Does any daily shower spray work in London /really hard water areas?

NNNNGGGGHHH fucking limescale spots.

If you're in London or another area with seriously hard water have you found a 'spray and go' product which actually works?

Don't come on to gloat if you are in a lovely gentle soft water area. Just read the OP, snigger to yourself and be on your way.

We live in London and use Method. Works very well.

RockinStroll · 15/07/2022 18:49

Were in London. Constant battle with limescale in the toilet etc. But we use a squeegee thing on screen after every shower and it does a great job.

Blankbias · 15/07/2022 18:49

We use Method too. It’s brilliant.

chiffchaffchiff · 15/07/2022 18:53

Viakal anti-limescale. You need to spray generously and quickly with a window open. When DH sold his flat before we lived together he had a shower screen foggy with limescale. He was so impressed by my cleaning efforts. I never told him it was just a spray, 15 minutes and wipe job (he was tackling the much greasier kitchen).

Cookerhood · 15/07/2022 18:55

I use either the supermarket own brand ones or method. Both work well & we have very hard water. We used to wipe down with a squeegee but spray is better.

FeinsteinA · 15/07/2022 18:58

The method one makes actual cleaning much easier.

DiDonk · 15/07/2022 19:11

If you've got a cellar or similar get a water softener, its like washing in a soap suds advert.

Thunderpunt · 15/07/2022 19:29

Use the shop own brand shower shine after every shower and works a treat. Keep on top of it with a once a week clean with Viakil or Tesco limescale remover. Daily shower shine worth the £1.50 or whatever it is definitely

WinterDeWinter · 16/07/2022 09:18

Hmm. I haven’t tried method but none of the own brand ones have worked to keep it clear -ish between weekly cleans.
I use a different shower and the kids forget to squeegee but will spray. …

Try washing the glass in car wash and wax, sounds completely mad but the wax repels the water so doesn't need cleaning as often. I use the limescale stuff on the shower fitting though as it builds up there.

evilharpy · 16/07/2022 09:23

We just dry it all off after a shower with a window vac. The limescale never builds up as the water doesn't get a chance to hang around. Our water is very hard (much worse than when we lived in London).

Viakal on the taps, shower hose/head etc.

sueelleker · 02/08/2022 19:52

I live in Brighton-very hard water. I use Kilrock gel for descaling, but they do sprays as well.

GOODCAT · 02/08/2022 19:54

We do the same as @evilharpy and use a window vac. It works really well.

HundredMilesAnHour · 02/08/2022 19:57

I use Method and a squeegee. Looks pretty good! Then Clorox and a pumice stone for the toilet.

You do you but no there's no way in hell I am going to be vacuuming my shower dry.
Do you do it naked, towelled, or after you've dressed?

Anyway, if you use Method (I do 3 squirts per panel i.e top middle bottom) you wouldn't need to. Game changer. And it smells divine.

NewYorkLassie · 02/08/2022 20:01

Another vote for Method and agree it smells great!

carefullycourageous · 02/08/2022 20:01

I wipe it over with a diluted vinegar solution.

RewildingAmbridge · 02/08/2022 20:03

Nothing without a squeegee, but method works with one

Musicaltheatremum · 02/08/2022 20:06

My husband wipes down the shower every day before he dries himself. Our shower is pristine. I never have to clean it. I've just had a shower just now and left it wet ....eek

Still naked, I wrap a towel round my hair. It takes maybe a minute to do the glass screen and three tiled sides, which is a lot longer than I'd spend trying to descale it if I let it build up. Only on the downstairs shower which has coloured tiles that show up the water marks after a single shower. Upstairs has matte white tiles and we squeegee the glass shower screen but just clean the tiles with viakal every few weeks as it doesn't show up the residue.

Our water is very hard, it laughs in the face of Method. When we removed the old toilet the limescale was blocking about 60% of it.

Deathraystare · 03/08/2022 11:20

@chiffchaffchiff

You are wicked! I hope you at least looked like you have done some hard work - wet patches on your top to look like you had built up a sweat. hair plastered on your face etc and a general look of exhaustion!!

The plumber who fitted my new bathroom gave me this Shower spray and I laughed. But he said he recommends this to all of his customers and everyone has been surprised how well it works.

It’s got “bits” in it and it smells of nothing so not as chic as Method.
Very hard water here and the shower screens have stayed looking like new.

Can't get that link to work?

No, it just brings up a link to co-op delivery!
