but a different location) next w/e. I think it's training us as parents for when they are old enough to leave home.

EHM I hope your Dad is okay. I suppose passing on good wishes from a bunch of your internet friends would raise an eyebrow but positive vibes are coming your way for him.

luda Yes, it's been lovely here, hasn't it? We had a good tidy up outside. We've had some work done in the house and said we'd get rid of the outgoing stuff ourselves. Lots of it was able to be recycled, so that's good!

Hope all is ok with you BC. Sorry, I'm not on e-mail much these days. I'm either in work or cracking on with the house (not that you'd notice) or doing something with the kids. I have very little spare time for me it seems, though I have found a very good book recently. I'll e-mail you the details, actually. It's about communication in relationships and it's so true! It's also very easy to read and I'm enjoying it.

Right. I must go. My membership of the au pair website is running out soon and I'm trying to get in touch with a number of possible au pairs to start in Sept (after A has gone home) before it expires. Sorry I didn't get back to the thread I was on the other day. I'll search threads I'm on (it won't be hard - there is normally only one or two on it!) and I'll catch up with news of you all. Bye for now.

TheMadHouse · 10/02/2008 08:23

Good morning

Porridge is cooling and the morning routine is completed.

DH is in bed having a deserved lie in after all the digging he did yesterday.

It is a bautiful sunny day here, although there is a frost.

I am going to feed the boys and then plan the rst of the day.

BIL and SIL are OK after their shunt, car seems to be fine too
