I am a hoarder. My house was disgusting and I stopped letting visitors in.
It was so hard to start and it took days to make the first step.. I am so glad I did!! I am sitting here in 1 tidy clutter free room and it feels amazing.
I would like to start an inspirational thread for others facing the same mountain.

Well done.
It sounds like you were what I am now.
What made you get started?

Disfordarkchocolate · 28/02/2019 11:01

You are amazing, well done on finding the strength to do this.

Giraffetower · 28/02/2019 12:50

Well done!

Having a home to be proud of, rather than a house clutter-filled burden must feel sooo good!! Flowers

LocksMyth · 28/02/2019 20:59

mikeuniformmike I guess I got the motivation to start from being sick of living like this and the harsh reality that the only person who can change it is myself. It has taken so so long to just start and stop making excuses and justifying it all in my own head and just do it.
Once I started it was OK, a bit traumatic, but OK and now I can see the results I won't ever go backwards to how it was. If nothing else, my daughter deserves this.
It's like any lifestyle change be it, smoking, alcohol, weight loss etc.. It's finding the determination to just do it. I can't describe just how much it is worth it!

Thank you for the reply LockSmyth. I think I need to pull myself together. Well done!

notacooldad · 01/03/2019 12:34

You e done really well!
My Mil was a hoarder and it made things difficult. Walking from the living room to the kitchen was such a challenge and you could never find a clean tea cup. There was no where to sit because if all the stuff she had.
Hopefully your big clear out will make a big difference to your life.
May I suggest a small tip, maybe diary in a date, could be once a month, six weeks, whatever, to have a mini clear out to keep on top of things just to stop things sliding.

SandAndSea · 01/03/2019 17:56

Oh well done, OP! Good luck for the weekend too! Star

LocksMyth · 01/03/2019 18:30

A great thread to read. You’ve inspired me to get off my backside and go clear up!

MikeUniformMike · 04/03/2019 19:28

I've not made much progress.

LocksMyth · 04/03/2019 19:40

mike Neither have I. Hence the radio silence on here to be honest.
Let's not slip backwards though as I just can't face the thought of failing at this again.
Hang in there with me, we've both started and we owe it to ourselves to keep going.

LocksMyth · 04/03/2019 19:48

Let's pick something small.
I am going to put the basket of clean laundry away tomorrow...there's a mountain of it. It will be good to clear it.
How about you?

OP posts:
SlangBack · 04/03/2019 19:58

It doesnt matter that you had a few days break, most of us do & need to rest.

Its the new mindset that is important, you are doing great Flowers

LocksMyth · 04/03/2019 20:26

Thanks slangback

OP posts:
MikeUniformMike · 06/03/2019 17:23

Cleaned the bathroom and half or maybe a third of the kitchen.
Will declutter inside the kitchen cupboards next, as that's the bit I've not done.

LocksMyth · 06/03/2019 23:04

Wow, mike that's pretty cool!

Well done, thanks for the update.
