Good morning Fledglings! Hope everyone is doing ok?
I started writing this early this morning but have been interrupted so many times since that it's probably already out-of-date!
Everyone has certainly been impressively busy and made the most of the 1st day of the month. I am cross with myself because I did no Flying at all after work and just slumped and ate half a bar of chocolate on what was supposed to be my first dieting day. Really pathetic given my current barrage balloon shape
.
Lane I am really sorry to hear your dd1 is struggling, bless her.
Givemeacall and Bower I am so sorry about your siblings
. It is lovely that you talk about them and they are remembered.
Really beautiful photos of flowers Lane!
And a really gorgeous cat Expletive! What amazing colouring and eyes!
Agree there is nothing better than spring flowers peaking up through the soil to lend an air of cheer!
Expletive it is very good of you to donate the blankets, especially when you have put so much work and effort (and wool!) in to them. I'm sure they are hugely appreciated. And yes, as Zoo says, your cat really knows how to photo bomb
Zoo I hear you, things are sliding a bit here too! (Well I am still doing extended morning baby steps because they're automatic but that's about it.) I really have to become more structured. It's partly because dh doesn't let me know which days I'm needed because he doesn't know, because his work flow is so erratic atm. And partly because CBA! I started off really well, but let everything go a bit last week.
for second wind achievements and glad the crocheting is still proving therapeutic! Whey hey to comforting dumplings!
KTCluck :
Best plants for windy terrace.
Nine plants for windy gardens. Obviously, hawthorn not really suitable for a plot and don't know if eryngiums need to be in a border, not a pot, but my late ma had great success with them in her windy/coastal garden.
As for roses, you need to know whether they are shrub, standard, climbers, ramblers, floribundas etc as you prune them to type. This is a very simple guide.. This RHS guide to pruning roses might help.
Good luck!
That is such a shame about your friend's wedding and the Portugal trip. All these plans so painstakingly made and anticipated happily, having to be cancelled. Very hard indeed.
Giveme/KTCluck Great lists both of you!
. I had the same dilemma with on-line shopping. Wasn't sure what was for the best? I did order a close family member (child) in UK a birthday present via Amazon yesterday but felt guilty doing that. I had a very nice chat with our post-lady today (really nice person) and she said - over here anyway - they would appreciate it if we only ordered essentials for office as they were struggling with so many personnel off work. So I guess that's my answer. And we are supposed to be economising anyway atm because of the business/uncertainty.
Fluffiest your garden sounds lovely! I hope you are feeling much better today. Bad period pain while chasing a 4 yr old is no fun at all
Good luck with making it through today! And congrats to your friend and her new baby
!
We3kings thank you very much for recipe! None of us are milk drinkers but I am going to try it with chicken stock! Now I know I can use potato peelings I won't want to waste them!
Bower I love wood anenomes and celandine! Boy do I need to get rid of clothes too. I must have about ten pairs of navy trousers "hanging around" until I fit in to them ... .
Happy hoovering Lisette (if that is not a tautology).
Willow that is so very sad about the on-line funeral
. Really hard for your friend and her family. I hope the bubble bath was comforting
Chic I'm sorry about your bio dad.
It is very difficult to get teens to come out on walks isn't it? DD replaces me and takes second dog out sometimes but she prefers to run on her own.
Great list Cineraria! Glad the links helpful. That is so lovely about your baby brother arriving at Christmas! I am very envious of you having close family in Madrid. It is one of my all-time favourite cities in Europe and a hidden gem I think. Everyone goes to Barcelona on holiday - and it is fab - but once you get to know Madrid really well (not just the touristy bits) it is seriously impressive and estupendo!!
Hello Strawberrycreamsundae what a lovely post! Don't hesitate to "unlurk" more frequently!

Not much to report at this end. Dh is working all hours. Hardly see or speak to him tbh. So no change there
!
DD seems happy enough and is even doing some school work and exercise! We are watching one episode of "Unacknowledged" together on Netflix per day and working our way through a large jigsaw. And we eat one meal around the table in the evening when dh is able to join us.
Over the next few days we are going to be "setting a scene" in our front window in which a teddy bear will feature
. (It's a local on-line initiative for children who are going on walks with their families, they spot and count the bears as they go on daily walks, just to make lockdown a bit more interesting.)
Days are more or less working out as follows give or take several tasks depending on whether I have "proper" work to do or not:
Slightly extended Flying morning routine which includes shining sink, kitchen surfaces, dw, s&s, dog bowls, Dettol daubing, bannisters and downstairs cloak room, two loads laundry start to finish etc etc
Declutter one box a day in the home office.
One session of Leslie Sansome on You Tube.
One dog walk.
One 20 min "puppy" training session on lawn.
One 30 min gardening session.
Clear one area in boudoir of doom, usually about 40 mins.
One 20 min session of paper shredding.
Two e-mails to friends per day.
Two or three phone calls to family and friends per day.
Two episodes of Scott and Bailey in bed at night
Baking and bread machine three times a week.
Haven't started on the proper clothes decluttering yet (as I find that v stressful as tied up with weight) but I do need to introduce that at some point.
It's all a bit samey but it is not exactly hardship.
Mahoosive waves to one and all
! Take care and keep safe!
