September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 08:25

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

We went to the local for breakfast, yum. DH is on the way home (he got a lift to the run but train back) and Cagletini is trying to doze off so I can do the washing up plus I need to put our washing on in case any of the dirty stuff is needed on our trip.

I am starting to realise that baby actually seems to be getting into a bit of a pattern of two naps a day. It almost resembles a routine. That aspect of parenting has always completely baffled me so it’s pretty exciting.

IVEgotthePOWER · 09/09/2018 12:08

Feel so crap. Lazy and cba. But so much to do and the day is dispearing!

Ds3 is a right grump today. Just put him down for a nap although he does not agree that this is the answer...

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/09/2018 13:23

Oh dear I've my answer would be face first in large tub chocolates from shop, but not sure this is helpful!!

Viewed venue.its lovely

Picked up buttons for D's blazer(lost them both, none inside as replacement offerings)

Need pop shops once dd1 and fiance drop us off as I promised rolls for lunch!!

Cagliostro · 09/09/2018 13:37

I’ve done the washing up (well all but a few things). Put our laundry on. That is all! DH is home now. Need to see what needs using up in the fridge for dinner (don’t need lunch as breakfast was unlimited 🐷🤤😋)

Just trying to write a list with the Caglets of what needs packing. Need to be organised tomorrow as we have a particular time train to catch with our tickets. So need the suitcases, buggy and changing bag all organised.

Hate Sunday evening blues before a manic week! I'm sure it will fly by for all of us. No pun intended. Some flying would be good too!

The dc are having eggs and beans on toast for dinner as we've been snacking on and off all day so no big dinner here. Me and dh going to have something later on probably more leftover party food!!

Greymalkin · 09/09/2018 18:19

Evening all. Lots a familiar faces still here, and no doubt some name changers I'll soon work out...

September seemed a good time to get back onto the flying wagon, so here is my ta da list for today:
Family trip to the zoo
Picked up some slimming world ready meals from Iceland on the way home
Emptied dishwasher, reloaded it and on again
Washed up pots and pans
Load of laundry done, now tumble drying
Changed DS's bedsheets
Made two other beds
Sorted all recycling into correct receptacles
Cleaned hob and splash back
Scrubbed kitchen counters and draining board
Cooked tea for DS
Fed cats

Still do do:
Bath, reading and bed for DS
Dinner for DH and I
Make DS's lunch box
Fold three loads of tumble drying - will do this in front of the telly once DS is asleep
Get work stuff and school bags ready and by the front door

Off to catch up on the thread now.

Meet0nTheIedge · 09/09/2018 18:38

, welcome back, I'm a long termer with a recent NC.

I agree that Paddington 2 is better, with High Grant stealing the show.

Today I have been mainly cooking. Trying to get ahead for weeknights when we tend to be busy, also using up some of the contents of the freezer. I have an Instant Pot and this afternoon have made beef casserole, ragu for lasagne, a big batch of curry sauce to freeze and have just started some yogurt. It is a little miracle worker.

Have also done a bit more upstairs decluttering, the main food shop and a few emails. Plus washed and dried towels and sewed on some name labels. Got rid of a pile of magazines too. Oh and bleached tile grout in the bathroom, I have discovered thst blobs of loo roll soaked in bleach stick to it better than my old favourite bleach and bicarb paste, plus can go straight down the loo afterwards.

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/09/2018 19:27

Tada
Little ones fed n watered
Lil zoo meds done
Drinks in freezer to chill lunchboxes with

Another two loads wash done
Zoolets hair done, conditioned and in messy buns atop heads to finish drying!!
My dinners in oven-huge tray butternut squash with paprika and chilli flakes, some red onion wedges and pepper chunks.pasta going on shortly, cheese grated and ready to go!!
School bags packed,homework checked

Have lovely evening fledglings!!

Paddington 2 and Hugh G is great, love the photos in his room!

Did bare minimum of ironing. DD asleep next to me in bed as DH is away - it's our 'sleepover'.

This week I will make a difference in the house. And not just a bad one, oh no, a tidy one

stegosauruslady · 10/09/2018 10:03

Good morning!

Feeling pretty excellent about things this morning...mostly due to being allowed (by midwife!) to go running again, so been for a run straight after dropping DDs 2 and 3 at school! I really never thought I'd end up being grumpy about being told not to run, but the last three months have sucked! In other news, running at 22 weeks pregnant is harder than running while not pregnant.

To dos for the day....

Shower and swish and swipe
Do a top up shop
Dishes
Make dinner during the day
Make breakfast bars
Laundry
Daily mission
Go to a 'meet the teacher' thing after school

Have a great day everyone!

foxessocks · 10/09/2018 10:15

Well done for the run steg!

Ta da

Dishwasher emptied and reloaded
Washing on
Towels , tea towels etc changed
Tidied / decluttered fridge
Tidied / decluttered dc craft cupboard

Dd friend here now so lots of noise and excitement. Although tbf they have settled down to play with the dolls house now. Having quick Brew then back to the housework I think.

To do

Mopping
Swish and swipe bathrooms
Polish mirrors
Empty bins
Strip bed
Decluttering

Cagliostro · 10/09/2018 11:12

Blimey I can’t even run when not pregnant well done steg!

I’m en route to Winchester and am pleased as the train has WiFi. Yay!

Tired though. Very very tired. Have done a little iPad stuff with DS, now to persuade DD Hmm

foxessocks · 10/09/2018 11:26

List all done except decluttering although I did do a bit earlier. Need to nip to the supermarket later as well if we get time. Annoying really as food shopping being delivered later but I forgot to order more porridge and we don't have enough milk to last until the food shop arrives either!! Bad organisation!

foxessocks · 10/09/2018 16:51
Cagliostro · 10/09/2018 17:15

Made it to Winchester. The walk to the house half killed me and I have been useless since we got here! The others have gone to get food for tonight and a packed lunch tomorrow.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/09/2018 17:19

Hi all, lovely to hear from you again Grey.

Ta da:-
Enquiries about freelance work to find they don’t need me Confused.

Went for a run

foxessocks · 10/09/2018 18:19

Ta da
Sorted out all the little bits for dd dolls house
Cooked dinner - which was a disaster! Didn't like it at all. The others ate it half heartedly. Chucked the leftovers away which I never normally do! (Rarely any leftovers tbh!)
Cleaned kitchen after dinner
Hung washing up
Dishwasher on
Decluttered baking cupboard
Decluttered another kitchen cupboard

To do
Tidy living room / bedrooms while dc in the bath being supervised by dh.

Grumpy because of my bad dinner - Jamie Oliver recipe too it's all his fault Grin nothing to do with me overcooking it oh no

foxessocks · 10/09/2018 18:19

Lots of athletic people on the thread at the moment!

Also forgot to say hello to grey! Nice to have you back!

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/09/2018 19:32

Sorry it took me most of the day to figure out that my motivation had gone into hiding because my pain levels were through the roof. Blush Now that my pain levels are under control I have a bit of motivation to get stuff done. Will be back later with the links
