Good morning.

I have been up for what feels like hours with DS1 and it is white with frost outside - jack has certainly visited in N Yorkshire.

DS2 and DH are still in bed (DH did not get in till 3.30 - I hope he had a good night)

Dropped mum home yerterday, so need to visit today. The nurse is coming in to dress her wound.

plans for today

Collect DH car - 20 miles away
Possible walk out with the boys
Wrap pressies
ironing

Tort SO pleased re the table, be careful in the loft (remember my friend)

Jas Nice to see you my Fly mentor

GO nasty bug I hope you feel better soon. I can not believe re school DS1 is 3 in March and it feels like I only gave birth yesterday sometimes.

Bianca Hope you enjoyed your night out

Jen Hope you had a good birthday

Morning to FGS, EHM, Yadda, Yibbersh, Luda, Simply and anyone I may have missed

Everyone else, Hello

We had a great evening out. Had to leave quite early to get back for friends dc who was here for the evening. Ds, dd and friend had messed about for my poor dad who was babysitting. Dd was still awake when we got home just after 10pm and her friend had dozed off on the sofa - my dad was looking tired! Still, we had fun going out and it was great for our friends to be able to come - I must think of a thank you present for my dad.

I'm off to work in 30minutes so had better go and get showered and dressed.

Hope you all have a good Saturday x

...oh and Tort, be careful in the loft!

Morning All

Jack Frost has paid a visit to Mid Wales too....BBBrRRRRRRrr its freezing. The fire went out over night, so I need to remedy that.

Have shelves to paint today, and other bits and bobs.

Must have brekkie first though

ludalikeschristmas · 15/12/2007 08:36

yes...I'm very too EHM!

Oh and I have to go and get a card and a little something for my friend, who finally had her baby last night!!! 8 days overdue, she had a little boy (she now has 4 boys!!! [gulp]) She has named him Zacharia.... I am soooo excited and can't wait to go and have a cutch!

gibberish · 15/12/2007 09:56

Mornng all!

TMH thanks for the thread. Like the title

bianca good for you having a night out. Don't work too hard!

Morning EHM at the pampering. you lucky thing!

Aw congrats to your friend luda. 4 boys can't possibly be as hard as having 4 girls Actually would think it would be harder having 4 boys when they are young (more noise/boisterous??) but def easier to have teenage boys than teenage girls.

I HAVE MY NEW SUITE!!!!!!!!! Oh wow, oh wow! Fantastic! Absolutely HUGE and luxurious. Girls keep remarking on the smell (it's our first leather suite) but they'll get used to it. I love the smell of leather. Couch is so big I didn't think we were going to get it into the living room. Was almost crying. But finally got it in and dh says if we ever have to get it back out we will do it using a chainsaw

I did a good deed yesterday. Had a look out the window late last night and saw two oap's standing waiting for the bus. Was about 11.30. Freezing cold. Felt sorry for them. Waited until 11.45 and saw that they were still there, so got dressed (was in pjs) scurried across road and offered to drive them home. They were delighted. So I slept easy last night Ofcourse they could have been axe weilding murdering oap's but they looked harmless.

Oh, and our car has been scratched YET AGAIN by the SAME DAMN GIRL! Little b**c She keeps coming into our village and doing this to the cars. Had the police around again taking statements. She is in and out of court all the time but it means nothing to her. We are all going to petition for her to get an ASBO this time. Sick of it.

Gosh long post! Lazy day today. House is gleaming and washing up to date. Going to do 3 days worth of cooking and stick it in the freezer.

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 15/12/2007 10:15

Feeling a hell of a lot better today thanks. It did knock for 6 but hopefully it's beggared off now.

Got up late today (woah, a lie in...Yes!) Ed likes his new room layout and has been giving his bed cuddly friends away to us, inc Emile (sob). Bet he asks for them back by 5

FLY wise, I did most things yesterday so little to do today. There's some paperwork to file away and I suppose I should wrap some gifts.

Oh, I've got a job interview on Monday for one of the ETA jobs I applied for last month. Fingers crossed.

Have a good and not too chilly Saturday

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 11:46

Morning.
I have got loads done already this morning. Lots of cleaning, scrubbing, wiping, gap filling, sweeping, floor cleaning, etc!
Still lots to do so i had better get on with it in minute.

Hope to still have time to sort the presents out before DD's get home! I will post as pronised before going into the loft.

EHM Am kind of ! I really don't fancy underarm wax. ouch!
Bianca Glad you had a good evening out. Hope you have a good day at work.
TMH Great thread title!
Luda Congrats to your friend. Zach is a great name.
Gibberish new suite! How exciting. @ girl scratching your car again.
GO Glad you are feeling better and had a nice lay in.

Right! back to work i go! Kitchen will soon be sparkling!

gibberish · 15/12/2007 13:07

Ooh grouchy all the best for the interview on Monday.

Well done tort! You seem to be on a roll today! (Not too busy for game of Scrabble this evening perhaps??)

Have been out helping dd2 on her paper round. We timed ourselves to see how fast we could do it Got blisters from stupid boots though

Taking the girls out in a bit for a walk round Loch Lomond. Too nice to stay in and looks like temp is going to drop dramatically this weekend so will get some fresh air before it does. See you later!

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 13:36

Oooh scrabble later sounds good! I will need to put my feet up. Enjoy your walk.

Right, now if anyone is around I AM NOW GOING TO GO INTO THE LOFT!

I think its better to do the pressies now because most other jobs i can do while DC are here.

Freezer is defrosting at the moment too. Its a tall freezer and only had enough food in it to fill one freezer bag from Lidls! That bag is now outside the front door so it will hopefully stay frozen.

gibberish · 15/12/2007 13:46

Oh goody! Don't have a good book atm so scrabble will be just the ticket!

Have fun in the loft lol. We've decided not to go for a walk as dd2 isn't feeling very well - sore throat and very tired. If she's feeling a bit better later on we'll take them all bowling instead.

Tempted to nip out and buy myself a book from the charity shop in the next village...

Was reading a very good book - one of those 'can't put down' types. Until I got to the end and the last chapter was SO predictable and pathetic. Could have screamed! Very disappointing.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 13:50

I out safe and sound (just!).
I did nearly fall backwards while holding things in one hand and going down the ladder but managed to grap hold of a rung! lol! Well i didn't laugh at the time!

Now have huge pile of toys and bits to wrap. This may take a while. i didn't realise there was sooo much in there. But spread between 4 it won't be that much each.

gibberish · 15/12/2007 13:54

Well I've just boot-polished the leather suite What a varied life I lead.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 15:04

Well, thats pretty much everything wrapped!
I was flying through it all because i hadn't realised it was 2pm when i started so i had about an hour before DD's were due home.

They aren't here yet but i have managed to get everything back into the loft and all wrapping evidence put away too.
I didn't have time to post that i was going back into the loft though! Sorry!

Freezer is defrosting nicely! Just the thick bit at the top that doesn't want to shift.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 15:15

All that rushing around and they are still not home!

gibberish · 15/12/2007 15:28

Well you should sit down and enjoy the peace and quiet!

Just been out and bought three new thrillers lol.

Back to cooking. Have cooked a load of
bolognese and stuck it in the freezer. Off to make two chicken pies for the freezer now then prepare veg for tonight. Pork chops with rasberry topping with tonnes of veg yummmmmmmmmmm

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 15:33

No peace and quiet now! lol!
You have been busy making food. I am terrible at preparing dinners. No idea what we are having tonight.

gibberish · 15/12/2007 16:34

I can't cook every day (because of work etc) so tend to bulk cook and freeze. So at least we are all eating home cooked despite it being reheated.

Think I might stick the pies in the freezer uncooked though. Reheated pastry is a bit ugh. Chicken and apricot spicy pies - lovely!

Got dh peeling the veg for tonight's dinner though

You not doing much tonight then?

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 16:41

Its only me and the girls for tea so will probably be pasta and veg! Not much food in the house! Your pie sounds yummy.

Freezer is very nearly defrosted. Hope the food outside in the bag isn't.

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 15/12/2007 16:54

Thought I didn't have much to do...but I found something!

While sorting out paperwork to file I found the birthday card I was going to send to my Grandad (He's 82 tomorrow, only just recontacted him and Grandma again after 11 years...Very long story). Quick completion of card and round to postbox.

Thought afterwards I'd pop in and see a friend. Glad I did. She's a single mum with little, sporadic family support and she's quite ill atm. I did her washing up, sorted out laundry and brought her DH home to play with Ed, have tea here and maybe sleep over. She's been a good friend so I'm happy to help. I know what it's like to struggle on alone and be feeling shocking after last year. I don't want anyone I know and can help to every feel that isolated.

Front room full of toys and pre school boys ATM, which is nice. The place clears up easily TBH.

Oh I've also cleared the kitchen table and grotted out a couple of mucky kitchen corners, loaded and empted WM and sorted for drying. I have a couple of lightbulbs to change and kids to keep an eye on.

Back tomorrow x

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 17:39

Thats so good of you GO. Hope your friend is felling better soon.

I am feeling very and worried and confussed!

XP1 isn't sure he wants to repeat last years xmas arrangements(i have xmas eve and day until 3pm so that xp1 can take DS's to his family xmas bit) as he will miss xmas morning. he mentioned court from last year as if i had forgotton it! court said alternate xmas arrangements each year.
I said same as last year so DS's don't miss there family gathering in the afternoon and evening.

Now am really worried that he will decide to have xmas eve and day until 3pm.

I don't know whats best. xmas eve and morning or getting to spend the afternoon afgter 3 with them and boxing day.

Xmas eve we would miss out on our walk together to see lights and have take away. And how would i work xmas morning with DD's so that DS's don't miss out on them opening presents?

OMG! Its soooo hard.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 18:30

Freezer is now fully defrosted. Not a speck of ice in it!
All stayed frozen except the edge of a chicken thing so will defrost it and cook it up tomorrow.

I really need to tidy the front room! Will get to it later.

TheMincePiedMadHouse · 15/12/2007 19:44
