Clean enough to be healthy, dirty/untidy enough to be a home!

Taichipandas · 22/07/2019 16:26

Pinnacular I know it's awful but swallow your pride and get the cleaner in now. You have a legitimate excuse if you are ill so no need to feel badly! I have experience of this and trust me it will only get worse the more you delay. A good cleaner will understand and help you to break the cycle! The best way to find one is through personal recommendations so put a call out on Facebook or similar. Good luck!

My house is always CLEAN but only tidy 8PM-7AM 🤣 which is pretty pointless but I don't like getting up to mess x

daisyboocantoo · 22/07/2019 16:50

@donutrehomer mine is the same. I often won't let people in. It makes my heart sink, to be honest. I have four kids and am a SAHM. Always running around and making memories. End of the day I am exhausted. Plus am studying.

I go back to work next month and will be spending half of my salary on having a cleaner come in four hours a day but I feel I need it for my sanity.

There is a difference between a tidy house and a clean house. We try to keep a clean house underneath the untidyness, but it isn't easy. We both like a 'lived in' appearance, and tend to have a bit of a blitz now and again.

donutrehomer · 22/07/2019 17:10

We are a household of six adults working full time.

It's the constant "high tide" of shoes in the living room that really hacks me off.

Im like a hamster on a wheel trying to cope. Im like that meme where the hamster is on the wheel, loses his grip and just spins around. That's my life....

ElstreeViaduct · 22/07/2019 17:32

Pinnacular honestly I think Taichipandas is spot on. Neither of you deserve to live like this. You don't have to book them to do the whole house either. Maybe kitchen, bathroom and living room, and clear the clutter from the surfaces by just bringing it all in a cardboard box if the tidying is a barrier.

CremeEggThief · 26/07/2019 11:29

Extremely tidy, as I'm obsessed with order, but only surface clean. I haven't done my inside windows or oven since last Autumn, kitchen cupboards for about 18 months and properly cleaned the fridge since Easter, for example.

Single parent with a teenage DS, recently gone back to work full-time with up to 3 hours travel time each day.

Sunnydays999 · 27/07/2019 19:42

Tidy ish cleanish , but I work part time have kids and hobbies

Candymay · 28/07/2019 09:32

There must be cleaners who would also tidy? I’m in the same position- too cluttered to get a cleaner.
I’m guessing that would be more of a housekeeper type job. I need an organiser/ cleaner/ cat sitter!
