Hello everyone, iWelcome back to our regulars, and if you are new or returning, a huge welcome to you as well! Please feel free to post or lurk, whatever helps you most.

This is an incredibly helpful thread and the system can be confusing but someone on here will be able to answer your questions and get you on track.

So, Flylady. That mysterious system that promises a lovely clean house! This link is a good place to read about the basic principles, but we strongly recommend ignoring the first bit - do not sign up for emails as you’ll be inundated!

www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

If you’re new to the system, or are wanting a refresher course, the baby steps may be a good idea. Some are more useful than others, we’ve found, and stuff like affirmations may not work for you, so pick and choose what you want to try. You don’t have to do it all! Perfectionism can be left at the door, we celebrate any achievement here no matter how small it seems (this is why you’ll see our Ta Da lists as well as To Do lists!).

www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/31-beginner-babysteps/

There are parts of the house called zones, each taking a different part of the month, and missions in those zones to do little tasks we may have neglected. If you don’t feel ready for those though, a good way to start is doing 15 minutes decluttering in that zone! Remember it didn’t get messy in a day so it won’t be fixed in a day either. Slow and steady.

Then there’s the daily focus - each day of the week has a theme, although many of us switch them around to suit our own lives.

Each day I’ll provide the link to the launch pad, which is where you can see what is meant to be done that day (but again don’t feel you have to do all of it! That way lies burnout!).

A couple of principles we talk about on here are:
Future Friend - the idea of doing something today that benefits you later, such as choosing your clothes or making your lunch the night before.
Power of Three (po3) - if you’re overwhelmed, just pick three easy tasks - no matter how small - and forget about the rest until they’re done. Then reassess and decide another three.

Finally a few acronyms:
DW - dishwasher, not dear wife!
LOL - load of laundry, we aren’t finding washing hilarious
WM - washing machine
TD - tumble dryer

Not having a great time here but I've started a new thread and we'll see how we get on. I may miss a few days as there's a lot of birthdays this month and time away.

WEDNESDAY:

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿anti procrastination day: do something you are putting off.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Zone #1 Mission #1 Wednesday
Dear Friends,
We are going to have a multi room mission today, it might take you longer than 15 minutes to do it, so set your timer for each room and FLY through it!
For the Front Porch, Entrance and Dining Room, put out the fires that are burning in your hot spots. Get rid of the pile of shoes by the front door, get rid of the pile of junk mail and put away the magazines and school papers that are piled on the dining room table.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 new monthly habit: get dressed cot your shoes. www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/march/

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 still have to declutter for 15 mins

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 still have to shine sink

Thanks Pompoms for running this month and next. A month of birthdays to jump into spring with sounds fun

UNP that's a great idea, boxes are much easier to dust than nik-knacks.

Ta-da's:

🌛Morning routine
🌜Went to buy some socks and picked up a few bits for the freezer at the same time
🌛Ventured into some other areas of Mumsnet while the kettle boiled and realised why I never usually bother! People arguing everywhere and being nasty to each other, what's the point?
🌜Decluttering
🌛Evening routine

See you all on the next thread

Thank you @icypompoms - if life gets in the way and you want someone to post links for a few days just say, one of us will step in. You are right about it taking more than 15 minutes for the Wed mission here <gulp>.

@UsernameNotPresent loving hearing about your new house, easy dusting sounds like a very good plan.

@Redsquirrel5 hope you feel better soon, my DD is similarly full of cold at the moment.

@HungryHazelEyes and @THATissoooFETCH , I do speak to Zoo sometimes, the Zoolets are keeping her very busy at the moment, thank you for asking after her.

Need to go to bed. Annoyingly I woke at 4 today, couldn’t get back to sleep, alarm went off at 7, I hit the snooze button and fell fast asleep till 10 to 8 and had to dash to get to work 🙄.

@GreenWillowAndFairyLights packing or selotape, sticky side out should help with clearing the glitter. Also works rather well on toy stuffing.
