We have one like this (though less clean!). Would it be ok in the dishwasher??

I put mine in the dishwasher 🙈 they look exactly like that.

tywysoges · 26/10/2020 12:12

This is what my user manual says.

Mine are the same and go in the dishwasher, but they come out looking a little flat grey and not so shiny chrome at first. Soon go the right colour though, so don't be alarmed.

Mrsjayy · 26/10/2020 12:23

Yes mine go in, I rinse mine first and they come out great.

Appuskidu · 26/10/2020 12:37

Every two months-eek! I dread to think how long we’ve had that cooker hood Grin.

Do you just slot them in the bottom bit where the plates go?

OP posts:
wowfudge · 26/10/2020 12:38

The manual for ours says not to put them in the dishwasher. Soak with biological washing powder in warm water then rinse. It removes the grease effectively.

Mrsjayy · 26/10/2020 12:39

Yes just in the plate bit make sure the arm doesn't hit it . I was ashamed when I first did mine i do them more often now.

StealthPolarBear · 26/10/2020 12:39

Mine do.

FourDecades · 26/10/2020 12:42

O...M...G...

What a revelation!! Going to put mine in the dishwasher right now!!!

Flamingolingo · 26/10/2020 12:44

Ours (Neff) says they can go in the DW, but that it might alter the appearance

MJMG2015 · 26/10/2020 12:46

It's probably wish to check your own user manual, they're not all made from the same materials & you may end up needing to replace them.

MJMG2015 · 26/10/2020 12:46

Wise. Not wish. Bloody phone.

pincertoe · 26/10/2020 13:04

Ours look like that and we recently put ours in the dishwasher and it came out looking great. We have lived here nearly four years and it was the first time we tried it - we have attempted to clean by hand though.

FinallyFluid · 26/10/2020 13:08

I put mine in about six months ago, I am cautious by nature so Googled the replacement price just in case.

Roughly £10

No need though, they came out really well.

zighead · 26/10/2020 14:24

OMG, I honestly didn't realise they came off. Just put mine in the dishwasher too. Only had them 14 years Blush

Mine are in the dishwasher as we speak-I think they are of a similar age to yours Blush!

I just wanted to say mine doesn’t go in every two months Grin (I have also only just found out I should replace the charcoal filter every 4 months LOL)

Figgygal · 26/10/2020 15:19

I did it today
We’ve lived here 4 years (the shame)

Appuskidu · 26/10/2020 15:33

Well, they are out. No harm done, so they don’t need replacing but I wouldn’t say they were sparkling. They feel slightly sticky still!

Am I doing something wrong or were they just a bit too grubby to start with Grin. They had a long cycle with decent dishwasher tablets!

OP posts:
notanotheronepleasee · 26/10/2020 15:43

Mine never come out sparkling and I do them often. I think they are better if you soak them first. Depends on how much build up is on them.

NastyBlouse · 26/10/2020 15:46

I do the bio powder thing as per @wowfudge as putting mine in the dishwasher is verboten

wowfudge · 26/10/2020 15:46

If they're aluminium they won't come up like stainless steel will.

DramaAlpaca · 26/10/2020 15:49

Mine look exactly like yours OP. I scrub them with a bit of washing up liquid first then put them in the dishwasher. They don't come out sticky that way.

fallfallfall · 26/10/2020 15:53

@AppuskiduToo grubby repeat weekly for a bit.

The charcoal what now?!
