All right, I know what time it is already! I was asleep at 9 last night OK?

Seemed like a good idea to start todays thread

So we need Kelly's Mission (Which reminds me my porch is falling down and we need a replacement )

And Kelly's rather useful babysteps day 4 (And as always I'm running before I can walk )

Might get some sleep, see you all later

FGS have a look Here

The whole site is actually really useful for organising your home in general, but they do a good meal planner template to print off

ludaloo · 04/01/2008 12:00

This is really helpful too

Well I have a few ideas so far.

I am definately going to do Pasta with tomato sauce, mozzarella and Here

Just click on any chef...then go to the A-Z index....(right hand side at the top) go to "P" and then there is a step by step recipe you can print out.
From the same A-Z list I like the look of the Stir Fried Noodles too, so that's a definate also.

On the Netmums link there is a recipe for lasagna, which is far healthier than the one I normally do! That will be a definate too.

So I have three definates so far, which all seem reletively easy to do.
I really like the Baked Bean idea on the other thread too.

Oh yes and Toad in the Hole too...maybe not that healthy, but everyone loves it, (that recipe is on the netmums site too.. not trying to advertise a rival site...honest!)
Thought that would go nice with cheesy mash...or garlic mash.

BiancaCastafiore · 04/01/2008 12:22

I like the links Luda I could do with menu planning too - we're stuck in a rut with food these days.

I have managed to take down and carry outside our 8ft Christmas tree One less job for dh before we leave fro Wales this evening.

I've spent ages hoovering up pine needles and think I have finally won the battle and got most of them off the carpet.

Still need to pack away the cards from the hall and the lights we have in one window then normality will be restored

I think torts birthday is April 6th

Lazylou · 04/01/2008 12:25

Hi All!

Another very slow start this morning, courtesy of baby keeping my awake all night again!

You've all been busy this morning! I have done the washing (x2 loads) and have hung it up to dry, am just making a cup of tea before I go and tackle the bathroom. I have been promising myself I will sort it out all week, as we are having a whole new bathroom fitted, but as yet, it's still in a state and it's my least favourite job of them all!

I have allocated an hour to that chore, before I go and catch up with a couple of missions in the hallway. I don't have a dining room or any other parts of the zone this week, so an hour or so out there should have it all sorted.

I have to say that my limited amount of FLYing has had a really positive effect on DH and he is sooo much happier when he comes home from work now. Kind of makes me wonder why I didn't stick to it in the first place. He is even being helpful and doing little bits and pieces around the place. There is a possibility that I will return to work until April when I go on maternity leave and DH is totally panicked now as he thinks the house will be neglected. But I have assured him I will keep things nice and he seems a bit better about it.

So are most of you trying to do the healthy eating thing? This is only the second new year when the possibility of dieting, eating healthily or doing any exercise has not been part of my resolutions but that is only because of being pg. I thought about doing the menu planning thing, but we do our food shopping so sporadically that I could plan something and it doesn't actually happen. Good luck to all of you who are going to try it though!

Will pop back later when I have done my jobs

ludaloo · 04/01/2008 12:27

Plus, I've decided to devise 2 planners, so I can alternate.

need more recipes I think!

ludaloo · 04/01/2008 12:30

Macaroni Cheese

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/01/2008 12:40

hi everybody. please help me out. my only new year resolution is to try to be more organised re housework and I need your help. I have stopped working before xmas (6 months pg) and have 3 days all on my own when DD is in childcare. Still I am a bit lazy and disorganised and the house is often a bit of a tip.
I need a system and a routine.
thanks you all.

ludaloo · 04/01/2008 12:46

tort was just browsing through the food section and saw you had a copy of mellowma's menu planner...any chance you could mail it to me?
ludaloo at lycos . com (thanks...save me having to bring the thread up to AC and annoy Mellowma!)

Lazylou · 04/01/2008 12:51

Hi Pippi.

I am returning to this thread after working full time and being totally unable to keep up with the housework.

Everyone here is amazingly helpful and when you see others' lists appearing, it kind of motivates you to go and get things done.

My advice would be to start with the baby steps. Yes, it feels like it is taking forever, but I did a bit extra and did general tidying up (not cleaning!) to create the illusion that my house was nice and clean.

I have now begun to incorporate the missions into my routine (which is also still developing) but I would be useless if I didn't pop in here every so often for a bit of chat and a kick up the bum.

Check out the baby steps at the start of the thread, do them and see how you feel after. I bet you will be pleased with yourself and the good thing about them is that they don't take all day to achieve.

Welcome and good luck!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 04/01/2008 12:55

Welcome Pipp - look at the babysteps. Best place to start.

lazylou - glad this is helping.

Ludaloo - great links. I have bookmarked as I dont have time to look properly. I have a spreadsheet with about 40 meal ideas somewhere from last attempt at meal planning. Will see if I can I can find.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 04/01/2008 12:56

Btw, have done afternoon routine

FunkyGlassSlipper · 04/01/2008 12:56

And here is my afternoon routine in case anyone wants to copy:

? Afternoon routine

  1. Clear away lunch things
  2. Empty/reload dishwasher
  3. Hang out/collect washing
  4. Swish & swipe downstairs loo
  5. 15 minutes
  6. DRINK SOME WATER
  7. Kelly?s Mission
PippiCalzelunghe · 04/01/2008 12:58

thanks lazylou, I did see it and already made my mission for today which is: to take down the xmas tree and all decs and put them away. put laundry away and cook a nice dinner.
in fairness cleaner came oday so house is spotless at the moment so not much to do. problem is by sunday is going to be a tip as DH and I are messy and lazy. I know if I do a bit everyday with a routine plan we'll get to friday with a grown up house rather than a more studenty pig-sty.

Shannaratinger · 04/01/2008 13:32

Hi everyone

Luda thanks for the links, will read later look really useful though.
Pippi welcome. I find the 15min tidying/ cleaning & 15 min rest really helpful.
BBL

TheMadHouse · 04/01/2008 13:44

Afternoon all

Have done loads of ironing this AM, DH took the boys to MIL and I managed to get an hours ironing done and took all the too small clothes out of DS1 room and when DS2 is awake I will tranfer and do his.

There is 15 months between them and I think that some point later in the year they will need to share their clothes.

I also changed both their beds, so have the washer and dryer on again.

Just the outside lights to take down now

DontDreamItBeIt · 04/01/2008 13:55

I'm back.

Busy day today, so no mn time

Morning routine done, lunchtime done, afternoon started.
Not only have I lost Torts address (I know I had it) I haven't even go her email Can someone send me both between now and April please?

Welcome new FLYbabies. Hopefully I will be back later. I've go o go and stop ds from going to sleep now.

DontDreamItBeIt · 04/01/2008 13:57

TMH there is 15 months between the dds, and they have had periods of sharing clothes Now dd1s tase is so dfferent to dd2 that I can't hand much on any more

I *will take some pics of clothes for girls. They are still in the sack nex o the computer, taunting me with my laziness.

Shannaratinger · 04/01/2008 14:01

TMH you have inspired another new years resolution:
To dust off the iron, even if it's just 1 shirt for DP to wear to work, babysteps.

BiancaCastafiore · 04/01/2008 14:03

Hello, just cleared away the lunch things - quite a long way behind our usual timings this week, I had hoped to get back to a more school-like routine but it's njust not happening!

The house is looking pretty tidy. The spare room is still a disgrace so I may have a quick burst of activity in there soon before I pack for the weekend.

Welcome Pippi

Can't remember what else I was going to say

BiancaCastafiore · 04/01/2008 14:18

I have just emailed via Facebook those who asked me to re Torts birthday

Grouchy I've emailed you too

Now, make me go and get on with some proper jobs....please!

DontDreamItBeIt · 04/01/2008 14:34

I've taken those picures. I'll try anddo something with them later tonight.

ludaloo · 04/01/2008 14:40

Well I have just finished the ironing.
Have filed some recipes.
Resisted the temptation to go buy coke (not going to drink it any more...an addition to my resolution list) and had some fruit barley instead.

Better go and put it all away now before it gets crumpled back up.

BiancaCastafiore · 04/01/2008 14:46

I'm still hanging around.

Getting stressed about the weekend away It's the journey which does it - I hate, hate, hate the 3 hours stuck in a car. And these short visits are worst cos I never get to relax before I have to stress about the journey home again

I must go and find something to do to take my mind off it all....
