What's the worst thing you ever spilled?

Just spilled a huge bottle of calamine lotion over everything. It tippled and toppled and fell and bounced and fell again.
There's calamine lotion over me, the tiles, the ceiling, cooker, worktops, floor, and worst of all my lovely red velvety big armchair.

was it in a field in the Costwolds?

Liquid glucose (as recommended by Delia for chocolate truffle cake). Think golden syrup but a hundred times worse.

compo · 21/06/2007 12:27

A friedn of mine spilled a glass of red wine on a cream lounge carpet at a very posh party once. I felt so sorry for her.

joash · 21/06/2007 12:27

ONe spilled red hot tea all over a woman whilst serving her at a wedding - she was brilliant about it - I was mortified

LucyJones · 21/06/2007 12:28

At my wedding the waiter spilled a chocolate mousse down my SIL's cream top. He said 'in the 25 years of service that's never happened to me before' - fgs, we didn't care howmany times it hadn't happened before it had happened now, at my wedding!!

nearlythere · 21/06/2007 12:29

dropped a glass of red wine on brand new light blue carpet the day we moved into our house! thankfully it was scotchguarded- dh would have divorced me on the spot otherwise!

MegaLegs · 21/06/2007 12:31

A chicken tikka masala all down the stairs of our flat in London on the only one month old carpet!! The delivery guy had spilt it in the car and the bottom of the paper bag fell out as I carried it up the stairs - it scalded my ankle too. The manager of the take away paid for a carpet cleaner to come ( we were loyal regulars ) but the stain remained as did the smell.

I spilled my insides all over our lovely new beige lounge carpet! My waters broke at home - I had to leave for hospital and my darling sister got the great job of cleaning it up

TheArmadillo · 21/06/2007 12:56

not me but ds found a bottle of something called friars basalm (it is brown, sticky horrible stuff) and poured it over himself, my clothes (have never got the stains out), the carpet and the cat.

ambercat · 21/06/2007 12:58

I,ve done the gloss paint down the stais aswell!!

OrmIrian · 21/06/2007 13:00

A brand new bottle of whisky that DH had for christmas - all over our leather sofa. Followed within 24 hours by a forgotten bottle of Amarige that DS#2 found tucked away at the back of the book shelf in the sitting room and proceded to drop on the tiled hearth. Not a nice combination really.... gave everyone a headache for weeks

damewashalot · 21/06/2007 13:02

Dropped a bottle of calpol on carpet once, took months to get rid of, I'd scrub it and it would look clean then slowly it would get dirty looking again, as if it was still sticky down in the pile. Tried everything I could think of and ended up using a carpet cleaner and going over that bit about 20 times and making it really soggy with the cleaning stuff to get it out. Won't be doing that again

BettySpaghetti · 21/06/2007 13:02

The contents of a full pepper grinder into our dinner -the mechanism at the bottom broke so we also had bits of metal in it.

NormaSnorks · 21/06/2007 13:05

northstar · 21/06/2007 13:06

OrmIrian talking about "giving everyone a headache" reminds me of another spillage - I went into the toilets of a trendy bar in Oxford years ago and someone had dropped and spilled a bottle of Poppers in the cubicle.

I didn't realise what it was at first but I thought my head was going to explode by the time I'd had my wee

electrongirl · 21/06/2007 13:52

A full bottle of soy sauce onto the carpet of our student bedsit. The stain was huge! We used a bout 3 bottles of 1001 but it only got a tiny bit fainter.

had to put a pile of stinky washing over it every time the warden came round to check the flat! Oh to be a student........

IntergalacticWalrus · 21/06/2007 13:57

DP dropped a bottle of TCP in the sitting room of our old flat. You can never get rid of the smell of TCP. It has a radioactive half life of 1000 years.

We could still smell it when we moved out nearly 2 years later

DrNortherner · 21/06/2007 13:59

A tin of white gloss paint on red stair carpet in a rented house!

NannyL · 21/06/2007 17:54

While waitressing at a wedding

(a VERY expensive wedding, of the sister of a well known celebrity) they had and extreamly nice bottle of super expensive champagne for the bridal party and close relations (the rest(200+)of the guest had Very expensive champagne as well but this was like the best)

as i was serving it (i had served bride, groom and mother of the bride) someone bumped me and i spilt the whole tray of champagne all over the floor...

and the rest of the bridel party had to have the same champagne as the rest of the guests.

I was VERY
