We have one like this (though less clean!). Would it be ok in the dishwasher??

I soak mine in soda crystals which is a pain in the neck as whole thing won’t fit in the sink. Dishwasher sounds the ticket!

@JaniceBattersby I know, I didn’t even know it existed until I read that bit of the manual about sticking it in the dishwasher! 🙈 it’s in the image I posted above, right before the red square I drew on it.

Yes I always wash mine in the dishwasher.

Charcoal filters are generally used in circulating cooker hoods only, to reduce smells. If your cooker hood extracts outside, there won't be any. I soak the metal filters in a plastic under bed box - it's wide and deep enough for the job.

@Appuskidu

Well, they are out. No harm done, so they don’t need replacing but I wouldn’t say they were sparkling. They feel slightly sticky still!

Am I doing something wrong or were they just a bit too grubby to start with Grin. They had a long cycle with decent dishwasher tablets!

Mine are still sticky too! Unsurprisingly one wash after 14 years is not enough Grin

Cillit Bang liquid sprayed and scrubbed through with a long-handled brush then straight into the dishwasher. At the side or back to avoid blocking the spray arms. Pain free solution to a nasty job.

Don’t use washing up liquid as it might cause a foam incident!

Did mine last night. Like new. My new fave life hack.

If their aluminium eventually the mesh breaks up (ask me how I know 😀) but replacement ones are cheap on eBay.
