Building our bonfires with clutter, and cruising towards Christmas, it's the NOVEMBER fledgling Fly thread!

Many of us have been here forever; it's the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are hugely welcome!

We will be posting the baby-step and flight plan (which will point you towards the current zone and missions) on a daily basis, but don't hesitate to ask further questions about the system if you have any!

More information on getting started available here (containing baby-steps!).

And borrowing heavily (again!) from Hill's September introduction...

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't sound you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows:

** launch pad (general info)

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home)

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends)

** [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/zones/
info about zones]] (explanation of how zones work)

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself)

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task)

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!)

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Waves to everyone.
About to get up and tackle jobs. I was going to get up at 7 but then decided not to as I have a very busy week ahead so rest first then early nights and early morning get ups for rest of the week.

Very worried about Cags I checked back and she hasn’t posted on here since the 16 th November and was feeling quite unwell on the last post. I hope she is alright.

Cags we miss you and hope you are getting better.💐 hope to hear from you soon. Just a quick wave till you feel better. I am wondering if you ended up in hospital.

Staringcoat · 25/11/2018 09:37

Good morning all!

Yes Cags if you are lurking then hope you are ok (the force of the fledglings is with you). Equally, if you need a break from social media etc then totally understood and look forward to "seeing" you as and when. Xxx

Foxes hope your ds ok and that you have a puke-free Sunday

Bower hope you can get a bit of r & r today!

I've DD loved shape sorting when she was 2. Would your dd like [[httpss://www.mulberrybush.co.uk/farmhouse-shape-sorter
something like this]]
or
play food

And if she doesn't, I'd like this please

It's difficult though. I remember buying DD a load of tasteful wooden toys and she generally favoured plastic tat Grin

Hello 😳
Just checked threads I’m on and saw my name, sorry, I am ok ish, not at breakdown point or anything now just totally flat and a bit out of sorts while adjusting to meds.

And coupled with the fact all three Caglets have been down with a sickness bug, things are still A Bit Rubbish.

💐

FestiveForestieraNoel · 25/11/2018 12:50

Sorry to hear this CAG. If it's any small consolation at least the bug didn't hit at Christmas.

Staringcoat · 25/11/2018 13:36

Thanks for dropping by Cag lovely to "hear" from you. Sorry you are going through a tough patch Flowers. Hope the meds kick in soon and you and the Caglets start to feel better. Small steps and all of that xxx.

I am calling a (very hard fought) win. As poss may have mentioned before, a charity is coming to take away all the remnants of dd's childhood early next week (sniff 😢) : clothes, toys, books. And today I finally, finally, persuaded a reluctant DD to go up to her room with me (a very long trek up lots of stairs) to sort out all her childhood books. This project was first started in the summer Blush Blush and never got finished. Even dh staggered upstairs and lent a hand (even though he is meant to be resting).

We finished it all after just an hour and a half! As getting us all to work together is usually like herding cats (dh usually hates doing anything house related that doesn't involve food!) I am mahoosively cheered! He even said afterwards, "well that wasn't too bad actually, we should go through the rest of the house". Whey hey! So nice to hear that I am not totally alone with it as it is such a huge and overwhelming project!! Even for him just to show a tiny bit of interest is cheering!

sc that sounds like a definite win to me!

Cag glad to hear from you and that you're as ok as can be

No more sick here, ds seems fine so hopefully that was it...

Ta da
Dishwasher emptied and reloaded
Lots of washing (due to sick incident!)
Swish and swipe bathroom (at 2am!)
Finished off some work
Went to the local Christmas fayre with dd who was given some money to spend and came home with slime, her face painted and lots of sweets plus rather cutely a key ring that says "mummy" which she has squirrelled away for Christmas for me 💓
Dh has carried on making the shoe rack for the porch
Discussed some Christmas present ideas with my brother and sister in law
Dh popped to supermarket for a few bits

Just need to do dinner in a minute - bacon and bean goulash and mash potatoes

Just had a coffee so feel slightly more energetic now Grin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/11/2018 21:19

Hello all, thanks for letting us know you are still reading the thread Flowers.

Aww, very cute about your DD foxes.

That sounds like huge progress SC Star.

Feels as if it has been a very long day even though I have not left the house. We had a lazy day at home as DD2 has had a cough and DD1 happy to stay in for once.

Ta da:-
Dealt with numerous strops from DDs Confused
Tried to detangle DD2’s doll’s hair. Used fabric conditioner and water as advised on the internet but results really not great. Anyone got any tips please?
Laundry under control
DH scanned copies of the many Christmas song sheets we have from school
Watched the Christmas Chronicles on Netflix with DDs and DH. I was doing bits and pieces while it was on but it was lovely to sit and watch it together with no fighting Smile. I do love a good Christmas film [santa].
Finally pinned my parents down to the dates they are visiting us.
Caught up on my other thread on here
Got up to Christmas mission 7. I know we don’t have to catch up and can start the super cruising ones now but I find it easier to ignore the ‘you don’t have to catch up’ just this once for these missions and like to go through them.

To do:-
Get ready for bed
Figure out what to do next with other thread

Waves to Forestier and everyone else.

Re. doing Christmas thread, tbh I had my usual ulterior motive. If I offer to do Christmas I might be able to avoid the super busy January thread Blush.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/11/2018 21:20

Sorry those flowers at the top of my post were for Cag!

Also hope you are ok Hills; not heard from you in a while.

danigrace · 25/11/2018 21:34

FlowersFlowersCag

Glad most DCs all seem to be on the mend. Here's to all being disease free until after Christmas at least GrinGrin

Had a busy few days and feeling very sore but everything is good overall. Went to our little town's Christmas lights switch on this evening which was nice.

5 more days to make my first ever holiday cruise target. Done all my cards and shopping. Made menu and shopping list and bought non perishables. Worked through holiday missions. Brought decs and tree down out of the loft this morning and put Halloween stuff up there that was still waiting to go up. About 1/3 wrapped. Need to finish wrapping, finish a handmafe gift for mum, get Christmas stamps, enjoy decorating, and will then be done!! Eek.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/11/2018 21:42

Wow Dani StarStarStarStarStar. To do all that with a young child is really amazing! I am jealous of your organisation Envy!

Bowerbird5 · 25/11/2018 22:17

😄💐🍰oh Cags I m so pleased to hear from you. I was quite worried about you. Sorry to hear the sprogs have been poorly. I hope your meds settle you soon. I have strong reactions to some and it isn’t helpful.

Thanks SC yes I did get some rest and relaxation today. Managed to get a few things sorted this morning then left for church earlier as I knew parking could be a problem. Oh boy I spent the extra time in the car park as a car followed me in and another was trying to reverse out. The one behind wouldn’t reverse out so I had to do a 50 point turn as people tried to get run over by walking behind me. Nightmare. I ended up missing the Bishop coming out and I was supposed to be in choir. Eventually I parked it half on the grass as by then the road spaces outside had gone too. However the service was lovely and a buffet was enjoyed by all. The children from babes in arms to teens were all very well behaved. I have cake for tomorrow’s break 😄
I then picked a very nice young man up at the station( I asked three before I got the right one🙄) and took him to choir2 we sang three songs. I bumped into DS2 while looking for the young man and nearly got knocked over by some errant youths running from the railway police. About 20 of them entered the station ten minutes before. Two were on bikes and there is an inviting curved ramps which I heard police shouting to two youths a few weeks ago when the cycled at speed. They nabbed one today but the other gave them the slip followed by the others much to two twenty somethings amusement. DS2 invited me for tea. After Choir2 we had to turn onto main route and there had been an accident. No one seemed hurt but I felt awful squeezing car past but I needed to get MD to the station. Then went home collected washing and went to DS 2 house where I found roast chicken and veg cooking. Put washing on, washed a few plates and two of my pans and relaxed with a cup of tea. The meal was lovely and his roast tattles are as good as mine. I always thought he might be a chef but he went into management. I sussed out a few things he needs for Xmas. Home to bed by nine. Need to be up early to sort kitchen before builders come. Need to do more flying tomorrow.

Bowerbird5 · 25/11/2018 22:20

Hmm Dani you are far too organised!
I have done the food list.
Nobody knows what they want for Christmas. DD is having money to spend on a meal in a special place. She won’t be home for the first time ever. She will be having a sunny Christmas this year. I need to do the overseas cards.

Staringcoat · 25/11/2018 23:34

Crikey Bower you've certainly had an eventful day! Doesn't sound very restful Smile but how lovely to have your ds cook for you. So sorry you will be missing your DD this Christmas Flowers. I guess it's one of those "firsts" that takes some getting used to. When is she due back in the UK? Will you be able to Skype?

It's so great to have you on the thread Dani - it really gives me a (much needed and v welcome) proverbial poke in the rear when I read about how far you are ahead with Christmas prep - please keep applying sharp pointy stick (with tinsel Wink) !!

Hope your dd2's cough improves soon Toostressy. And yikes should I know about/be doing something super cruising missions? I confess I don't know what they are! [Crap thread leader emoticon.]

Yes Hills and Sass and others who have been quiet recently; hope all ok!

Foxes glad to hear your ds ok! And aw, Christmas fayre with your DD sounds lovely!

Mahoosive wing flaps to everyone else!

A reasonably good day today. Some progress made. Book sorting, bed-changing and towel washing . No one fancied a roast so easy cooking too ((leftovers). Still amounts to do though! Bit worried about dh as he doesn't seem to have improved health-wise that much. Doc tomorrow. Heigh ho. Onward and (hopefully) upward.

OP posts:
Bowerbird5 · 26/11/2018 06:31

Wow, zoo! I woke up around 4am and lay in bed on iPad I should have got up like you. Getting up now. Going to make porridge and sort kitchen before kitchen people come. Hoping I might have water this week.

Also need tinsel pointy stick but it isn’t December yet SC so we are OK for a few days.

She won’t be back until about a year . I have her cat sitting on me now. I think she is hinting that I ought to get up.

Staringcoat · 26/11/2018 06:48

Arf at cat alarm clock Bower! Our furry jumps up on the bed and stares at us and puts his long beezer as close as possible to ours without touching until we get up too ... as his breath is not altogether fragrant, it's, er, a fairly effective rousing method! Grin

Snap. Same here. Have been awake since 4 am. (Raises two fingers to menopause Angry)

Sorry to hear your DD is not back for a whole year which must be very hard for you indeed Flowers This motherhood lark is not easy sometimes. Hope she is sending you regular bulletins though!

Had better go and wave DD off. This is her last full week of school before the exams start. She, and all other DC in state schools across the country, exist in a fug of stress at this time of year poor souls.
