Does anyone fancy a tidying buddy? Or in fact a virtual decluttering buddy? I need to do some major decluttering and tidying... I wonder if anyone would like to join me in this and we could cheer each other on!!!?

Hello and please can I join you?

At the moment I am restricted to a little and when I can decluttering routine, but this will change shortly and I will have more time.

I love the idea of a decluttering notebook and I am going to treat myself tomorrow and make a serious list of all my priority areas.

Does anyone else want to hand hold and declutter a work / hobby room?

petal2019 · 26/06/2019 21:38

just seen your post beherenow. That sounds amazing... and getting rid of something quite new! That takes guts! I sometimes think I have attachment problems!!!

I've actually decided not to go to bed but to try and get everywhere tidy so I am ahead of the game in the morning and just have to start decluttering before work. So general tidy starting now.

Hi all. I’m currently training to be a KonMari consultant. I’d be happy to offer a couple of skype sessions? Drop me a DM if interested please - virtual tidying lessons are something that I haven’t really offered yet but want to try out.

Im in.

Short but sweet.

Chottie · 27/06/2019 05:50

@petal

I've been doing a bit of random sorting out in my craft room, but I really need to sort it out. I have lots of wool (knitting and crochet), fabrics (for patchwork and quilting) and books.

The books are all on shelves, but my work table which has a sewing machine on, is a mess. I've decided to start with wool and knitting and crochet stuff. I will do 15 minutes today and tomorrow and see how this goes.

petal2019 · 27/06/2019 07:08

Sisyphus or what! @DDIJ I really relate to what you were saying about it being such an uphill task. I feel every day I am back at the beginning again. I did manage to get the kitchen tidy last night, so today Im not faced with that at least but nevertheless everything else is constanty messy anew each morning. I wonder if it needs a whole change in behaviour from family to tidy the night before so I can make progress! Would be a good habit to instill! Good luck with that I hear you say!

Does anyone have “Queen of Clean” on Instagram? She suggests decluttering a small area every Thursday. Then after time it will be more manageable.
I was trying the Organised Mum Method of cleaning for 30 mins each day (change rooms daily), but struggling with baby tbh. I think it is something that may help keep on top of the daily cleaning though. You can google her cleaning plan.

I’m definitely hoping to do kitchen today though.

Good luck!

petal2019 · 28/06/2019 05:35

Ok fellow declutterers.... im rolling up my sleeves to get back to pushing that stone up the hill....
5.35 and tidying the kitchen!

Placemarking for later! I need this thread.

BeHereNowx32 · 28/06/2019 05:53

I managed to do some of the kitchen yesterday (most of my time at the end of the day was a run around of general cleaning and tidying though). I cleared things off the worktops so there’s less on them. Threw away a dying plant, put away things lying at the back door. Today I’ll try clear and tidy the cupboards. I can only do small bits each day.

@petal2019 well done starting this early!! I’m feeding baby 😊

petal2019 · 28/06/2019 05:54

That went faster than I thought... not sure what has changed...except didn't cook yesterday!
5.54 Now the bathroom

Hello! I’ve been on a decluttering mission this year, not constantly but sessions here and there. I love it, I love actually having bare space in drawers and on shelves. I fold all our clothes the Kondo way and before I tried it I didn’t understand the benefit but as soon as I did it realised it’s so much better! Way more space in the drawers somehow.

Anyway, areas I have to do/redo:
Bathroom - ideally clear very cluttered windowsill and get everything into the under sink and medicine cabinet.

Our room - underwear, everything else done, woohoo!

Office - has a loads of ‘stuff to get rid of’ piles, so I need to actually get rid.

Living room - pile of papers and craft stuff on the side table, that’s all!!

Kitchen - done

Playroom - done as much as poss just needs to be kept tidy 😄 yeah right!

Dining room - need to go through sideboard and organise

Under stairs cupboard - re-organise. Most of stuff is seasonal so at the mo winter hats etc cluttering up the place.

Utility needs another quick organise after previous big declutter.

We’ve recently almost decided we’re only having 2 kids (we already have 2) so tentatively and reluctantly getting rid of baby stuff - selling good stuff on Facebook and eBay... and going to put the money towards a climbing frame!!! So that makes it all feel a bit more positive 😃

petal2019 · 28/06/2019 07:39

ok...back to square one with the sitting room at 7.37.... rock now at top of the hill. Need to find a wedge to keep it there for more than 24 hours! NOW ....am putting all my saleable stuff onto a homemade webpage to make it easier to show.... is this madness? Shall I just chuck I wonder. I will see how slow the whole process is!
dedicate 30 mins to it now and see.

@BeHereNowx32 I so appreciate what you are saying!! it is hard to actually get to doing the declutter... but congrats on your kitchen work.... I think it just has to be done in small bits don't you think. right... onwards and upwards! x

@BeHereNowx32 Im trying to do a small amount every day... but that sounds a good idea... I shall try and find queen of clean. why is housework not recognised as real work?

BeHereNowx32 · 28/06/2019 09:16

@BendydickCuminsnatch that’s a good idea to break it all down. I love a list!

Just sorted out a wee food cupboard. Could probably do with some baskets to make it look more organised, but everything is now in little categories and got rid of a few things there too! Took 5 mins. So will do the cupboard with tubs etc later

petal2019 · 28/06/2019 09:32

wow you are on a roll! I m working now.... in between looking at emails!!

I'd like to join please 😀 We're just about finished a large extension so my focus is going to be more about organising where everything will go and finishing the decorating jobs. Having said that, my first task will be to tidy up my bedroom. I accidentally pulled a load of shoeboxes and handbags down off a shelf a few weeks ago and stuffed them into a corner as a temporary measure...

We moved into the house 3 years ago and have boxes in weird places just because there was no room.

BeHereNowx32 · 28/06/2019 10:13

@9Greenbottles that will be something to look forward to when it’s all finished!

Baby sleeping.... trying to decide if I should have a quick look at that cupboard...
