Can you recommend a really good brand of Bathtowel

Just that really. Any recommendations for a really good, luxurious towel that if washed and dried carefully will last for years? Is it worth spending more money or am I better off getting high street / supermarket towels. Looking at Christy but also heard Fox & Ivy at Tesco are fab and also Dunelm. Don't mind spending up to £50 for a bathsheet but no point doing that if a cheaper brand is better. Looking for plain white so they don't need to be particularly stylish. I know it's not the most scintillating topic but would love some personal recommendations. Thanks all!

M&S towels are really thick and great quality but take a long time to dry
Asda are thinner but last really well

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 30/03/2021 14:01

Always bought Christy towels, they are v good quality.

slidingdrawers · 30/03/2021 14:03

Dunelm. Had our sets for years, they wash well and are still thick and fluff up in the tumble drier, though mine are usually line dried.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 30/03/2021 14:06

I'm on this quest too

I had John Lewis ones for the longest time, they were fantastic. But when time came to replace them, despite the basic product being notionally the same, the quality wasn't anywhere near as good.

I recently went with White Company but have found they shed fluff like mad. I'm having to live with them for now, not least because they were expensive, but next time I'll look elsewhere.

I like christys. I always buy them here as half price www.justlinen.co.uk/justlinen/bedding-product.asp?d=6115-christy-refresh-white

I've just bought new towels from Sheridan that are very good. Nice and thick, very soft and they actual dry you off nicely which I've found new towels don't always!

Geamhradh · 30/03/2021 14:09

M&S luxury ones.

SomethingAboutNothing · 30/03/2021 14:14

I second dunelm, in the process of getting our bathroom redone at the mo and considered getting new towels but I have no need to, my dunelm ones are still in perfect condition 10 years on and still lovely and fluffy.

RoseZinfandel · 30/03/2021 14:27

We have 2 Christy towels that have lasted 19 years, bought in the same shop at the same time.

One still looks like new, thick and fluffy, but the other is a bit tatty and threadbare-looking.

I don't understand it. Only difference is the colour (neither of them are white though).

Other towels are M&S and I have been very happy with the quality - they are only about 8 years old though.

anothernewone · 30/03/2021 14:37

I have jasper conran ones that have stayed thick and fluffy for years.
They were from Debenham though so not sure where they would be available now.

Tielle

BHS Ultra here every time. They are still selling online. I have had Christy, M&S etc and I don’t think they compare to the bhs ultra.

bluebluezoo · 30/03/2021 17:58

I have tried every towel out there. I have tesco, john lewis, christy, and ones which cost me £40 a towel.

The best? Next. Don’t go cardboardy in the wash, don’t need softener, i just wash with non bio and line dry. Colours stay strong, and so far they’re wearing well, despite being everybody’s “favourite” so being washed three times as often as our other towels.

Going to bin all my old cardboard thinning towels and replace with Next ones as soon as I can afford.

dianec401 · 30/03/2021 18:41

Thank you all for taking the time to respond - great to get the personal recommendations and that's given me lots to think about.

Christy are very good. I've just bought some Heals Spa towels and am absolutely delighted with them.

HopeClearwater · 31/03/2021 23:13

Surprised about the Next recommendation. I have some striped ones from maybe four years ago and they are raggedy and shedding.

HopeClearwater · 31/03/2021 23:14

Might be the hard water that’s done for them...

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 31/03/2021 23:17

I have some from Dusk , which are soft and fluffy, haven’t gone crusty in the wash at all. DP bought them for my new bathroom, having researched best towels and chosen these ones based on quality and price.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 31/03/2021 23:18

And I have very hard water

TaraR2020 · 01/04/2021 00:20

I don't rate M&S towels at all.

I bought some in 2016, by 2019 they were ripping, fraying and had holes.

Just me using them for the duration, they'd been well cared for. Hadn't done anything weird with me or even taken them to the beach.

OysterMonkey · 01/04/2021 00:32

I do rate M&S, these ones, lovely and thick and soft:

CoffeeBeansGalore · 01/04/2021 00:37

I find Asda ones are good, better than Tesco. Thick & fluffy, wash well.

TaraR2020 · 01/04/2021 00:38

@OysterMonkey those are the ones I bought.

OysterMonkey · 01/04/2021 00:42

How strange @TaraR2020.
I’ve got two sets that I also rotate with a different set. But the M&S x2 ones are still looking as good as new after about two years.

TaraR2020 · 01/04/2021 00:45

I was pretty surprised tbh, I've never known towels to do this and have some that are older than me! I cut the m&s ones down and turned them into flannels and cleaning cloths instead, but I won't be buying from them again.

My mum and granny always swore by m&s quality and I feel most let down lol
