OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Because it's you and you asked so nicely Zoo One hot plate of sausage, mash and gravy on the bar for you.

Hope that tomo is kinder to you.

foxessocks · 04/10/2018 21:33

Today was so busy. Haven't stopped. I could really eat sausage and mash right now! Dh made salmon in a crème fraiche sauce with broad beans and leeks, was tasty but no sausage and mash!

Cagliostro · 04/10/2018 21:49

This evening was actually ok. Baby slept on way home which made things much easier, and we just walked straight home from town which felt long but good exercise and fresh evening air and conversation.

Spreadingcudweed · 04/10/2018 22:25

Mmmm...everyone's suppers sound delish!

Evening all! Tired tonight having been prodded and poked by gynae/obyn and then meeting dh off plane to view business property. Funnily enough, we had sausages for dinner too! (Spicy ones with piperade made earlier in day.) Other than that, emptied dw x 2, dog walk x 2, washing x2 and hung up. Nothing else achieved except on-line banking! Gah! As usual, day-to-day stuff getting done but no underlying decluttering!

DD was in a very good mood when we got home. She won a class prize at school for RE (in which they are currently studying Maslow's hierarchy of needs) . She had to write a story demonstrating how someone progressed from one level to the next. Pls forgive maternal boast but I am so relieved and happy for her because the start of this term has been a bit brutal (academically speaking) so a creative task was just what the doctor ordered to regain confidence as it were!

Catch up with you all in the morning! Sleep well everyone!

SassitudeandSparkle · 04/10/2018 23:37

did someone say pie?

Good work on the pies Hills but there may be a payback so take it easy if you can!. zoo your poor little lad - that's not like him at all. I am cursing the teacher for you.

Maslow - shudder of recognition here, well done to your DD for making it interesting SC, certainly worthy of a prize IMO.

Cordelia welcome back! How is the job going?

I am a fan of patent shoes for DD too (and I never buy the repairer) I find them quite hardwearing actually. She's got patent ones now, even in Secondary.

Some laundry was done today, along with a small amount of washing up and the bare necessity of ironing. I did put some clothes away though, putting the dry laundry away is a pain IMO!

See you tomorrow!

Cagliostro · 04/10/2018 23:40

Ooh that’s a fab task! Banking that for future use. Thinking of doing child development and related theories with the Caglets sometime as they are fascinated watching the baby grow up and learn new things. Huge well done to your DD!

ta da
✅home ed
✅had some ideas for tomorrow’s home ed
✅nice lunch
✅found vitamins
✅made it to St. John and back

So tired and frustrated with people doing the whole asking repeatedly for advice but then changing the subject and steadfastly ignoring any practical suggestions thing 🙄🙄🙄 love my friend but FML.

Bowerbird5 · 04/10/2018 23:50

Ah so i’m Not the only one who thinks so🤗
All this talk of pies and sausage and mash mmmmm DD brought home vegan cheesecake raspberry mmmmmmmmmmmmm and chocolate brownie mmmmmmmmmmm I am very full. Feel tired now.

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/10/2018 06:07

danigrace · 05/10/2018 06:41

foxessocks · 05/10/2018 06:55

Thanks zoo and Dani she is fine now, back at school yesterday. She did however wake up 3 times last night because of bad dreams so she'll most likely be grumpy today! (And so will I!)

Spreadingcudweed · 05/10/2018 07:24

Good morning everyone! Sorry this is late! DD seemed fine yesterday but was ill in the night and is ill again this morning with some sort of achey/pukey thing. She looks really dreadful.

Spreadingcudweed · 05/10/2018 07:35

Dd is asleep so that is something.

Hope you are OK Dani do take it steady!

And everyone else who is ailing! Flowers Bear Cake

How did sloe gin work out Meet?

Agree that patent shoes are good just to wipe over (dd has patent lace ups atm in secondary). Otherwise one is constantly polishing leather (well I always was because I have a thing about children and polished shoes thanks to my late ma).

Glad the day went better than you thought yesterday Cag!

Encouraging wing flaps to everyone else!

Cleaner is coming this morning (hopefully) and I am so cross with myself because place is too messy to make the most of her skills. Better do a quick series of 5 min room rescues ....!!

Tally-ho everybody!

Morning everyone! I'm feeling quite a lot better today, felt horrific yesterday afternoon, even was sick twice.

SC Hope she feels better when she wakes up!

To do...

Deep clean bathroom
Quick hoover
Cat litter
Laundry
Dishes
Dinner
Take the DDs to see the giants in our park after school!

Bowerbird5 · 05/10/2018 08:03

Morning.
Hope every one has a good day.

Zoo it is ok I did pace myself yesterday with a sit down in between. The handbags I did sitting down and it felt great to sort them out. That bit of the hall looks better or will when I get those bags back to school.

To do
Get up
Breakfast
Make bed
Stair basket
Books at top of stairs, find homes for them.
Enlist DD help to vacuum stairs.
Swish and swipe
Wash up a few things in sink and shine it. I was too tired -lazy-last night to do it.
Short walk around village with DD
One BRC to do.
Later on
Tidy sitting room and vacuum may get DD to do this.
Load of washing.

If I get most of that done I will be pleased. I bought breaded fish for tea so it would be easy. So throw that in oven and boil potatoes and finish peas.
Fridge needs cleaned out but it can wait until tomorrow.

Spreadingcudweed · 05/10/2018 08:16

Oh no Steggy sit in front of that lovely new fire of yours and take it steady!

Good luck with your long list today Bower!

SassitudeandSparkle · 05/10/2018 11:12

Steg I'm Scouse although live elsewhere now - the Giants are all over my FB feed, and I've never seen them on any of their previous visits as I've been away for a few years now. They look absolutely spectacular, enjoy! I know a lot of people are planning to go and see them, the crowds are enormous.

Um - been shopping. Bought wine before 9.00am. Did buy other food too. Just getting ready for the weekend. DH is due back today although will be away all next week so a busy weekend of laundry here wish it was the Giants instead

SassitudeandSparkle · 05/10/2018 11:26

I'm just watching the Giants live, they are playing the Leaving of Liverpool Sad

If you don't know what the Giants are it is hard to explain, but they are really enormous puppets!

danigrace · 05/10/2018 12:35

Haha I've never heard of the giants, thought you meant the American sports team!!

SC I hope DD feels better quickly

Glad you're better Steg

I'm definitely less dizzy than I was yday thankfully and after a determined packed morning I've successfully exhausted DS so I am now lay down with him snuggled under a sofa blanket whilst he naps.

Ta da:

  • morning routine
  • 15 minutes paper decluttering
  • passed carpet sweeper around
  • cleaned out nappy bag
  • took DS to the park
  • then to rhyme time at the library
  • then to smile group
  • now lying down haha (my best ta da!!)

To do:

  • daily mission
  • nip to shops
  • sort dinner
  • bedtime routine
foxessocks · 05/10/2018 13:57

Ta da
Shopping - few groceries, card for friend, picked up two parcels , some clothes and CHOCOLATE which felt very necessary.

I haven't done anything else as ds asleep in the living room so I can't move for fear of waking the beast. He really needs this nap as he was getting steadily naughtier when we were out. He lay face down on the floor in Argos and a man was giving me very disapproving looks Blush I was ignoring ds and collecting my parcel and a few people had to go around him, the thing is if I'd picked him up he would have screamed and thrashed about , at least this way once I got the parcel I could coax him up by getting him to carry it for me. Tbf other people were giving me sympathetic looks.

foxessocks · 05/10/2018 13:58

Oh no he's awake! And I didn't even write my to do list. Argh. And he's crying. Again.

Bowerbird5 · 05/10/2018 15:44

I used to ignore too I think it is the best method and we still use that at school we just make sure every adult in the room knows. If the behaviour isn’t rewarded by attention then they usually stop doing it. Which is why some of our 6 year olds are still doing it! The only way at home they get attention. I sometimes throw them a glance to check on them with a “ Doesn’t work here pet.” Toddlers are different that is frustration of not being able to express themselves but can be pretty frustrating for the parent too. DD used to take herself to the stairs it was so funny. She had a massive tantrum in the supermarket once we walked off and ignored her, her little / big brother (7) ran up the top of the next aisle because he was worried about her. He said she looked around then picked herself up and ran around the corner after us.
So getting on quite well today.

Ta Das
Up, good breakfast.
Sorted basket.
paired lots of socks.
Wiped the door.
Washed one window.
Dusted sitting room. Rearranged some stuff.
Vacuumed.
Still have random bags of crap to do, just having a tea break

Cagliostro · 05/10/2018 17:19

God I do not miss that phase! I am dreading it with Cagletini and frankly hoping that the older siblings she adores will help provide distraction/extra hands in these situations 😳😳😳

Bit knackered here
