Hello to all. Sorry, I'd like to reply to posts properly but we were up early (went to Shrewsbury by train on a shopping trip) and so I need an early night esp as I need to try to relax before bed as I'm supposed to be trying out the bath, hot drink, no-doing-stuff-the-hour-before-bed thing in order to stop my continual nightmares. I'm seeing the doc again next week and I need to give his suggestions a proper trial before then.

I hope everyone who isn't 100% well feels better tomorrow and I'll see you then. Nos da.

Oh, Ruby I managed to buy some Christmas cards and a few presents today and I got all the addresses together for my cards recently so hopefully I'm not going to be as last minute this year! I do pay attention to this thread and the useful advice on it sometimes and it pays off! Thanks!

SlightlyMadStuffing · 10/11/2007 21:58

Right guys.....am about to set up an isketch room....but I will only be there fore about 20 minutes as I have to be up early as we are hoping to go to SILs if DD£ isn't any worse.

Simply · 11/11/2007 07:18

Bore da pawb. Good morning all.

Sorry SMS I was coming out of the bath and into bed for an early night at that time. And .... .... ... . it didn't work! On the plus side, my body (I suffer from poor circulation) was nice and warm from the bath which meant that dh didn't have to suffer my cold hands and feet last night for a change. But I still had a nightmare. Oh well. Ooops, and I forgot to cancel the 2nd alarm clock that I'd used yesterday so I was woken at 6.20am.

go I really can sympathise. I had two interviews, one about a year ago and one about 6 mths before that and I've not had the feedback from either (I got the 2nd one btw and am so glad I didn't get the 1st one as it would have been frying pan to fire). I know I should ask but a friend had an interview (for a different job) and was given the feedback in the wrong way and was rather upset by it. That is, he should have sat down with his boss (who wasn't on the interview board) and told "They said that some of your replies were too superficial and needed a fuller answer" instead of being given the sheet which said "X replied but couldn't provide a detailed answer despite additional probing and was soon out of his depth on questions". My dh actually was having a poor interview once due to nerves and the fire alarm went off. When they all came back into the room he'd relaxed sufficiently for the rest of the interview to go well and he got the job. Some years ago, dh went for interview but Y got it and now (about 7 yrs on) Y is working to him. Funny old world. The best thing about interviews is that you learn from them and that when you get a job you like, you don't have to do it again for a while.

Sorry that was so long! I'm going to have some tea and toast now so I'll see you later.

ludaloo · 11/11/2007 08:28

Bore da simply Sut dych chi?
I hope you can get your nightmares sorted out, it sounds very unpleasent. Its just awful when things aren't as they should be, if you are like me, you start dreading going to bed because you just know what it is going to be like (and lying awake staring at the clock is one thing but thinking you might have nightmares is another thing completely!)
Do you know, I used to have nightmares very often as a teenager, I used to find that if I thought about what it was that scared me (and previous images or dreams that scared me) just before I went to sleep, then It seemed to reduce the likeliness of me dreaming of them...I used to bring it all into my head, hold on to the thoughts and pictures, then blink open my eyes and get rid of them all. Then I could try to think of something else before I fell asleep. (sounds like a very teenagerish thing to do doesn't it but I still do it to this day and I truly find it helps! I am sure it has something to do with what is in your semi concious mind, and if you bring all those fears/anxieties to the concious mind, they are less likely to occur in a dream)

But you know...I'm not a pschycologist by any stretch of the imagination, so feel free to ignore my babbles!

Well dh has gone out for the day...travelling somewhere or another to pick up something for work (I clearly don't actually listen to him very well do I! )
Its raining, kids are actually quiet and happy, and I have lots of washing to do....and Ironing (have quite a pile saved up too! )

BiancaCastafiore · 11/11/2007 08:29

Morning all SMS* sorry, couldn't get back online last night. Something weird is going on with our phone lines at the moment so I suspect it's a problem with BT somewhere as we also missed a phone call last night (the phone never even rang!)... Let me know if you're playing again sometime

Simply POor you, nightmares are horrible. I hope the warm bath etc routine helps another time or that the doctor can offer some differnt methods of dealing with them x

Tort Glad you found your voice again

Grouchy Wise words from everyone about your interview - I'd echo them all. Be kind to yourself today

Gibberish, Neverenough Thank you

Dh has to work today so the kids and I are on our own. I'll take them along to Sunday Club and then play the rest of the day by ear. Ds has a party to go to this afternoon so dd and I might try to do some baking while we're on our own

I need to do some laundry and have a quick scoot round picking up and putting away but will try to avoid much else. We have a busy week ahead with a HUGE fundraising event at our house on Friday so I have loads to do once the kids are out of the way more in the week.

See you all later x

BiancaCastafiore · 11/11/2007 08:30

x posts, Hello Luda

ludaloo · 11/11/2007 08:45

Have a good day bianca

Your fund raising event sounds exciting....you are very good to host it!

I have had a quick scout around and on the whole the house isn't too bad. I might save the ironing for Eastenders, and get the bathroom and downstairs loo done this morning. If I can get all that done while the kids are tolerating each other and playing well, then it doesn't matter if I have to postpone the ironing to entertain them.

TheMadHouse · 11/11/2007 08:53

Morning all

we had a really nice day yesterday, just doing bits and bobs in a family way.

I have left DH in bed and I am going to take him a cuppa up in a moment.

I have the oven on for the chicken and then I think we will go for a windswept walk on the beech - or an adventure as DS1 calls it. makes a walk sound much more interesting.

GO I used to be a recruitment consultant in a a past life and often bad interviews are not the interviewees fault. Dont sweat it - the right job is out there

Simply nightmares are horrible been there after my 1st m/c used to dread bed

Luda Did you get a good nights sleep again??

Bianca What are you fundraising for???

Gibbersh what are you treasurer for?

waves to all I have missed

ludaloo · 11/11/2007 08:56

madhouse I did! Thanks for asking, and I even woke up without toothache today

(day 2 without a migraine..or an irritating aura...and counting! )

TheMadHouse · 11/11/2007 09:00

Oh and I forgot to add - my freind is home . I went to visit her yesterday. She is in a lot of pain, but the op was a sucess and she can walk and should heal over time. - yipee

It definatly makes you thankful for the small things. She is so lucky and I am so proud of her for coping.

BiancaCastafiore · 11/11/2007 09:11

Great news on your friend TMH
We'll be fundraising for Children in Need on Friday Fingers crossed for good weather please (or I'll have a total of about 30 kids in the house over the day!!)

Better get on - kids are dressed, we all just need breakfast and teeth cleaned.

Back later x

gibberish · 11/11/2007 09:20

TMH Treasurer and membership secretary for the art club. Around 100 members so quite involved... got a committee meeting this afternoon hence have been frantically trying to get the books and membership renewals up to date

Just dashing out. No FLYing for me today other than a quick tidy up. But house is looking fine. Be back on tonight no doubt.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone

NAB3littlemonkeys · 11/11/2007 09:25

I feel lousy, DS1 isn't well, DD is a bit fragile so I don't know whether to housework through it or just mooch around all day.

ludaloo · 11/11/2007 09:33

Madhouse That's great news! (And it is nice to get some of that )
Awww you sound like such a lovely support for her too. Big for you both

Well I have put away the washing piles from yesterday,
Tidied our bedroom....although I'm just going back up there with a duster..and to move the chest of drawers. Dh moved the bed the other day, and in the process knocked everything off the top of the drawers down the back of them, so I need to go and sort all that out.

DD2 is having a paddy about a banana she wants another one... (has had one of her own, and the rest of DD1's) I hate to say no to fruit...but I have a feeling she'll get half way through it and leave it somewhere (found an half eaten apple in the draw in her plastic kitchen...EEEWWWW!!)Bananas give her very wierd poos too! Also, she and DS have between them managed to eat their way through a whole bunch of grapes since shopping yesterday! I think she'll have to wait....
Oooooh she has turned into Jack Jack!! (from the incredibles) is lying under the table....

Hmmmmm....better see if I can distract her with a drink before she chokes on all that snot!!!

ludaloo · 11/11/2007 10:03

Snot fest and tantrums all sorted

Chest of drawers all dusted, polished and re organised...all the bits picked up and pushed back against the wall.
Also got distracted hoovering..hoovered behind the chest of drawers...then hoovered room...then hoovered the curtain tops and the cobwebs!

(Can you tell I'm putting off doing the bathroom and loo )

FieryGlassSlipper · 11/11/2007 10:27

quick dip in to say great news about your friend madhouse!!

dh gone to supermarket with DD1 so need to try and todiy a bit now

ludaloo · 11/11/2007 10:32

bianca I just happened to find this article..

Here

(sorry if I have offended in any way...please do feel free to tell me to mind my own, just thought it might have some useful links )

Grouchyoscar · 11/11/2007 10:49

Morning everyone

Many thanks for the pep talks about the feedback. I knew I'd done badly but the woman is a funny beggar anyway, has a very much a them and us attitude and she made it clear that I am one of the 'them' so how dare I even consider wanting to become one of the 'us' crowd. I'm usually the one prancing about after a few drinks LOL!

I've actually never tried Sangria...I've heard of it but never tried it...what is it?

Bathroom now done...loo is sparkling, bath is as good as I can get it (Its enamel and a pain in the butt to clean )
I have also done the last of the kitchen before we change zones (and I have a head start as its the bathroom next week..[swot emoticon] )

Simply · 11/11/2007 11:18

Hello again to all.

luda Good for you! You can say "Sut wyt ti?" to me if you like as we're friends so you can use the familiar (speaking to a child or friend) form rather than the formal form "Sut dych chi?" if you want. Funny story (well, it is to me) My aunt said that her cousin was rather familiar as she used "ti" to her rather than "chi". 1) They are cousins. 2) They have known each other for 60+ yrs! I told ds off for using "ti" whilst speaking to a teacher we saw in Morrisons the other day because you should use "chi" with someone like that, but to use it to a cousin who you know well, is ridiculous!

Thanks for all kind words re: nightmares. It's funny how it reflects something I've heard or seen in the day. luda I'll give your technique a go, thanks.

NAB Mooch around is my advice. I hope you feel better soon.

Right. Dh has taken dd to the Remembrance Service and the dog for a walk so I must crack on. The house is a tip because I was out all day yesterday. See you later!

Ooops. The PC was so slow doing the preview, I went off and did other things so this is about 45 mins old! Hello to any x-posters.

Hello again

We're back from Sunday Club.
Ds giggled through the two minutes silence so I was very and at him after all my explaining to him beforehand about how important is was going to be that he kept quiet!
I'm exhausted by the pair of them already today!

We've come home to a tip of a house so I'll have to do some FLYing today after-all or I'll drown under it all this week.

I need to~
~make beds
~pick up all clothes from floors
~pick up and put away all toys and books from bedrooms
~washing x2 or 3 loads (First load is in)
~put away pile of clean washing and towels from tumble drier
~s&s kitchen
~unload and reload dw
~put everything in correct place in living room (kids have had the sofa cushions off again )
~get kids to help tidy toys in play room (wishful thinking?)
~s&s cloakroom

Bit fed up tbh, not sure quite when the house got so messy as I do try to keep on top of it these days. Still, if I spend an hour or two now getting on with some jobs I'll have time to relax and feel better later in the afternoon.
I think I'm just having a grumpy day today!
See you all later x

ludaloo · 11/11/2007 11:58

Ooooh sangria sounds lovely!

Oh dear bianca but if its any consolation mine are beginning to get irritating too.

simply ooooh I see...is the spelling of "wyt" mutated or does is mean something different to "dych"? I think I have heard locals say "sut wyt ti"....it sounds like "should oit tee" ? is that the same phrase?
I'm slowly beginning to understand the sounds of welsh now, and can usually pronounce something welsh people can understand!!
Its so damned complicated though...all the mutations, and regional variations etc.

I have now messed the kitchen back up Decided to make a couple of lasagnas. One for supper and one for the freezer. Better go and it all tidy up.

ludaloo · 11/11/2007 13:13

Done downstairs loo
Tidied kitchen back up
Folded a few more piles of washing
Hoofed the kids outside, but then it rained!
Did a bit of washing up (d/w is full!)
Hoovered the stairs, bedrooms, bathroom, landing, hall, kitchen and loo.

Just got the living room to hoover, then Eastenders will on...and I can get through this humungous ironing pile.

I may be some time
